Really, Romeo, I'll like you to calm down and take a second look at the comments of those who have been telling you to stop posting pictures of your clients and also those who told you the ban and removal of pictures were necessary.
No one is jealous, as some people have been saying. I have been reading your stories and I enjoyed them but I didn't feel okay with the pictures. I don't think they are right.

You come across as intelligent. Won't you rather take the advice of people who have intelligently, without insults, told you why you should not put up pictures of your clients over the advice of people who can't get their opinions across without insulting others and labeling them haters?

I think you need to see things from other people's perspectives. You are NOT all knowing and when a lot of people say the same things consistently, you need to take time to see if there are truths in it.

At the end though, it's your call.

In what capacity are those saying it?

The majority can be stupid and you have got to dissociate yourself from the stupid majority.
Most nairalanders are unintelligent and daft.

Be uniques. This is a matter of great gravitas.

have you really been reading people's comments about the privacy? no one hates the stories posted, what people are saying is "the pictures are not necessary" we have been enjoying the stories without pictures. I know people so well I don't need to see their faces before i can recognise them, you might not be able to recognise but others do so therefore, it's not right.

In what capacity are those jejune green fellows saying that pics were unnecessary when none of the persons could be traced?

Argue with ratiocination for once.
You mustn't be as daft as others.

Since they refuse to close the thread why don't you guys stop commenting on it? The topic is not even in the Top 200 in travel section as your views is less than 35,000. My post hit over 80,000 views in less than a month and I am not killing anyone for closing it since no one owes me anything on Nairaland. It is never personal, get your views out and move on with it. Stop playing the victim card nobody cares. The minute you stop commenting on it the thread will die naturally, or probably you secretly wish the thread could get more views
This dimwit that has never been to MM Airport will be everywhere giving opinions.

Of what relevance are your 8 billion views here.

It's akin to losing 3 kids to doctor's negligence and then telling another to forget beacuse he only lost a kid.

A taxi driver who decides to share pictures of his riders, the clothes they wear, the neighbourhood they live in without their informed consent IS acting against the law in any developed country. Uber Nigeria seems to be fairly lackadaisical in their approach which might explain why this account hasn't been blacklisted.

I think people who are against the decision of the moderator haven't read the Uber privacy policy, especially in the light of recent events going on with Facebook et al. This has nothing to do with "bad-belleism" or jealousy like some people have alluded to, it's simply common sense. I don't believe the moderator who resides overseas will be jealous of a taxi driver making a living in Nigeria.

I don't use Uber, but if I did, I expect the driver to do his job of picking me from point A and dropping me off at point B. When a driver takes pictures of me and where I live (MY shithole) without my consent, goes ahead to post such in social media in an attempt to bank likes and shares, it's a gross invasion of the privacy and safety of people who use Uber.

I would advice the moderators to email Uber Nigeria all the photos of riders posted in this thread, lets see if I'm right or wrong when it comes to their own well-stated privacy policy.

I have disagreed with the actions of the travel section moderator on a handful of occasions in the past, but I totally agree with his decision to remove the photos of riders and their neighbourhood posted here. It's just not fair for taxi drivers to ridicule their riders who are actually paying them to do a simple job of moving from point A to B.

I expect the OP will be treated more harshly by Instagram if he chooses to post riders photos there without their consent, he will eventually be tracked and his Uber account blacklisted by Uber. I can't believe that a 'young man' can choose to risk loosing his livelihood simply because of a few likes and shares in social media.

Bunch of codswallop like this actually buttresses the point that the average IQ of Nigerians is way too low.

How could you say that the lady with a torn shirt would feel offended if she found out?

How could that be when there are no traces whatsoever? Only the torn part of the dress was captured.
Could that lady say in law, establish a case of defamation if she were to pursue one?

My counsel to Romeo3 is to ignore the dimwits here.
Whether vel non you decide to continue posting here is left for you.

Respecting the ban, Nairaland has been known to be biased from inception. At times, their rules are bunkum.
For instance, what is the rationale for having a restriction on Muslim threads whereas none exists for Christian yet the owner claims to be an atheist?

Let me say upfront that I enjoy your stories. More importantly, I like your hardworking lifestyle and your general attitude to work.

But on this issue of the ban, I cannot agree less. I'm not sure its right to take photos of people, obviously without their consent and such photos find their way here. Although it makes your stories interesting and credible, I don't think its proper to take unauthorised photographs of people and post it here (even though their faces are never shown). Their privacy must be respected. I can recall at least two instances: the lady with the torn red dress and the lady with the very skimpy bum shorts recently.

The test is whether an average reasonable man would not feel offended, if he were to find out that someone took photos of him in a situation which doesn't necessarily portray him well and posted it on a forum read by millions.

Whether an outright ban without prior warning is right is another kettle of fish entirely.

Don't take it too hard, we still want to share in the hilarious moments you encounter as you keep Lagos moving. Cheers.

Well, I differ in all respects given that we often view love as unconditional or a feeling.
In my estimation, love exists not. It is merely misleading and at best used for convenience.

What is couched as love is purely business. For a man loves not a woman in vain. The converse is also true. Both parties "love" (engage in the transaction) purely because of what they will gain in the relationship, friendship, marriage etc.

The gain could be that the man is wealthy, intelligent, handsome, caring etc. The same applies to the woman mutatis mutandis.

This explains why most women don't love the pauper on the street and would rather go for the minted guy. The woman that seems to love the pauper only does so because the minted hasn't approached her.

If the minted approaches her and she rejects him, then there is something that the pauper has that the rich guy has lacks --- maybe the poor guy is caring, compassionate etc---- which she values above money.

This still shows why it's business and not 'love'.

A man that gives to the beggar does not so free. Rather he gives and expects God to reward him.

And there are no exceptions to this.
Nothing in life is free. In other words, nobody does anything without expectations.

I could cite 1 million instances but for time.
Aside: I like the fact that we humans think we love because we might be unable to handle the realisation that all is business.
