Crime / Hairstylist Bags 20 Years In Prison For Rape by Petenoir(m): 7:19am On Jul 14, 2020
A 28-year-old hairstylist, Tayo Bakare, was yesterday sentenced to 20 years in prison by an Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court for rape and kidnapping.
The convict had been accused of luring, kidnapping and raping a student on Industrial Training (IT) in one of the media houses in Lagos.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that Justice Abiola Soladoye had found Bakare guilty of four out of the charges of conspiracy, robbery, deprivation of liberty and rape proffered against him by the Lagos State government.
According to the prosecution, led by Arinola Momoh-Ayokanbi, Bakare had lured and raped the student (Miss A) and her friend (Miss B). The prosecutor alleged that Bakare had sometime in August 2017, lured Miss A to a hotel in Ikotun, Lagos by using Miss A’s friend, phone, which he had stolen.
“Unknown to Miss A, she was not chatting with her female friend but the convict. When she got to the hotel room, the convict came into the room and told her that her friend (Miss B) had set her up. He threatened her by saying that he was a member of the ‘Badoo’ cult.
“The convict beat her, raped her and stole her belongings, which included two mobile phones, ATM cards and N2,000. He locked her in the hotel room and left.
“Miss A went to the bathroom and alerted a passer-by who helped her to escape,’’ the prosecutor had told the court.
According to Momoh-Ayokanbi, the convict had also lured, kidnapped and raped Miss B and stolen her mobile phone, which was used to lure her friend Miss A to the hotel.
During the trial, the prosecution called two witnesses while Bakare testified solely in his defence.
One of the prosecution witnesses told the court that Miss A told her parents about her ordeal, who in turn alerted the police. She said Bakare was apprehended while he was trying to lure an undercover police officer to the same hotel.
Bakare, in his testimony, denied raping the two friends. He admitted having sexual intercourse with them because they were prostitutes. The prosecution said the offences contravened sections 260(1)(2), 272, 297(1) and 299 of the Criminal Law of Lagos 2015.
Delivering the judgment, Justice Soladoye discharged and acquitted the convict on four out of the eight-count charge. The judge dismissed the charges because Miss B did not come to court to testify about how she was allegedly robbed, kidnapped and raped by the defendant.
But the judge found Bakare guilty in respect of counts two, four, six and eight respectively. “He shall serve 10-years in respect of count two (conspiracy to commit robbery), 10-years in respect of count four (robbery), 10-years in respect of count six (deprivation of liberty) and twenty-years in respect of count eight (rape). However, these sentences are to run concurrently,’’ Soladoye said.

Crime / Woman Prevents Daughter From Leaving The House For 26 Years by Petenoir(m): 8:58am On Jul 02, 2020
Woman Prevents Daughter From Leaving The House For 26 Years
BY AKINWALE AKINYOADE

How long can your parents ground you before you begin to feel like you are losing your mind? Whatever your answer may be, we are sure the answer is not up to 26 years.
42-year-old Nadezhda Bushueva hasn’t left her mother’s house in the village of Arefinsky, in western Russia since she was 16.
Bushueva’s shocking story was originally featured on Russian television show “By the Way” last week, and has since gone viral in the media.
According to Russian media, Bushueva has not set foot outside her family home for 26 years, despite being in perfect health, because he mother didn’t allow it.
It is gathered that until this month, she has been kept isolated by her mother for years to “protect her from the dangers of the outside world”.
Bushueva had reportedly not washed her hair in 12 years, as evidenced by the giant clump on her head, and hadn’t had a change of clothes in even longer.
She only ventured into the village because of her mother’s ill health and need of medical attention.
Neighbours testify that Tatyana has always been overly protective of her daughter but things spiralled out of control when the older woman retired.
Bushueva was in 8th grade when her mother started forbidding her from going out with other teenagers in the village, and in a couple of years the two had become complete recluses.
Intervention from others were rejected as Tatyana constantly told everyone they were fine and people should mind their own business.
After a while, villagers stopped trying to convince Tatyana to give her daughter more freedom and everyone just went on with their lives.

It remains unclear how Tatyana got her daughter accustomed to the isolated lifestyle but it is believed the girl must have slowly gotten used to things.
When Tatyana took ill earlier this month and needed hospitalisation was when Bushueva ventured out of their home for the first time in 26 years.
Her appearance shocked villagers as she looked unkempt and like she hadn’t bathed in a while.
The assumptions proved correct as when she was brought to the head of the local council, Vasily Tovarnov, the woman revealed that she hadn’t washed her hair in 12 years, hadn’t changed her clothes in even longer than that, had been living on cat food for years and had been sharing a bed with her mother and their cats, some of which were dead…
“So what if there are dead cats on the couch? Maybe I’ll die soon here on this couch as well. My life is worse than that of a cat. A cat has more rights. I am not alive, I don’t even exist. I’m a walking dead,” Nadezhda Bushueva allegedly said.
Despite the above statement, and her apparent desire to “find work and get a passport”, Nadezhda didn’t seem eager to change her lifestyle. Larisa Mikheeva, director of the social security services of the Vachsky district, told RIA Novosty that the 42-year-old cannot be forced into rehabilitation, and that so far she has refused all help, saying that she likes the way she lives now, and that it suits her.
“She is not disabled, she has no mental illness. She is an adult, she just lives with her mother and is used to this lifestyle,” Mikheeva said. “A person must voluntarily agree to receive some services. If they are not mentally unable to make decision, we cannot legally force them.”
Mikheeva added that both social workers and neighbors offered to help Nadezhda at least clean her home before her mother returned from the hospital. They even showed up at her house with garbage bags and cleaning products, but she flat out refused.
“It is very difficult to help people when they are healthy according to documents, and to make them change their idea of life if that person does not want to change anything,” the social worked said.

Crime / Grandma Dies Of Heart Attack After 3 Granddaughters Raped In Front Of Her by Petenoir(m): 8:47am On Jul 02, 2020
Grandma Dies Of Heart Attack After 3 Granddaughters Raped In Front Of Her

South African police is currently investigating the death of a grandmother who died of shock as she watched her three granddaughters brutally raped in her presence.
It is gathered that an intruder in a balaclava broke into the 71-year-old woman’s home in Impendle, South Africa. The intruder is said to have locked the three sisters aged 19, 22 and 25 who live with their grandmother in her bedroom and dragged them out one at a time to rape them.
The trauma of witnessing the horror rape is believed to have caused the granny’s heart to give out.
Family spokesperson Mzandwile Ndlovu said:
“The suspect had locked the three girls in their grandmother’s room and he brought them out one-by-one and raped them.
We found the grandmother in the house but she was already dead and we think that she was so horrified by what she saw in these evil acts that it caused a heart attack.
The three girls said the suspect did not touch her or harm her so it must be so” he said.
Speaking about the criminal act and triple rape, South African police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala said:
“An unknown suspect wearing a balaclava forced his way into a home and raped three family members at gunpoint.
A 71-year-old woman who witnessed the incident collapsed and died and we are appealing for anyone who may have information about the incident to contact the police” she said.
KwaZulu-Natal Social Development Council Member spokesman Nonhlanhla Khoza said:
“We are severely pained by these appalling incidents of rape and murder of our women. We have seen a dramatic increase in incident of gender-based violence, murder and rape. I urge the public to assist the police with any information that could lead to an arrest.
These incidents of callous rapes of our women will only come to an end when communities work together with the police and we send our heartfelt condolences to the victims”.
An appeal was made for witnesses to come forward by the grandmother’s 31-year-old son. He spoke to TimesLive saying:
“I think my mother died from a heart attack because the perpetrator did not attack her but he did pull my nieces out of a room and raped them one by one in front of her.
“There has been no justice for my nieces who are devastated. In this case the rapist saw my mother collapse from the shock and horror but carried on. Where is the humanity?”
The South African Police launched a fresh appeal for witnesses two months after the death of the grandmother and the rape of the three sisters to help them arrest the offender.

First in all, I'm a strong believer in a better Nigeria.
Recently I've come to realize that holding on to some things or ideology may literally hold you down, drag you back, retard your progress etc.
With the recent agitations in the land, I can't help but wonder what is really our problem? What is wrong with letting peace reign?
Why holding on to what is determined to hold us back, retard our progress, distract our progress?
What will it cost us to let go?
Let these people go please.
I come in peace.
