EducationThis Is Why There Is No Teachers' Day In Japan by PerfectView(op): 8:23pm On May 17
THERE IS NO TEACHERS DAY IN JAPAN AND THERE IS NO NEED FOR IT

In Japan , there is no Teacher's Day. One day, I asked my Japanese colleague, Teacher Yamamota: How do you celebrate Teacher's Day in Japan? Surprised by my question , he replied : We don't have Teacher's Day.
When I heard his reply , I was not sure whether I should believe him or not. A thought passed through my mind: why a country , which is so advanced in economy, sciences and technology, is so disrespectful towards teachers and their work.

Once, after work, Yamamota invited me to his house . We took the metro since it was far away . It was the evening peak hour, and the wagons in the metro train were overcrowded . I managed to find a space to stand, holding tightly the overhead rail. Suddenly, the elderly man who was seated beside me offered me his seat. Not understanding this respectful behaviour of an elderly man , I declined, but he was persistent, and I was forced to sit . Once we were out of the metro , I asked Yamamota to explain what exactly the whitebeard old man did. Yamamota smiled and pointed towards the tag of teacher I was wearing and said : "The old man has seen the tag of a teacher on you and as a sign of respect towards your status, offered you his seat."

Since I was visiting Yamamota for the first time, I felt uncomfortable going there with empty hands so I decided to buy a gift . I shared my thoughts with Yamamota, he supported the idea and said that little further, there is a shop for teachers , where one can purchase goods at reduced prices. Once again , I couldn't hold my emotions :
Privileges are offered only to teachers? I asked .

Confirming my words , Yamamota said:
In Japan, teaching is the most respected profession and a teacher is the most respected person. The Japanese entrepreneurs are very happy when teachers come to their shops, they consider it an honour .

EducationRe: Why Combat Sports Should Become Compulsory In Nigerian Schools by PerfectView: 11:24am On May 16
It is easier to build boys than to mend men. This will be more effective than what our youth corpers are exposed to at their NYSC orientation camp. Every child needs to learn self defence...it would be a great development in our education sector.
PoliticsAll 4 Ogun State Governors In The 4th Republic Support One Man As The Next Gov. by PerfectView(op): 2:39pm On Apr 14
All four Ogun Governors in the 4th Republic are present here, in this April 13, 2026 photo. United behind one candidate for 2027.

To have all Governors since 1999 still alive AND to have them all backing one person from the State's 'political minority'—is not a story many States can boast of.

The same backing by all former Governors of Ekiti State for Oyebamiji who is the current governor for another term.

Yorubas are unique people.

A key factor in the prosperity of Lagos State is its successful succession pool since it was set up by BAT.

It safeguards the state development plan.

If other states have that continuity, with each governor building on the good work of their predecessors, they will do better.

God bless Ogun State

God bless Nigeria.

Nairaland GeneralRe: Nairalanders, Talk To Me About Nairaland by PerfectView: 1:52am On Mar 02
OverCalculating:
Moderators of the Health and Career section are not fully active. There are some important threads that they fail to move to front page even after calling their attention to it. Also, monetization of front page contents for the posters is not a bad idea because some people put extra efforts to prepare the contents that they post on each section. I think I have an idea to make the monetization process easier; let the criteria for being a moderator be based on the number of front page worthy post a poster has made. For example, you may say, if you have up to 20 posts that have made front page within a particular period, you would be automatically eligible to become a moderator. Then your moderators could go through some training to know more about the work culture and ethics of the forum. After that, you can put them on weekly or monthly payment with a target of post to make on a daily or periodic basis. This will make posting of contents look more original, professional, competitive and entertaining with different styles and enthusiasm because of the money involved.

Then as for the advertisement which is the soul of the forum. I suggest that there should be some sponsored adverts in form of thread and not just the usual advert banners on top of the thread section. When visiting each page, many people like me just focus on the thread section and read through the lines of each thread without looking up for advert. To be sincere with you, I cant remember the last time I have seen or glanced at any advert here on Nairaland but I am active on the pages everyday. Let the attention of advert be diverted to sponsored posts. The advertiser con choose to write the content and use some images (graphics) as illustration. Advertisers can also consult the moderators for creation of contents of sponsored post. This is another way for moderators to earn money. Let me stop here for now and allow other users to make suggestions. I hope these help.
Brilliant idea.

I was there...I witnessed the court judgement. Something in me told me he didn't commit the crime but how could I proven it to the judge? I knew he didn't kill his wife but he was wrong to have been beating her and killing her inside. Her mental health was a problem before the incidence. Nobody talks about mental health issue in marriage, all they see is the physical abuse which is just integral. There are several depressed wives out there...mentally challenged but they are just acting strong as if nothing is happening. Please, parents reach out to your daughter's and find out what is really up with them in their marriage. Don't just assume that everything is fine.

Christianity EtcCan You Reconcile Genesis 1: 31 With Genesis 6:6? Is God Really Omniscient? by PerfectView(op): 8:46pm On Feb 02, 2025
If we read these verses literally, Genesis 1:31 says that God was satisfied that everything in creation was good, and Genesis 6:6 says that God later realised that this was not the case. That means that at the time of creation, God did not know what the future would be—he was not omniscient. What is your view about this?
HealthRe: The Danger of Improper Prescription Of Medications On Nigerian Social Media by PerfectView: 8:55pm On Jan 26, 2025
You got it all wrong. Now, take your time to read the article once again. Make sure you read in between the lines.

Originalsly:
I'm not in the medical field period ... but do give advice on herbal remedies for certain health issues. I find this write up to be biased ... discouraging the use of herbal treatments. Any Tom, Dick or Harry be on Social Media prescribing both herbal and pharmaceutical treatments. The prescription of pharmaceutical treatments is regulated ... who can prescribe (certified doctors) to who can fulfill the prescription (pharmacist). The prescription of herbal treatments is not regulated ... no certification required...this is our tradition ...our culture ..our history. Why try to demonize it ? Why not first control what can be controlled ... the regulated health sector .. the prescription of pharmaceuticals? ... the proliferation of fake drugs? Isn't this more dangerous to our health than herbs? No doubt.... the use of herbal drugs along with pharmaceuticals can be for better ..or for worse. Shouldn't the warning be do not take both? ...take either? Why must the pharmaceutical be the one to take? Cancer for example ... the one I really have beef with. What treatment is mostly recommended by the professionals?.... chemotherapy.... poison therapy ...regulated poisoning. Would they ever educate the masses on this?...or rather label any such claim as coming from conspiracy theorists ? BTW.... anyone planning on having their loved ones on chemotherapy...my advice is to do a checkup on the status of the person's organs ...liver in particular. As the therapy progresses ... go back and do another check .... you will come to your own conclusions. If anyone's loved is doing chemo and dies "of cancer" ... instead of simply accepting what you were told ...do an independent post mortem and find out the status of the organs at time of death ...you will come to your own conclusion. Reminder ... I'm not in the medical field ... this write up is about getting my kind ...uncertified ... conspiracy theorists ... off social media and allowing the public to be fed by their "credible information" only. Or is it really about protecting the pharmaceutical industry?

Na waaa o! huh lipsrsealed

DanielJones:
This is true. I think most of the AI detectors are out there basically for commercial purpose. Here is the strategy, you insert your content, they detect that the content is plagiarised (irrespective of accurate evidence), then they ask you to pay for subscription in order to help you humanize the content. Once you fall into the trap, you will keep going back to them.

There was a popular case online early this year when the Constitution of the United States of America, written several years ago, was detected by a popular AI detector software to be generated by AI. What a case! grin

You guys are really doing good job. I recently hired Afterlife Cleaning Services to fumigate my home, and I'm thoroughly impressed with their exceptional service!

From the initial consultation to the actual fumigation process, the team was professional, courteous, and efficient. They arrived on time, explained the process clearly, and ensured that all areas of my home were thoroughly treated.

The fumigation itself was highly effective, eliminating all signs of pests and leaving my home smelling fresh and clean. I've noticed a significant reduction in pest-related issues since the treatment.

The team was responsive to my queries, and their follow-up to ensure I was satisfied with the service was greatly appreciated.

I highly recommend Afterlife Cleaning Services to anyone seeking reliable, effective, and customer-centric fumigation services. Kudos to Abel, Dorcas, and the entire team for a job well done!

EducationRe: Two Inmates At Kirikiri Medium Custodial Centre Won Laptops From AYITI by PerfectView: 4:39pm On Feb 04, 2024
MamaFryo:
Two inmates at Kirikiri Medium Custodial Centre, Lagos State, yesterday, won a brand new laptop and coding book as Access for Youths to Information Technology Initiative (AYIITI) and Anchor Heritage Initiative have partnered the custodial centre to train 20 of them in computer programming.

The brand new laptop and coding book were won after a coding competition organised for the inmates during their graduation ceremony which was held at the custodial centre.

In attendance were the Controller of Corrections, Lagos State Command, Ben-Rabbi Freedman, CC Ben-Robbi Freedman, Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC), Kirikiri Medium Custodial Centre, DCC Michael Anugwa and other personalities.

In his address, Freedman expressed delight at the occasion and appreciated the partners for the training.
He said the custodial centre had secured approval from the National Open University of Nigeria to award Diploma certificates in various fields to inmates after being trained by the University.

The CC charged the trainees to put whatever they have learnt into practice.
“I appreciate our partners for a job well done. I would like to tell you all that the custodial centre has secured approval with NOUN to train the inmates in various fields and issue diploma certificates to them after the training.

“I beseech you to put whatever you have learnt into practice,” he said.
Also speaking, the DCC charged the inmates to comport themselves wherever they find themselves.

He advised them to take advantage of the programme to acquire relevant skills that would make them employable after their release from the centre.

While presenting the laptop and coding book to the winners, AYIITI Managing Director and Founder, Akinyele Olubodun, said the Initiative was dated back to 2011 in his quest to give back to the society.
The UNILAG graduate said the five months training grilled the inmates from scratch but he was happy that it turned out to be fruitful.
Speaking about the initiative, he said, “it identifies with the vulnerable people from the margins of society, teaching them computer programming for ethical change.

“Programming pulled me out of poverty. It gave me my best memories and opportunities to be who I want to be. I believe my journey to freedom can be replicated for other children and adults living in marginalised communities by lowering the barrier to attaining programming knowledge.

“I choose to teach inmates computer programming because it teaches character reformation, resilience, logic, problem solving and patience.

“This is not just programming, it is programming for a better world.”
Bidemi Oladipo, the Chief Operating Officer, Anchor Heritage Initiative, said the initiative is partnering with other tech companies to train the inmates for onward transfer to NOUN to issue diploma certificates.

He said another class of the tech training would resume soon and the training would cover website development, graphics designs, photography and computer literacy among others.

Gobe may mean "tomorrow" in Hausa but in Yoruba, it means serious problem. For example: " Gbogb gone ni má ba e fa leni"...meaning, I will go down with you in serious trouble today.

The same thing with Shege in Yoruba. It may mean bastard in Hausa but it means serious trouble in Yoruba. For example: "Akano fi oju mi ri sege ni àna...meaning, Akano showed me a hell of trouble yesterday.
