Education / Re: Two Inmates At Kirikiri Medium Custodial Centre Won Laptops From AYITI by PerfectView: 4:39pm On Feb 04
MamaFryo:
Two inmates at Kirikiri Medium Custodial Centre, Lagos State, yesterday, won a brand new laptop and coding book as Access for Youths to Information Technology Initiative (AYIITI) and Anchor Heritage Initiative have partnered the custodial centre to train 20 of them in computer programming.

The brand new laptop and coding book were won after a coding competition organised for the inmates during their graduation ceremony which was held at the custodial centre.

In attendance were the Controller of Corrections, Lagos State Command, Ben-Rabbi Freedman, CC Ben-Robbi Freedman, Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC), Kirikiri Medium Custodial Centre, DCC Michael Anugwa and other personalities.

In his address, Freedman expressed delight at the occasion and appreciated the partners for the training.
He said the custodial centre had secured approval from the National Open University of Nigeria to award Diploma certificates in various fields to inmates after being trained by the University.

The CC charged the trainees to put whatever they have learnt into practice.
“I appreciate our partners for a job well done. I would like to tell you all that the custodial centre has secured approval with NOUN to train the inmates in various fields and issue diploma certificates to them after the training.

“I beseech you to put whatever you have learnt into practice,” he said.
Also speaking, the DCC charged the inmates to comport themselves wherever they find themselves.

He advised them to take advantage of the programme to acquire relevant skills that would make them employable after their release from the centre.

While presenting the laptop and coding book to the winners, AYIITI Managing Director and Founder, Akinyele Olubodun, said the Initiative was dated back to 2011 in his quest to give back to the society.
The UNILAG graduate said the five months training grilled the inmates from scratch but he was happy that it turned out to be fruitful.
Speaking about the initiative, he said, “it identifies with the vulnerable people from the margins of society, teaching them computer programming for ethical change.

“Programming pulled me out of poverty. It gave me my best memories and opportunities to be who I want to be. I believe my journey to freedom can be replicated for other children and adults living in marginalised communities by lowering the barrier to attaining programming knowledge.

“I choose to teach inmates computer programming because it teaches character reformation, resilience, logic, problem solving and patience.

“This is not just programming, it is programming for a better world.”
Bidemi Oladipo, the Chief Operating Officer, Anchor Heritage Initiative, said the initiative is partnering with other tech companies to train the inmates for onward transfer to NOUN to issue diploma certificates.

He said another class of the tech training would resume soon and the training would cover website development, graphics designs, photography and computer literacy among others.

Education / Re: 20 Hausa Words In Everyday Nigerian English, by Farooq Kperogi: by PerfectView: 4:41am On Aug 28, 2022
Gobe may mean "tomorrow" in Hausa but in Yoruba, it means serious problem. For example: " Gbogb gone ni má ba e fa leni"...meaning, I will go down with you in serious trouble today.

The same thing with Shege in Yoruba. It may mean bastard in Hausa but it means serious trouble in Yoruba. For example: "Akano fi oju mi ri sege ni àna...meaning, Akano showed me a hell of trouble yesterday.

Shame on him, shame on the university he graduated from, shame on the education sector of his country and big shame on his country. This dude could just have settled for a teaching job; even if it doesn't pay as much as he earns from this current biz that he does, he will be rest assured that there would be light after the tunnel. What a life!

"With 600k I could not afford to get the tool, so I diverted the money to another business"

Why take it?

1 u can be jailed. I have 2 ppl jailed for owing microfinance

2. U can be tracked with the help of police and mtn

3. U can end up in jail if u try to hide.

Mind u the interest / accrued fee is been added too. Microfinance banks pays interest for the money they loan to u so that's why they are evil in debt recovery. Look for something to sell and pay back because they will never give u peace.

What do you people gain from putting fear in others? Check the post before yours, it is reasonable and highly professional, it speaks volume of the person that wrote it. However, read what you wrote again and compare it with yours? Now, I assume you could have seen the reflection of how wicked you are. Must you say nonsense? Evil!

My people, I have contacted her and I discovered that she is the real person. I just addressed the issue maturely with her and warned her to remove her account on the site. She had done that already and she asked me to promise her that I won't tell my friend. I told that I am not sure of giving a promise but she should be rest assured that everything is under control. I have decided to avoid the family for a long while. Thank you all for your advice.

Your best friend you say? Then act like his your best friend. You owe it to him to let him know what you found out because that's what a good friend should do.However since is a serious accusation you really need to verify if she works as a part time olosho or someone used her photo at the site this second guess I believe.

My suggestion is she should be booked by one of your friends and see if she shows up for the service.Pictures should be taken while she visits. That your friend doesn’t have to sleep with her that day or you can't waste money for booking to save your friend?
Goodluck!

Thank you for your advice. I didn't show up at church today. I intend to call her this week and confirm if she is the actual person behind the profile. Then I can have enough evidence to present to my friend.

I wonder why it is bothering or shocking you when you are not any different from her. You are both doing the same thing. Someone also needs to call your wife and report you.

You don't have to let it go that far, my dear.

Romance / I Saw My Best Friend’s Wife On An Escort Site In Nigeria. Should I Tell Him? by PerfectView: 7:13pm On Aug 15, 2020
Please I need your advice.

A colleague of mine recently introduced me to an escort site (www.lounge45.com) where you can easily hookup with ladies of your choice and get them laid with no much stories. So, as konji no gree let me rest na because my wife is in Canada for study, I had to visit the site. I later decided to use the service because my identity is well protected. I don’t have to call any escort with my phone number; so, nobody knows the identity of who is calling before you finally seal the deal and get to meet the escort of your choice. Also, I didn’t have to pay for the service directly with my bank details showing my identity.
After navigating the site, I hooked up with one of the escorts and it was fun. On another visit, something caught my attention. I saw my best friend’s wife (of 5 years now with 2 kids) on the site. It keeps baffling me till now. This actually happened yesterday night. The most confusing part is that my friend is not broke, he is an averagely rich guy who works in a reputable coy. He opened a very big boutique for his wife. The boutique is at their home which my friend had built before getting married.
We worship at the same church. My friend is a deacon in the church while his wife is a chorister. Tomorrow I will go to church and my friend’s wife will definitely be ministering as a member of the choir, she may even lead the Praise & Worship session. I can’t imagine how that would make me feel tomorrow. I don’t want to be the one to put asunder to their marriage but I can’t also hold myself because my conscience keeps pricking me to let my friend know about what I saw. It may be a case of someone else using her picture or she may even be the person for real. I am in dilemma now. I need mature advice from you all.

Romance / Re: White Girl In Nigeria - How Is Nigeria's Hookup Culture? by PerfectView: 7:08pm On Aug 15, 2020
BlondeGirl:
Hello everyone. I just moved to Nigeria from Sweden, and I've been crazy to go out with black men, but I don't really know how I should proceed. On one hand, it seems that Nigerians are very liberal in some senses, but in others they seem conservative. So I would really like to understand how is Nigeria's hookup culture, if there is any. Also, where is a good place in Lagos to meet handsome black guys? Are there any clubs you could recommend?
You can try www.lounge45.com you will get what you want. I just had a bad experience finding my best friend's wife as an escort on the site though.

Good luck!

Hmmm! This is terrible. I lost a friend last year from something related to this. He was used to drinking alcohol excessively. His wife reported that he drank some sachets and slept and he didn't wake up again. This dude was not poor o, he just chose to be 'close to the street lifestyle" just as he always called it. Full of live and very social. May his soul rest in peace. Thanks @OP for sharing this. I hope it gets to the right person.

Family / Re: Why Do Some Men Reject Their Wife’s Food When They Are Angry? by PerfectView: 12:12pm On Nov 04, 2019
My dad used to do that a lot to my mum anytime he was angry with her when I was with my parents. I found out that I would also do it to them whenever any of them scolded me or I was just angry with them. I would eat out and ignore eating at home for days until I got my dad or mum's attention. Now that I am married with kids, I don't even live in Africa. I find myself doing it to my wife. It has got into my subconsciousness...eaten deep to the extent that I don't see anything bad with it. I see my first son taking after me already too...it is a crazy habit, I know but it has come to be in our family. Thank God my wife understands and she is just being indifferent. grin

Work and earn money to take of your family's needs- You can't!

Do house chores- You still can't.

What exactly are you good at? You can't afford to feed an extra mouth, who will feed the new born?

Op better respect your self. You don't have money and you're breeding.

This post is not necessary. It is wrong to just conclude that everyone would be as suddenly rich as you are or as you expect. I know you should be a teenager with your sense of reasoning. Look, if you think money making is as easy as you imagine, ask your father where he was when Dangote became a billionair. The young man who created this thread mentioned that he is in his early 30s...he just started his career. Do you know his journey so far? He could have been raised from a humble background but he chose to be responsible by getting married in his late 20s. I remember when I made my first million legitimately...so, when I see a young man growing to be successful in life without doing scam, money ritual or all sort of corrupt activities to make money, I respect him. There many 40 years old men who still live with their parents...this guy has tried biko. All he needs is to understand his wife's predicament, manage his home and move on as many knowledgeable people have suggested here. This is not a good time to blame anyone for being poor or lazy.

I am not presently in Nigeria but I have a 4 bedroom duplex in Lekki Phase 1. Too bad, from the picture sent to me, the painter and bricklayer did not do a good job at all. I need a good cleaning company to help give a perfect cleaning touch. How much does it cost? How long will it take to finish the cleaning? I could have asked my builder to do this for me but I have lost trust in her with the result I have got so far.
