Dr. David Olofu, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Senatorial Aspirant for Benue South Senatorial District, has launched his campaign office headquarters in Otukpo, signaling the start of his bid for the 2027 Senatorial Election.

At the unveiling of the campaign office opposite Saint Francis Primary School, Otukpo, Dr Olofu also constituted and inaugurated his campaign advisory council with sir John Ngbede, a political juggernaut as chairman and Honourable Chris Adaba Abah popularly known as Mad Lion as the Director-General.

In his address, Dr. Olofu emphasized the need for a new direction, promising to deliver a leadership that is sensitive and responsive to the needs and yearning of the people.

"The people want results, positive results in governance that go beyond rhetoric to real impact, visible progress, and meaningful change in their daily lives," he said.

He highlighted the challenges facing Benue South Senatorial District including insecurity, stalled development, and economic hardship, vowing to prioritize the well-being of the people over politics.

"We will build systems that create opportunities, drive growth, restore security, and deliver tangible development to every community," he pledged.

Chairman of the David Olofu Campaign Advisory Council, His Excellency, Sir John Ngbede, described Olofu's campaign as a movement for the betterment of Idomaland, saying the time has come for a change.

The campaign advisory council is made up of , prominent individuals, including Sir John Ngbede, Hon Goday Samuel, Prof David Salifu, and Dr David Olofu himself.

Others were - Chief Patel Ogbu, Dr Steve Onmeje, Hon Hassan Saleh, Barr Jacob Ogwuche, Group Capt Steve Adah, Hon Igbiri Idah, Engr Okpe Onah, Rt Hon Samson Okwu, Prince Idikwu, Hon Abeje Egwa, Ogirh Benjamin, Ijachi Ogwuche, Donald Agida and Dr Adakole Elijah - Secretary.

Stakeholders from the ADC pledged their support for Olofu's candidacy, signaling a unified front as the party prepares for the upcoming elections.

The RenewedHope Network (TRN), a group founded by the former Governor of Zamfara State, Sen. Abdulaziz Yari, has asked opposition figures in Nigeria to berry their angers and open their eyes clearly to see several achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in every sectors.

Senator Yari’s group also admonished Nigerians not to listen to lies, propaganda and deliberate distortions against the person of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu or his government by he opposition seeking his office.

Speaking with newsmen at a solidarity rally during the ongoing National Convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), leader of the tecnical committee of TRN, Comrade Okpokwu Ogenyi, said the group led thousands of Nigerians supporters of the President to the National Convention to show support and appreciate several achievements recorded by the President.

While appreciating the founder of the group, Senator Abdulaziz Yari,
who thought it wise to initiate the Network group in propagating the achievements of the President and his commitment to the people of the of Nigeria, Comrade Ogenyi, said TRN will continue to network the grassroots in sensitizing Nigerians for the implementation of the RenewedHope mandate for the betterment of all.

According to him, the President has demonstrated capacity, commitment and willingness to lead Nigeria to the promise land through his policies, programmes and visible achievements.

“We call on opposition figures and those who feel aggrieved as a result of the ongoing re-engineering and rebuilding of Nigeria by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led government to berry their anger, open their eyes to see the benefits of the ongoing reforms of this administration, as we believe no one can see clearly if eyes are closed.

“As the Nation Nigeria prepares for another election in 2027, we also admonish Nigerians not to listen to lies, propaganda and deliberate distortions against the person of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu or his government.

” We are using this medium to alert Nigerians that spin doctors, propagandists and blackmailers are being hired by the opposition figures to do their deity jobs but we believe that the will of the people will always prevail because we are in majority.”

On why many Governors and prominent politicians are joining APC, Ogenyi said: “APC is indeed in the right direction with thirty two (32) State Governors in the Party. It is in appreciation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that serving Governors and top politicians across Nigeria are trooping to APC because Asiwaju has redefined governance and party administion.”

Speaking on some of the achievements of Tinubu, Ogenyi said:” Predident Tinubu has weakened terrorism, solved the problem of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) that was bedeviled the nation for several years.

“Today, Nigerian students no longer drop out of school as a result of strike or financial difficulty. President Tinubu has resolved the funding crises for the less privileged students through Nigeria Education Loan Funds, Nelfund, his regime has made petroleum products available and at the highest quality, and no one is sleeping at filling station as it used to be.

“It is no longer news that inflation has been subdued by the Tinubu-led federal government, from 34% to 15%, foreign reserve has increased to 48.5 billion Dollars, foriegn loans are being paid off on daily bases, Nigerians in the diaspora are returning home and our economy is fast growing.

“We as members of the RenewedHope Network (TRN) under the national leadership of Senator Abdulaziz Yari are set to mobilise Nigerians in support of the Tinubu’s administion.”

The crusade witness a deluge of miracles, signs, wonders, healings, diverse deliverances, intense worship and praise.

De Norsemen Kclub International (DNKI) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intensify and review Nigeria’s security strategies, as part of broader efforts to address the country’s persistent security challenges.

The call was made in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja to mark the 2026 Eid-al-Fitr celebration, which signifies the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

In the statement signed by its International Publicity Secretary, Mr. Darlington Anugom, the organisation urged the President to prioritise the protection of lives and property, particularly in the face of ongoing threats such as insurgency, banditry and kidnapping.

DNKI stressed that security remains the foremost expectation of Nigerians, noting that no meaningful development could be achieved without peace and stability across the country.

The group further emphasised the need for a coordinated approach involving government, security agencies and citizens to restore confidence and ensure lasting peace.

While congratulating the Muslim Ummah on the successful completion of Ramadan, DNKI described the Eid-al-Fitr period as a time for reflection, urging Nigerians to embrace the values of sacrifice, discipline, compassion and unity.

It called for a collective rededication of the nation to God, stressing that the spiritual lessons of Ramadan should inspire a renewed commitment to national unity, moral integrity and good governance.

The organisation also appealed for sustained prayers and support for Nigerian security personnel, commending their sacrifices in safeguarding the nation under challenging conditions.
“May the Almighty grant them protection, resilience and the wisdom required to overcome the security challenges confronting the nation,” the statement read.

DNKI further urged Nigerians to pray for individuals involved in violent activities, calling for divine intervention to redirect them towards peace and respect for human life.

On leadership, the group appealed for compassionate and people-centred governance, urging leaders at all levels to demonstrate integrity, empathy and a genuine commitment to public service.

“In our commitment to service, let this Eid be the spark that ignites a new era of brotherhood and selfless devotion to the Nigerian project,” it stated.

The organisation also extended condolences to families of victims of a recent bomb blast in Maiduguri, Borno State, praying for the repose of the deceased and strength for those affected.

DNKI reiterated its commitment to promoting peace, unity and humanitarian service, while calling on Nigerians to use the Eid celebration as a turning point for national rebirth.

The presiding pastor of the Masters Place International, Pastor Korede Komaiya has said, "parental blessings are critical" in the fulfilment of purpose and destiny.

Komaiya spoke in a video message recently released, where he made the assertion.

According to the revered cleric, "if you have mother alive, father alive, you have gold mines alive", parental blessings are critical.

Komaiya added, Let your parents enjoy the fruit of their labour, place them on salary even if it's 2000, 'Not comme ci comme sa', even when they don't need it, do it, it is the covenant, you're practicing.

He explained, Something must leave you to your parent, listen carefully to their needs, he emphasised.

Speaking further, Komaiya added, "Don't let mosquito kill your parents and you spend #7m on their burial".

Even, "If they've made mistake, we all do, can you please forgive, be the fulfilment of their dream".

Using this as a backdrop, Komaiya said "Please, you owe your parent one thing, let them die happy".

Some stakeholders of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC have adopted The Renewed Hope Network TRN as a Special Purpose Vehicle to galvanize broad-based support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential elections.


The stakeholders who are leaders of over 1,500 registeted support groups of the party, said the decision was taken after a strategic meeting with the technical team of the TRN led by a seasoned APC mobilizer and a former Senior Special Assistant to the APC National Chairman on Civil Society and Support Groups, Comrade Okpokwu Ogenyi and diplomat, Prof. Tunji John Asaolu.


Deputy Director General of the APC Support Groups Council, Dr. Ak Peters told Vanguard that the TRN is powered by a former Governor of Zamfara state and senator representing Zamfara West, Abdulaziz Yari as a major platform for grassroots mobilization ahead of the 2027 presidential elections.

The statement said as part of its early strategic activities, the Renewed Hope Network has commenced mobilization of Polling Unit Canvassers across all polling units in Nigeria, laying the groundwork for effective grassroots engagement ahead of the January 16, 2027 presidential election.

“The level of acceptability of TRN by Nigerians is unprecedented and the APC Support Groups Council can not be left out”, he said.
According to him, The Renewed Hope Network has already put in place comprehensive structures and strategies aimed at ensuring a resounding victory for President Tinubu in 2027.

“The TRN is committed to building the most formidable grassroots political movement in support of Mr President within a very short time while networking every corner of the Country.

“In APC, we have over 3,500 registered support groups out of which 1,500 have approved partnership with The Renewed-Hope Network TRN.
“We are confident that then other 2,000 groups will join the network between now and Easter,” Peters stated.


He said no effort will be spared in mobilizing Nigerians toward ensuring that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is sworn in for a second term on May 29, 2027 as far as Senator Yari is involved.

Less than 48 hours after its formal unveiling, the Renewed Network (TRN) is already attracting widespread political interest and grassroots mobilisation across Nigeria, signaling what observers believe could be the early emergence of a coordinated national political platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The initiative is being championed by former Zamfara State governor and Senator representing Zamfara West, Abdulaziz Yari. Shortly after the unveiling, the network’s national facilitators, Mohammed Abubakar and Emmanuel Osita, disclosed that thousands of Nigerians from different regions had begun registering as members, while several political stakeholders quietly indicated interest in associating with the platform.

In a statement, the facilitators revealed that individuals linked to more than 30 state governors, alongside senior advisers and other influential political figures across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones, reportedly reached out to signal interest in the initiative shortly after it was announced.

Political analysts note that the swift response underscores the growing attention surrounding the movement, which many view as part of a broader political strategy aimed at consolidating nationwide support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubuahead of a possible re-election bid in the 2027 general elections.

Facilitators of the platform maintain that the Renewed Network is the result of months of consultations rather than a sudden development. According to them, the initiative emerged after extensive engagements led by Senator Yari with political stakeholders, grassroots leaders, youth organisations, women’s groups, and former elected officials across the country.

The consultations, they said, highlighted a shared concern among political actors about sustaining and strengthening the Renewed Hope Agenda associated with the Tinubu administration.

Insiders explained that the discussions eventually led to the decision to create a structured national platform capable of mobilising grassroots support and coordinating political participation across the federation.

The network is said to involve political actors, community organisers, women leaders, youth organisations, and former councillors drawn from Nigeria’s 774 local government areas.

Supporters of the initiative argue that the movement is anchored on the belief that Nigeria is gradually entering a phase of economic recovery and institutional reform under the leadership of President Tinubu.

They also noted that the network aims to promote civic engagement, broaden political inclusion, and encourage more Nigerians to participate actively in democratic processes.

Preparations are already underway for a major national launch of the Renewed Network. According to insiders, the event is expected to attract thousands of supporters, political stakeholders, youth leaders, women’s organisations, and delegates from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

In the meantime, the group has called on Nigerians—particularly young people, women, community leaders, and political stakeholders—to join what organisers describe as a rapidly expanding national movement.

With the level of early interest already recorded, observers say the Renewed Network could soon emerge as an influential political platform shaping national political discourse as preparations toward the 2027 elections gather pace.

The European University of Nigeria (EUN), Abuja, has unveiled an ambitious reform-driven agenda aimed at addressing systemic gaps in Nigeria’s tertiary education sector, as it prepares to hold its maiden matriculation ceremony on March 7, 2026.

Speaking during a press briefing in Abuja on Monday, March 2nd 2026, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Emmanuel Chinedum Ibezim, said the institution was established to deliver globally competitive education rooted in innovation, stability, affordability, and strong industry relevance.

Located at Drive 6, Prince and Princess Estate, Duboyi District, Abuja, EUN is a privately owned, European-aligned university positioned to provide an alternative to the challenges facing Nigeria’s university system.

The University’s Chancellor is Hon. Prince Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu, MFR, while the Pro-Chancellor is Prof. Charles Okechukwu Esimone, former Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University and Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Science.

Maiden Matriculation Ceremony
Admissions for the 2025/2026 academic session are ongoing for candidates who scored 150 and above in UTME. The university has invited members of the press and the general public to its maiden matriculation ceremony scheduled for Saturday, March 7, 2026, which will formally usher in its pioneer cohort of students.

The Senior Pastors of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Paul Enenche, and wife Dr Mrs Becky Enenche on Sunday donated a patrol vehicle to the Federal Road Safety Corps and Nigerian fire service operating along Airport Road in Lugbe, Abuja.

The gesture formed part of the church’s continued commitment to supporting public safety and emergency response services within the Federal Capital Territory.

Speaking during the presentation, Enenche stated that the gesture was rooted in the ministry's commitment to "serving God and serving humanity," noting that it is impossible to love God without showing tangible love for human beings.

​"What we are doing right now is to ensure that lives are saved and to ensure that the work is effortless for the personnel.

"We want to ensure people fulfill their days instead of being cautious because of the safety situation," he said.

​The cleric noted that since the FRSC is the agency charged with providing safety services, the church decided to partner with them to reduce tragedies to the barest minimum.

​"While we pray, we work as well. Our strength is the Lord. When God puts a burden on your heart, He is burdened for human beings. It is not possible to walk closely with God and not feel passionately for humanity," Enenche added.

In addition, Enenche officially dedicated a fire service facility established by the church to respond to emergencies along the Airport Road corridor.

“The fire truck and trained fire personnel are already on ground and will respond to emergency calls along Airport Road, whether it involves a vehicle fire, a house fire or any related incident,” he stated.

In her remarks, Dr Becky Enenche assured that the public should expect more of such interventions, noting that the ministry has consistently reached out to various sectors across the country and the world.

Receiving the patrol vehicle on behalf of the Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed, Assistant Corps Marshal Godwin Omiko, described the donation as a "wonderful gesture" and a call to action for other well-meaning Nigerians.

"Road safety is a shared responsibility. Today, Dunamis International has answered their call in assisting us to make the environment safe for motorists. The Corps Marshal is extremely happy with this partnership," he said.

Omiko, however, cautioned that the donation would not exempt members of the church from traffic laws.

On his part, the Federal Capital Territory Commandant, Felix Theman, expressed appreciation to Enenche and his wife for their continued support toward road safety operations.

The Corps also conferred on Pastor Enenche and his wife the highest honour of Honorary Special Marshals of the Federal Road Safety Corps.

Describing the recognition as a call to greater responsibility, Theman said:

“This honour comes with significant responsibility. We are only giving you a label for more work, and we believe the Lord will strengthen you for it.”

He urged members of the church and viewers across various centres to emulate the cleric by becoming advocates of road safety.

“Since our Senior Pastor has become an advocate for safety, everyone here and those watching from viewing centres should also become road safety ambassadors by obeying traffic rules and avoiding overspeeding,” he said.

The Lugbe Unit Commanders, Mr Muktar Garga, expressed deep appreciation, stating that the Senior Pastor fulfilled the promise of the vehicle within two weeks of a formal request being made.

The presiding pastor of Masters Place International, Pastor Korede Komaiya, has said "Life is warfare never funfare".

Komaiya made the assertion in a recently released and shared video message.

He said "Never be surprised that you have battles, the greater your destiny, the greater your battles".

According to the revered cleric, "A life without battles is a dead life, your battles shows your importance, glory and it indicate your greatness".

He explained that, Small destiny attracts small battles while the greater the battle, the greater glory and "things are manipulated from the spirit realm to happen physically".

Stressing and emphasising that, "if you joke with your destiny, you will end up a joke".

Using this a backdrop about his own transformation, stages in life and fulfilling destiny, Komaiya concluded "No one can fulfill their destiny in a grand style without the annointing".

The political landscape of Adamawa State may be on the verge of a major realignment as speculations continue to mount over a possible defection of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Reacting to the development, Yakubu Bello Bashir Esq., PhD (Ubandoma Bazza II), a frontline senatorial aspirant for Adamawa North Senatorial District under the APC, described the potential move as “historic” and a significant boost for the party in the state.

Bashir noted that Governor Fintiri’s political trajectory reflects resilience, strategic depth, and sustained grassroots dominance. He recalled that Fintiri began his legislative career in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, where he emerged as Minority Leader during his first term and later rose to become Speaker. He subsequently served twice as Acting Governor before contesting and winning the governorship election in 2019 and securing re-election in 2023 under the PDP.

According to Bashir, Fintiri’s leadership consolidated the PDP’s dominance in the state, producing three Senators, five members of the House of Representatives, and retaining control of the governorship. He said such electoral strength and political structure were built over time through consistent grassroots engagement and strategic mobilization.

“Adamawa politics is largely determined at the grassroots, and Governor Fintiri has demonstrated an uncommon ability to organize, mobilize, and win elections across wards and local governments,” Bashir stated.

He added that if the governor formally joins the APC, it would significantly strengthen the party’s grassroots reach and reposition it ahead of the 2027 general elections. He further argued that such a move would enhance federal-state collaboration and consolidate party structures across the state.

Bashir also commended Fintiri’s administration, asserting that even political opponents have acknowledged his efforts in delivering infrastructure and governance reforms. He referenced the visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to commission projects in the state as evidence of the governor’s political relevance and performance.

Describing Fintiri as a seasoned politician with proven electoral capacity, Bashir maintained that his possible defection would represent more than a party switch, but a major political realignment capable of redefining party dynamics in Adamawa.

He urged members of the APC in the state to welcome the governor should the move materialize, emphasizing the need for unity and strategic consolidation ahead of future electoral contests.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official confirmation from Governor Fintiri regarding plans to leave the PDP.

The Abuja Chapter of De Norsemen Kclub International (DNKI) on Saturday, February 14, 2026, hosted its 2026 Welcome Back Party with a strong message of unity, service to humanity, and commitment to democratic values.

Addressing distinguished members, elders, invited guests, and families at the event, the Chapter Chairman, Comrade Solomon Momoh, described the gathering as more than a social celebration, but a symbolic moment of renewal and collective responsibility.

With the theme, “The Dawn of a New Saga,” Momoh said the event marked not just the beginning of a new calendar year, but the commencement of a fresh chapter in the chapter’s journey of brotherhood and humanitarian service.

“As the tides of time usher us into the year 2026, we gather not merely to mark another year, but to ignite a fresh chapter in our collective journey,” he stated. “Today represents renewal, resilience, and the rebirth of our shared commitment to unity and service.”

He emphasized that the Welcome Back Party was a celebration of the core values that bind the organization together brotherhood, legacy, loyalty, and love noting that the DNKI Abuja Chapter has remained a symbol of solidarity and humanitarian outreach despite prevailing challenges.

Momoh commended members and their families for their unwavering support, stressing that their presence and dedication give meaning to the chapter’s existence.

Highlighting the socio-economic challenges facing many Nigerians, the chairman urged members to redouble their humanitarian efforts in 2026.

“Service to humanity remains our watchword, and compassion must remain our guiding light,” he said. “Government alone cannot shoulder the entire burden of development. With the continued support and commitment of organizations like DNKI, the load can be significantly reduced, and hope strengthened at the grassroots level.”

Momoh also stated that the chapter’s humanitarian initiatives would align with national development goals, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, adding that civil society organizations have a vital role to play in complementing government policies aimed at improving the lives of citizens.

On matters of national importance, the DNKI chairman addressed the ongoing debate surrounding the Electoral Amendment Bill. He appealed to lawmakers to carefully review clauses that may undermine the collective will of voters or create room for manipulation of election results.

“Nigeria’s democracy thrives on the confidence of its people,” he noted. “Democracy, by definition, is a system where power resides with the people and is expressed through their votes. The elected cannot and must not be greater than the will of the electorate.”

He warned that any action suggesting that votes may not count could erode public trust in the electoral process, especially as the country approaches the 2027 general elections.

Momoh, however, commended the House of Representatives for passing provisions in the Electoral Amendment Bill that promote and mandate real-time electronic transmission of election results, describing the measure as a significant step toward enhancing transparency, accountability, and public confidence in Nigeria’s democratic system.

“As we celebrate, let us remember that the dawn of a new saga demands renewed responsibility,” he concluded. “Together, let us build a stronger chapter, a stronger community, and a stronger nation.”

The event ended on a celebratory note, with members raising a toast to unity, resilience, and a future defined by hope and service to humanity.

The Federal Government has again reaffirmed the suspension of all enforcement actions relating to the proposed ban on sachet alcohol and 200ml PET bottle alcoholic products, warning the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to desist forthwith from further sealing of factories and warehouses.

This renewed directive follows a joint intervention by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) and the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), both of which have raised serious concerns over the security implications of continued enforcement actions in the absence of a fully implemented National Alcohol Policy.

According to OSGF and NSA, the National Alcohol Policy has now been signed by the Federal Ministry of Health in line with the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. However, they stressed that until the policy is fully implemented and further policy direction is issued by the Office of the SGF, NAFDAC must refrain from all enforcement measures, including factory shutdowns, warehouse sealing, and public emphasis on the sachet alcohol ban.

The SGF and NSA jointly warned that the continued sealing of warehouses and de facto banning of sachet alcohol products, without a harmonised policy framework, is already creating economic disruptions and poses a growing security threat, particularly given the impact on employment, supply chains, and informal distribution networks across the country.

This position reinforces an earlier directive issued by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation in December 2025, which formally suspended all actions relating to the proposed ban pending consultations and a final government decision.

In a statement issued by the Special Adviser on Public Affairs to the SGF, Terrence Kuanum, the OSGF disclosed that it had received an official correspondence from the House of Representatives Committee on Food and Drugs Administration and Control, dated November 13, 2025. The letter, referenced NASS/10/HR/CT.53/77 and signed by the committee’s Deputy Chairman, Hon. Uchenna Harris Okonkwo, raised concerns over NAFDAC’s proposed enforcement actions and drew attention to existing resolutions of the National Assembly on the matter.

The OSGF explained that, in line with its statutory role as Chairman of the Cabinet Secretariat, it is currently reviewing all legislative resolutions, public health considerations, economic implications, and national interest factors surrounding the issue.

“Accordingly, all actions, decisions, or enforcement measures relating to the ongoing ban on sachet alcohol are to be suspended pending the final consultations and implementation of the National Alcohol Policy and the issuance of a final directive,” the statement emphasized.

The Office further clarified that any enforcement action carried out by NAFDAC or any other agency without due clearance and resolution from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation is invalid and should be disregarded by the public until an official position is formally communicated.

With the latest intervention by the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Federal Government has now elevated the matter beyond regulatory concerns, stressing that premature enforcement without coordinated policy implementation could destabilize communities, worsen unemployment, and trigger avoidable security challenges.

The SGF and NSA reiterated that the warning stands, and that NAFDAC is expected to cease forthwith from further enforcement actions or public emphasis on the sachet alcohol ban until the National Alcohol Policy is fully operationalized and further directives are issued by the appropriate authorities.

The Federal Government assured Nigerians and industry stakeholders that a final, balanced, and lawful decision would be communicated in due course, following comprehensive consultations and inter-agency coordination in the overall interest of public health, economic stability, and national security.

On the other hand, in Gboko, Benue State, 91 persons were attended to medically, while 42 dental scaling and polishing were done, while in Makurdi, 62 persons were attended to, and 264 persons were also attended to and given various prescriptions, 106 dental scaling, polishing were done and 2 straight forward extraction was successfully carried out.

Some medical emergencies were handled in Ankpa, Makurdi and were referred respectively.

Cases diagnosed and services offered included general medical care, treatment of hypertension, malaria, diabetes, skin conditions, ulcers and urinary tract infections.

Laboratory tests such as malaria parasite, Widal, Hiv 1& 2, hepatitis B & C, Random/Fasting blood sugar, Abdominal pelvic screenings were also conducted.

Dental services, including scaling, polishing, straight forward extraction, were provided and dental consultations were provided and persons that needed specialist dental care or oral surgeries were referred accordingly.

While the eye clinic handled consultations and prescribed corrective glasses for patients.

Also, Several people benefited from food items, clothings and several relief materials of the revered clerics during the week long program.

The week long loaded programme ended at the Benue State University Makurdi (now MAOUM) campus apostolic invasion, during which Dr Enenche prayed for the students, and declared peace, total restoration and end to all forms of evil vices in the entire university community.

The Management of Jos Electricity Distribution Plc has called on its unmetered customers to take advantage of the Meter Asset Providers (MAP) scheme to be metered.

In a press statement issued on Saturday by the Head Corporate Communications of the company Dr. Friday Adakole Elijah noted that the Managing Director, Engr Abdu Bello Mohammed made the call during the mobile re-launching of the scheme at various locations in Plateau State.

Represented by Engr Felix Shalzim Adamu of the Metering Department and Engr Nasiru Faskari who is the Desk Officer of MAP at Polo, Rantiya, Rukuba and State Low-Cost areas, the Chief Executive Officer said there were enough meters at the disposal of the vendors.

The Managing Director who was optimistic that shortly, all customers of the company would be metered urged them to embrace the scheme without delay.

Engr Mohammed explained that the meter remains the only credible implement that could be used in measuring energy.

He disclosed that the company has engaged the services of credible vendors who have made available enough meters awaiting customers’ patronage.

According to the Managing Director, a single-phase meter costs N63,06.00 while a three-phase meter costs N117, 010. 00 stressing that the cost of the meter would be repaid to customers via energy within a given period as specified by the regulator.

He clarified that upon payment of the prescribed fees and presentation of evidence of payment to the Disco, the customer would be metered within ten working days.

Tell us a bit about your background? Where you grew up, schools attended, family, etc
My full name is Victor Ukor, I’m also known as Veecii. I am from Delta State, in the Southern part of Nigeria. I was born in Benin City, Edo State and grew up there until I went to study Physics at Delta State University Abraka, Delta to pursue an undergraduate degree in Physics. During my National Youth Service in Lagos, I took a chance to produce music professionally and right after my NYSC, I relocated to the United Kingdom where I bagged a master’s degree in Artificial intelligence at the Birmingham City University, England.

How did you start producing music and do you play any instruments?

My family was my earliest music influence; my brother played the piano and bass guitar and my mum sang a lot around the house. I grew up exposed to a variety of music genres and music instruments at church. I started as a drummer then I learned how to play the piano from just practicing myself and playing at church. During my service year in Lagos, I was blessed to work with different producers and singers, that helped me hone my skills as a music producer and push me further on this path as a music producer.

Describe your creative process in any song?
I draw inspiration from range of sources and incorporate new techniques into creating music depending on how I’m feeling at that time. As a producer my process could be coming up with an idea for the song. This might involve brainstorming with then artist what they have in mind, listening to references, or drawing inspiration on my own experience just like how I have visioned my idea. It really just depends on my mood and the artist I am working with. Afrobeats is now global.

How does this make you feel knowing that your productions will contribute to it?

I’m happy to be a part of a movement that uses music to bridge cultural divides and unite individuals from different backgrounds while also highlighting the rich and varied musical legacy of Africa. Seeing how Afrobeat is influencing and motivating musicians all around the world and knowing that my own efforts are affecting this dynamic and colourful genre is exciting. I must commend Sarz, Masterkraft, Blaise Beatz Tempoe, Rexxie and all the other gifted producers working hard and creatively, to put our music on the map. I love to experiment with sound and push the boundaries of what’s possible in music and so I strive to contribute to afrobeat by bringing my own unique style and sound to each production, while remaining true to the roots and spirits of the genre.


Why did you choose to work with new artists and not bigger artists on “Black Energy”?

For a variety of reasons, I decided to collaborate on my project with emerging artists. In my opinion, emerging artists frequently offer a certain energy and perspective to their work that can be challenging to locate in more seasoned artists. They frequently have a competitive spirit and a willingness to take artistic chances, which can result in highly avant-garde and thrilling music. Working with emerging artists also enables me to participate in the creative process more directly and actively.

The Nigerian entertainment industry is very competitive. What makes Veecii different from the pack?

Well, I can say that I’m unique approach to creating music. I believe that my sound transcends borders and speaks to audiences of all backgrounds and cultures. By blending traditional African rhythms and melodies with modern production techniques and sounds, I can create music that is both deeply rooted in the Afrobeat tradition and highly accessible and appealing to a global audience. Whether I am working with established artists or emerging talent, my goal as a producer is always to create music that speaks to people on a fundamental level, regardless of their background or cultural identity. By drawing upon a wide range of influences and sounds, and by staying true to the spirit and energy of the Afrobeat genre, I am able to create music that truly transcends borders and speaks to listeners around the world.

Critics and enthusiasts say that producers aren’t given enough credit for their work. What do you think?

No doubt this is true but it is beginning to change as more and more people realise how important producers are to the creation of music. Producers are increasingly acclaimed for their special abilities and talents as well as for their roles in the creation of some of the greatest and most well-known songs and albums in history. At the same time, I think it is our responsibility as producers to keep fighting for more respect and appreciation for what we do. We can ensure that producers receive the credit and recognition they merit for their significant contributions to the music industry by speaking up for ourselves and our peers and by carrying on creating innovative and captivating music that grabs the attention of listeners and critics alike.

What is next after this song?

While I am certainly proud of the work that I have done on this song, and the EP. I am already thinking about what comes next. I’ll keep pushing myself creatively and exploring new sounds and styles. I am constantly seeking out new collaborations and opportunities to work with talented artists from a range of different backgrounds and musical tradition. I am also mindful of the need to stay true to the core principles that have guided me throughout my career as a producer. This means remaining committed to producing music that is both innovative and accessible, that speaks to audiences of all backgrounds and cultures.

I have an arsenal of unlimited songs that I have coming, and everyone should watch out for me as I intend to give the fans unlimited good music, hits upon hits. A youth group under the aegis of Nigerian Progressive Youth Congress (NPYC), has urged the Nigeria Police and the Department of State Security (DSS) to arrest an ex-convict, George Uboh, for blackmailing and publishing false information against over 200 prominent Nigerians and organisations.

The group made the call on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at a well-attended press conference in Abuja.

The President, Dr. Rotimi Adefarasin, and Secretary, Mallam Ibrahim Ahmad who addressed the conference, said it was about time the serial blackmailer, Uboh was tame before he set the country in flames with his fake news and blackmail mill.

The statement read, "The attention of the Nigerian Progressive Youth Congress (NPYC), an umbrella body for all sociocultural youth groups from across the country, has been drawn to the criminal activities of one George Uboh who goes about blackmailing and raising false alarms against politicians, business moguls, government agencies, private organizations and public figures to extoll his victims. The questionable fellow has blackmailed over 200 individuals and organizations in Nigeria.

"His blackmail mill is not only dubious but a mischievous attempt to tarnish the hard-earned and unblemished images of those distinguished Nigerians and organizations. Therefore, the Nigerian Progressive Youth Congress condemns in the strongest terms the scandalous, malicious and defamatory publications of George Uboh against eminent Nigerians and organizations. NPYC finds his cyber gangsterism as baseless, illegal and very unacceptable.

"Our findings on the unhinged fellow, Uboh, revealed that he is an infamous fraudster and ex-convict who has no relevance and character apart from being used for pen thuggery and propaganda machine in the hands of unscrupulous politicians. Uboh was convicted and sentenced to three years imprisonment by Justice Sunday Ebenezer Aladetoyinbo of the Federal Capital Territory High Court Abuja in 2016 for converting the property of the defunct Police Equipment Foundation to his own use. Such unrepentant fraudster should never be trusted.

"George Uboh, a certified fraudster was previously convicted of wire fraud in the United States. He was prosecuted after US law enforcement agents carried out a major raid on a credit card and bank fraud ring led by Uboh in Georgia in 1992. He eventually came out of the US jail on January 16, 2001. Typical of notorious criminals, despite being jailed twice, Uboh has refused to change his ways.

"Uboh sensationally accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of diverting proceeds from recovered assets. He also accused the House of Representatives panel, set up to look into the 48 million barrels of oil that were allegedly illegally sold in China, of lacking transparency. He has occasionally disrespected the Federal Government with his endless false alarms of corruption and money laundry in ministries, agencies and parastatals.

"This serial blackmailer and fraudster own a magazine that he uses to blackmail politicians and bigwigs who refused to pay ransom to his blackmail mill. It is on record that the notorious cyber gangster, George Uboh has blackmailed many prominent Nigerians including Governors Olukayode Fayemi, Godwin Obaseki, Ifeanyi Okowa, and Aminu Tambuwal of Ekiti, Edo, Delta and Sokoto states respectively. Others are Governors Yahaya Bello, Sanni Bello, Samuel Ortom, Darius Ishiaku, and Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Kogi, Niger, Benue, Taraba and Adamawa states respectively.

"Even the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Dr. Godwin Emefiele, the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and Senator Andy Uba, former Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial Zone and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Anambra State, are not left out of George Uboh's blackmail mill.

The President of An Abuja-based Non-Governmental Organization, the League of Concerned Women For Equity and Justice, Honourable Patience Ene Akor has commended the Governor of Benue State, Dr Samuel Ortom for initiating a bill that would protect widows in the state.

The commendation was contained in a press release she personally signed and circulated to the media on Saturday.


According to Akor, “The bill when passed into law, no doubt would accelerate the emancipation of Benue widows who have over the years been subjected to human degradation as a result of the unfortunate situations they found themselves”.

She explained that “What this ordinance sought to remedy were those mundane and anachronistic cultural norms and practices that prevent widows from enjoying the inheritance of their deceased’s husbands upon death”.

According to her, “By initiating this law, Governor Samuel Ortom has once again demonstrated that he is not only a father to all and sundry but a true and compassionate leader. And we are ecstatic by this unique gesture”.


She, therefore thanked the Governor for this bold but noble move and prayed to God to preserve him for the betterment of humanity.

The Benue Youth Forum, BYF has read with utter shock and disappointment a statement by President Muhammadu Buhari wherein he blamed Governor Samuel Ortom for the Federal Government’s inability to protect lives and property in Benue state.

In the said statement by the loquacious Garba Shehu, the President claims that the security situation in Benue state was aggravated by Governor Ortom’s refusal to accept and work on intelligence given to the Benue governor.


What was most laughable about the statement is how the President would choose to compare himself with a state Governor in terms of achievements. And talking about achievements, perhaps the President needs to be reminded that no federal road is motorable in any part of Benue State as we speak. His administration has abandoned the state in every aspect of development.

In a statement signed by the President of the Benue Youth Forum Comrade Terrence Kuanun he noted that Mr. Garba Shehu should inform Mr. President that more than 200 innocent Benue people have been killed by armed herdsmen in the last two months and President Buhari or any of his appointees have not bothered to visit the state to see the level of devastation caused by the attacks and to console the people.


BYF wonders if Ortom’s alleged refusal to treat intelligence as expected is responsible for the President’s failure to end banditry, kidnapping, terrorism, religious tension and general insecurity especially in the North and his home state of Katsina.

The President apparently wants Nigerians to believe that states like Kaduna, Plateau, Zamfara, Sokoto, Katsina, Borno and others are experiencing massive bloodletting because the governors of those states failed to accept and work on intelligence available to them.


It is indeed unfortunate that the President has a tradition of blaming others for his colossal failure to guarantee the security and welfare of Nigerians.

Also worrisome is the President’s celebration of the defeat of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 elections in Benue state. But mocking Benue people does not in anyway invalidate the fact that Buhari and the All Progressives Congress, APC used instruments of state to militarize the polls and practically captured the state for their cronies who they believe would subvert the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law of the state to cede land to Fulani pastoralists.

Buhari should be aware that Benue people are still standing tall despite the militarization of the elections and would not be cowed by the antics of enemies of the state.


It was ironic and shameful that a federal government which cannot protect Nigerians would deploy heavy military presence to Benue state to intimidate the people and ensure that its favorite candidates won the elections.

The Benue Youth Forum also expects the governor-elect to be mindful of the fact that he is seen as an ally of enemies of the state and should be cautious not to mortgage the lives of the people for political convenience and correctness.

We call on the Benue APC to retrace its steps and change the narrative of rationalizing the killings in Benue state and desist from accusing the people of killing their loved ones.

We once again state our resolve to stand by the law banning open grazing in Benue state and maintain our commitment to legally resisting any attempt to tamper with the law and pave way for land grabbers and merchants of death to have a field day in the state.

Decrying the high rate of vandalism, the JED Managing Director Engr. Abdu Mohammed who spoke at the beginning of a 3-day workshop in the city of Jos on Tuesday said the new measure is aimed at curtailing the threat of vandals in the four states of Bauchi, Benue, Gombe, and Plateau respectively.


He said in addition to the drones and CCTV cameras, security operatives have been mobilized and well-detailed to aid the company in apprehending criminals who are bent on vandalizing electricity facilities.

In addition, Mohammed advised communities to take ownership of the installations in their localities, as it will help in safeguarding transformers and other electrical equipment closer to them.


He assured of a steady power supply if the activities of vandals can be halted and also promised that the company will provide more meters for its customers who have not been metered.

Responding to private individuals or companies who would want to invest in meter procurement, the JED boss said regulators now allow third parties, which are nonlicensed operators, to invest in the system through a project agreement.

“Any individual, corporate organization, or community that wants to invest in the system now has the opportunity to do so. A structured repayment program is also fashioned into the agreement”, Mohammed said.

The Managing Director disclosed that the company was poised to meter every consumer by injecting over 417, 000 meters into its network.

According to him, JED has sealed all contractual agreements with meter providers, the world bank, and National Mass Metering Programme (NMMP).

The Managing Director further explained that with the NMMP phase one coming into play very soon, the company is set to meter more of its customers.

“With World Bank Intervention being in process, we expect 305,000 from NMMP phase one and also expect another over 100,000 in the World Bank Intervention program and currently, we have 12,000 meters processed two days ago.

“We have the MAP still in progress with other initiatives in place, our customers will see traction in this direction”, Mohammed said while answering questions from journalists.

Responding to the third-partyvestors, the JED boss said regulators now allow third parties, which are nonlicensed operators, to invest in the system through a project agreement.

Speaking earlier, Commissioner, Consumer Affairs, National Electricity Regulation Commission, (NERC) Hajia Aisha Mahmud, said the purpose of organizing a 3-day workshop is to educate customers on their rights and any other information they need to know regarding the electricity industry.

She explained further, “Metering is one of the biggest challenges faced in this industry. A couple of years ago, the commission together with the federal government came up with a different Intervention program to make sure that customers are metered”.


The Commissioner further disclosed that the purpose of organizing the 3-day workshop was to educate customers on their rights and any other information they need to know regarding the electricity industry adding that, “We also want to resolve their complaint on the spot”.

Abdul Usman Shuaibu has call on the President elect, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu to make Nigerian youth his number one priority in policy making and inclusivity in his government noting that the youths have been marginalized for a long time.


Amb. Abdul who writes from Nasarawa State noted that the Nigerian government has been grappling with the issue of youth inclusiveness in governance for a long time. Despite the fact that the country has a large population of young people, their voices and opinions have often been marginalized in government decision-making processes.

However, he was confident that the incoming government under the watch of His Excellency, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will give a facelift of the challenges faced by Nigerian youths.

One of the key ways that the Tinubu-led government can address the issue of youth inclusivity is by appointing more young people to key positions in government.

This would not only give young people a seat at the table, but it would also help to infuse new ideas and perspectives into government decision-making. In addition, young people should be given the opportunity to participate in decision-making processes through youth councils, forums, and other platforms that enable them to express their opinions and concerns.

Another important aspect of youth inclusivity in government is the need to address the issue of youth unemployment. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, Nigeria's youth unemployment rate stood at 42.5% in the second quarter of 2020. This is a worrying statistic that underscores the urgent need for government intervention to create more job opportunities for young people.

The Tinubu-led government should prioritize job creation for young people by investing in sectors such as agriculture, technology, and renewable energy, which have the potential to create a large number of jobs.

Furthermore, the government should also prioritize education and skills development for young people. This includes investing in vocational training programs, providing scholarships and grants for young people to pursue higher education, and promoting entrepreneurship among young people. By equipping young people with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the workforce, the government can help to unlock their potential and contribute to the development of the country.

In addition to these measures, the Tinubu-led government should also prioritize the protection and promotion of the rights of young people. This includes addressing issues such as gender-based violence, child marriage, and discrimination against marginalized groups of youth. By promoting inclusivity and equality, the government can create a more just and equitable society that benefits all Nigerians, ranging from young and the old. 

Amb. Abdul concluded that, youth inclusivity should be a key priority for the incoming government under the watch of Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The Acting Director General of the National Commission for the Co-ordination and Control of the Proliferation of Small Arms and Light Weapons, Dr. Baba Mohammed has enjoined state and zonal directors as well as officers and men of the commission to get set for orientation and subsequent training as the NATCOM bill passed by the National Assembly awaits presidential assent soon.

Dr. Mohammed in a statement expressed confidence in the commission’s ability to curb insecurity especially proliferation of small arms and light weapons, provision of jobs for the teeming youth as well as revenue generation for government.

The Acting Director General solicited the cooperation of other security agencies as always and called on genuine personnel of the commission to remain law abiding at all times.

Engr Mohammed who gave the charge yesterday during Iftar (breaking of fast) before Maghrib prayers said that he was very happy breaking the Fasting with his Christian brethren.

In a statement by the Dr Friday Adakole Elijah Head, Corporate Communications of JED, the Managing Director who preached religious tolerance amongst staff said that all human beings were created by one God and as a result should operate as brothers and sisters.

While commending the organizers of the event, the Managing Director explained that “We are all from the same God. All of us are from Adam and Eve. Nevertheless, God decided to create us separately so that we can live together, to partner together until the end of time”.

He prayed for the well-being of the staff and the company saying, “May God Almighty support us to become the best company in the country”.

He therefore urged staff to exhibit more commitment that could extricate the company from its current financial quagmire and catapult it to the citadel of corporate growth.

In his words, “JED Plc is a big company that can accommodate all of us. We should be committed to it. We should endeavour to move the company to a greater height”.

Earlier, the leader of the organizers, Engr Hamisu Ishak Usman explained that the event was put together in the spirit of Rahamadam which is anchored on mutual understanding, love, and peaceful co-existence by some Muslim staffers of Jos Electricity Distribution Plc at the Headquarters.

In his remarks, the Head, Regional Operations, Engr John Emeruwa appreciated the Managing Director for his leadership acumen saying, “I have worked with several Managing Directors but I have not seen this kind of event in the company here before. What that means is that our MD is a good man. May God continue to bless him”.

The event which was the first of its kind in the company saw both the Muslims and their Christian counterparts breaking the fasting together at the company’s premises at about 6.30 pm (yesterday).

To reposition Jos Electricity Distribution Plc for efficient service delivery, the Managing Director, Engr Abdu Bello Mohammed today (Thursday ) paid a courtesy visit to the Management of Mainstream Energy in Abuja with the cardinal aim of procuring power from them. 


Speaking during the visit, Engr Mohammed disclosed that JED Plc under his leadership was determined to live up to its mandate of delivering qualitative and reliable electricity Supply to its franchise States of Bauchi, Benue, Gombe, and Plateau.

In a statement signed by the Head, Corporate Communications, Dr. Friday Adakole Elijah, Engr. Mohammed said to achieve that feat effectively, there was the need to concretize arrangements on power procurement from a very credible and solid enterprise.

The Managing Director who was optimistic that JED Plc would soon become the best Disco in energy distribution in the country owing to the quantum of investments by the new owner asserted that the visit was centered on effective collaboration between the two companies.

In his words, "The visit to the headquarters of Mainstream Energy was to initiate discussions on bilateral power procurement and other investment-related issues".

Engr Mohammed explained that the visit was consequent upon the directive by the regulator that all the Discos in the country should commence engagement with the power generation companies for bilateral power procurement stressing, "We are here in line with this directive ".

On his part, the Managing Director of Mainstream Energy, Engr Lamu Audu who thanked the Jos Disco boss said he was eagerly looking forward to the actualization of the bilateral discussion.

While commending Engr Mohammed for the visit, the Managing Director of Mainstream Energy disclosed that his company was ready to assist JED Plc to achieve its set goals.

History has shown that wars often start as verbal altercations before progressing into physical duels. This is why wise men don't hesitate to rebuke insensitive and inciting comments, especially when they are made by public figures. Therefore, the Nigerian Democratic Youth Front (NDYF) in a statement signed by its National President, Dr. Gideon Obong and her National Secretary, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Yahaya condemns in very strong terms the recent insensitive comment by a former minister of Aviation and a chieftain of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) Femi Fani-Kayode wherein he insinuated that Muslims in Nigeria would have become an endangered species if the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP) Peter Obi had been declared winner of the presidential election.

Fan-Kayode had in one of his recent senseless rants on Twitter attempted to defame Mr. Obi before our Muslim brothers and sisters by gloating that the purported leaked telephone conversation between him and Bishop David Oyedepo of the Living Faith Church makes him unfit to lead a multi-religious, multi-ethnic, multi-cultural state as a hater of non-Christians.

FFK threw away dignity and morality to spew venomous comments against Obi to please his paymasters ostensibly for speaking for the interest of Muslims and other non-Christians. Ironically, Fani-Kayode who is the one setting Nigeria up for another civil war with his inciting comments, has no moral basis to allege that Obi would have plunged Nigeria into a religious war within a few months if he had emerged as president. His hatred for Obi and inordinate desperation to please his paymasters did not allow him to be in tune with the reality - Peter Obi's media aide, Valentine Obienyem, has since discredited the purported leak audio saying his principal's conversation with Oyedepo was 'badly doctored'.

But a man driven by avarice and prejudice like Femi Fani-Kayode would even feign ignorance to get his already dirty self dirtier for scrubs.

Several groups including the Free Nigeria Movement have fingered Fani-Kayode's party, APC for being behind the failed blackmail. FFK particularly, wasted no time feasting on the stinking carcass of the poorly scripted blackmail. Similar insensitive comments by Fani-Kayode and his ilk fuelled unprecedented violence against non-Yoruba voters in Lagos State at the just-concluded governorship poll. Several lives were lost, no thanks to Femi's injudicious, uncultured and inflammatory speeches. His unruly behavior makes one wonder why such a despicable and disastrous fellow was appointed to speak for the presidential campaign council of a ruling party.

His track records show that he is a monomaniac glutton and an imbecilic bulldog, a political scavenger who is infamous for his political prostitution; a deadbeat father and a serial abuser of women; an incompetent fellow who failed in his home, career, business, and politics.

The Federal Government is endangering the unity of the country by tolerating his insensitive razzmatazz. His incessant incisive comments are setting the ground for Nigeria's disintegration. He needs to be quarantined out of sight for an urgent mental evaluation.

The APC government may choose the continued engagement of the folly and foolhardiness of Femi Fani-Kayode at the risk of widespread civil disturbance and national insecurity. FFK has earned the inglorious reputation of the worst threat to our national unity, peace and security.

We, therefore, call on the Nigeria Police and the Department of State Security to arrest Femi Fani-Kayode within 48 hours, before he set the country in flames. We advise that he be detained in some psychiatric or permanent mental asylum. FFK is a rabies-infected dog that must be tamed before he spreads his rabies of ethnic sentiments, bile and hate that would be detrimental to our corporate existence as a nation.

Finally, we enjoin Nigerians, especially our Muslim brothers and sisters, to disregard Fani-Kayode's fictitious, malicious and hallucinatory claim that Obi hates Muslims and non-Christians. Fani-Kayode, as we all know, is mentally deranged and should not be taken seriously.

Dr. Baba Mohammed, a proponent of the Bill to establish the National Commission for the Coordination and Control of the Proliferation of Small Arms and Light Weapons, has commended the National Assembly for its passage into law.

A statement personally signed by Mohammed, Appreciated the President, federal republic of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari and his vice prof. Yemi Osinbajo for providing enabling environment.

It also saluted the foresight of the president of the senate Dr. Ahmad Lawan, the speaker of the House of Representatives rt. hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, the National Security Adviser retired major general Babagana Monguno and other critical stakeholders holders for believing in the ability of the commission.

The statement appreciated the steadfastness of the teeming Nigerian youth for their perseverance while waiting for due process towards the take off of the commission in full force to be accomplished.

Mohammed further called for restraint and calm on the part of the Nigerian youth believing firmly that there would be light at the end of the tunnel.

The Management of Jos Electricity Distribution Plc has vowed to deal decisively with any staff caught implicated in financial malfeasance or defrauding customers or the company just as it urges customers not to hesitate in paying for their consumed energy.

The Managing Director, Engr Abudu Bello Mohammed made the declaration last Tuesday at the customer's sensitization on Band Upgrade at the company's ICT center, Tudun - Wada Jos.

Engr Mohammed who decried activities of some bad eggs in the system said it was unacceptable in all ramifications.

According to him, not less than 20 staff have been shown the hard way out of the company on account of criminalities stressing that "the company has a zero tolerance for corruption".

He urged customers and members of the public to promptly report erring staff to the management to stem the misdemeanors.

"You should help us to report any staff requesting money from you. You should not pay any illegal money to our staff. We are zero-tolerant of corruption", he said.

The Managing Director who said that it was the desire of the company for all its customers to enjoy uninterrupted power supply in its franchise states of Bauchi, Benue, Plateau, and Gombe described the company as one of the best in terms of energy delivery in the country.

"Without sounding immodest, I am optimistic that you can at the moment attest to the regularity and stability of power supply in Plateau State ", he asserted.

Engr Mohammed however lamented that despite the regularity, stability, and reliability of electricity supply to the customers, they hardly reciprocate in terms of payment for their consumed energy.

He said, "The truth is that our postpaid customers hardly pay for their consumed energy just as some of our prepaid customers are also involved in energy thieveries".

He also disclosed that one of the vices militating against the operations of the company in Plateau State was the menace of vandalism.


Engr Mohammed who urged customers to take ownership of electricity installations in their localities to stem the tide of the hydra-head monster, vandalism disclosed that "No less than 20 Distribution Transformers have been vandalized in March in Plateau State alone".

In his presentation, the Cheif Technical Officer of the company, Engr Hamisu Jigawa who in his "Appraisal of Energy Intake and Ancillary Matters" disclosed that the failure of the customers to meet their financial obligations to the company was tremendously affecting the entire energy market.

According to him, " The bill you are paying goes not only to Jos Electricity Distribution Plc but the entire value chain as even those who supply gas to the Gencos are also beneficiaries".

Engr Jigawa,, therefore urged customers to endeavor to pay for their consumed energy to enable the company to serve them better.

On his part, the Chief Security Officer, Alhaji Musa Abdullahi who spoke on the negative impacts of vandalism also decried the menace of energy depredators and urged customers to endeavor to safeguard electricity facilities in their respective communities.

He advised the various communities on the Plateau to take a cue from their counterparts in Benue, Bauchi, and Gombe by ensuring the protection of the electricity facilities in their areas saying, "If they are vandalized, your communities would not only be plunged into darkness but would also have the socio-economic life truncated in addition to the attendant security burden".

Also speaking, Engr Anas disclosed that the company at the moment was waiting for the commencement of phase one of the National Mass Metering Program and urged customers to embrace Meter Asset Provider Scheme currently in place to be metered.

The Group under the auspices of the Global Network for Sustainable Development (GNSD) has condemned the trending audio of a leaked phone conversation between the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, and the Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church, David Oyedepo.

It also calls on Nigerians to ignore the blackmail and focus on retrieving the mandate they gave to Obi from those who stole it saying the wishes of the people expressed at the poll can never be suppressed.

At the press conference on Tuesday in Abuja, the convener, Amb. Philip Roberts said those calling out Peter Obi today are nothing but a bunch of shameless hypocrites.

Citing section 37 of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended provided for the right to privacy of citizens, he said "Every citizen of Nigeria is entitled to their privacy. Be it in their homes, communications with people by way of letters, telephone or telegraph is protected and guaranteed by the Constitution)."

According to him, "Those who leaked the purported telephone conversation acted in breach of a citizen's confidentiality and right to privacy, and it is malicious, callous, and criminal.

"For placing Obi's purported private conversation in the public domain, those behind this despicable plot are liable to criminal prosecution", he said

Speaking further, he said "We are aware that the All-Progressives Congress (APC) orchestrated this blackmail to distract Nigerians from challenging the party's purchased victory at the fraudulent presidential poll. The purported leaked audio conversation has APC's blackmail mill written all over it.

"The infamous political Almajeri has used his office as the Director, New Media APC Presidential Campaign Council to carry out similar dirty jobs before, especially against Tinubu's opponents.

Roberts said the ruling party has reduced politicking in Nigeria to cheap blackmailing and throwing tantrums. It is a pity that issue-based politics have been murdered by psychopathic sycophants and desperate politicians who thrive on blackmail and character assassination.

" It is a shame that a party that claimed to have won electoral victory has resorted to underhand practices and cheap blackmail against a purported loser instead of defending their purchased victory in court.

"We are even more angered by Femi Fani-Kayode's call to security agencies to "declare Obi a master terrorist" for purportedly "describing the election as a religious war".

"Let us not forget his recent inciting comments that fuelled unprecedented violence against non-Yoruba voters in Lagos State at the just-concluded governorship poll. Fani-Kayode is such a foul-mouthed imp and national disgrace.

We also want to use this medium to ask the Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi to press charges against those who leaked and doctored his telephone conversation with Bishop Oyedepo.

" The leaked conversation is an invasion of his privacy. With incidents like this, one may be forced to ask how safe are Nigerian's telephone conversations.

"We, therefore, call on telecommunication companies in the country to rise to their responsibility of protecting their customers' privacy," he said.

Oh his part Ayodele Ogedengbe said Election is not war, reports has it that about 80 people were in the just concluded 2023 elections and it shouldn't be so.
