jackomagnus:No wahala. Good to know |
jackomagnus:Hahahahahahaha I feel you. But certainly, what applies in the US will not apply here in Nigeria, abi? Farming techniques (mechanisation, etc) I can accept but the seed in particular should also matter. The other thing I heard is that some farmers don’t buy the right seed out here and don’t apply the right amount of fertiliser |
jackomagnus:Afraid catch me! Need to do more research I guess. Perhaps if you could kindly point me in the right direction, I will take it from there |
My people, late on this thread but I have a serious question to ask. Been told that average maize yield is about 1 ton per hectare!! Can someone please confirm this ![]() |
Rubbish. Less is more my foot! And there's a yacht of his moored at Walter Carrington in VI for what type of simplicity ![]() |
Na wa.... |
Integrityfarms:All we do is just complain, complain, and complain. If that is not enough we criticise, and continue to criticise even more! Na wa for una!! |
TokyoBulls:Please ignore previous post/typo. Yield/potential for Oba Super 98 is 7-8 tons according to the suppliers. Could you please kindly let us know how you got your results? Thanks |
Penkelemess:Apologies, but yield/potential for Oba Super 98 is 7-8 tons according to the suppliers. Could you please kindly let us know how how you got your results? Thanks |
TokyoBulls:Not bad. Thanks for your response. Much appreciated. |
TokyoBulls:Thanks. If you don't mind me asking, what was the yield? |
TokyoBulls:Hello, which seeds do you plant? |
Hello Sir Looking to do a ONE YEAR test program - 330 Acres. If all works well we can do longer term. Please advise. Will reach out to you on your contact number once you respond Thanks - P omoluabi87: |
jam04:Sounds like you're talking from hard-earned experience. I looked up your profile and I see you're in Abeokuta. Do you have a contact number by any chance? I may be able to source the mower attachment but I still wonder if it will be able to clear the type of vegetation we have in Nigeria. Thanks |
jam04:Thanks for your comments. I reckon you've probably saved me a bundle and I am so glad I came on here to ask these questions. Was already thinking of hiring a bulldozer. What type of equipment would you recommend for clearing farmland and will it be effective with trees? Perhaps there is a totally different process for trees? Thanks once again for your comments |
Happy New Year to all once again. Been reading contributions and ideas on the side for quite some time and I must say that the amount of information on here is pretty valuable in so many ways - and information from the experts (@pamdaniel, @jovie, @hotmas911, @olayimikami) have been very helpful and insightful. Thought I'd jump in and get some information; as is always the case. With that said, I have specific questions related to a project I am working on. In a nutshell, I just need to make sure the figures make sense and not start to build mansions in the sky. All answers would be greatly appreciated. Questions: - What is the average cost of clearing a hectare of land, in any of the following states; Ogun, Oyo, Kwara, and Ekiti? - What is the average cost of herbicides? This is a very broad question since there are way too many varieties but an average cost will suffice - What is the average cost of fertilizers? - Where is the best place to purchase hybrid maize and soybean seeds? For this project, someone said it might be a challenge to source good seeds for 1,000 hectares and above - What is the average cost of hybrid maize and soybean seeds? - There are so many comments on how to plant and harvest but not so much on storage. What is the way forward with storage, especially when you have over 1,000 tons? - Following on from the question above, any suggestions as to the best way to find bulk buyers? Especially with the feed mills, breweries, food processors, etc.? All answers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |
