I bought this in February 2025 with the mindset of holding it for 3 years. I believe this Japaulgold holding will be worth 1billion naira within the 3-year window. mikeapollo: I said "'it is believed that he took loan from the bank.........."' ''Perception'' is part of the factors that influence the stock market. Things could normalize soon with the release of better quarterly results, but it looks curious that UBA is reporting huge provisioning for possible insider loans at a time when the Chairman (or CEO) has just bought huge stakes in an international oil company. Whichever way, you are correct, the Afrexim loan to Elumelu is a related party transaction; UBA backed several Afrexim loans, including the one taken by FG. All these guarantees will be included in the provisions. Unfortunately, the AFS won't list the names of the debtors. Elumelu indirectly used UBA funds to buy Seplat shares. |

With all the computation you did, you didn't put time value of money or use exchange rate then & now to know the true worth of the investment. unite4real: Boss they did o.
2008 stock splits 2010 stock split and bonuses 2011 stock split 2012 stock split 2025 you know they have started too.
From 2005 they were consistent with dividend until 2014. They paid a cumulative total of around N25 during the period.
Let's do the maths.
Holding 10,000 units 20 years ago at N97.50 amounts to N975,000
Fast forward to today 10,000 X 3 = 30,000 bonus and split This units multiplied by current price of N54.20 = N1,626,000
Dividend of N25 multiplied by prorated number of units during the period should not be less than N600,000
By the time the dividend amount is added we get the picture.
By the way I do not own oando and never wished to. |

ojeysky: This is actually interesting, what if your profit is more than 10m but total proceed is less than 150m? For instance someone who bought 5m units of Ellah @3 should have made book profit of over 10m by now. If that person sells all the 5m units, decides not to pull 1naira out but rather reinvests all to buy accesshold will he/she be taxes on the over 10m gains from Ellah I think the 150m aggregate proceeds is the trigger, but 10m profit is the allowance. At the end of the year they will do your assessment and if you have made above the 10m profit, you will be taxed on the excess even if your aggregate is below 150m, but let's wait and see the implementation. |

mikeapollo: Top up makes better sense if the price is reducing and the particular stocks is becoming cheaper, so that your average cost price per unit will be less and your percentage gain will be higher. If the price is increasing, then top up would increase your average cost price per unit and your percentage gain will be lower. It depends on your investment objective and your confidence on the stock. Imagine one top-up on ELLAHLAKES when it was N5. You would have made 90% profit on increased units. |

Streetinvestor2: Oga abeg go read the new tax law or use search machines. Infact if you don't make profit of 10 million in you sales as profit you won't pay CGT as some operating in nigeria The one you are talking about here is even for foreign investors if I am not wrong . Please I am done with the tax matter We are not here to quarrel, we can disagree to agree. Please read the attached screenshot

Streetinvestor2: You that is confident of what you are saying even when you have not read it. Pls read what someone posted up that if you buy with the proceeds within the same yr.You won't be paying CGT. I no get strength to argue abeg There is something called threshold which is the 150m. If your aggregate sales in the first month is up to 150m and you make profit of 10m with the aggregate transactions. Oga, if sell 1m worth of stocks the following month and make 100k profit, you will be taxed. They are not waiting till year end. Tax authority all over the world don't wait till year end to tax an individual because they risk of default is very high. Are you going to leave your profit turning into loss because you don't want to be taxed? That is the only way to avoid CGT. |

KarlTom: There is a exception window of up to ₦150 million proceeds, with gains below ₦10 million, over any 12-month period I have not read the tax reform, I'm only saying what is applicable as an authority in the field. In every law there is always an exception which will give tax allowance. For instance any profit up to £20,000 made on investment (interest, dividend, shares appreciation) are not taxable, but any pence in excess of the 20k will be taxed. |
Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by phadriz(m): 5:23pm On Jul 08, 2025 |
Streetinvestor2: Thr is no CGT when you sell and reinvest the proceed. I have listened to explanation on the tax law and read some of it too..When I sell I buy back.It does not need to go through bank. The going through bank is when T 3 abi T2 happens .When you have not pulled the money from your investment account. It cannot be viewed as profit made. And is what is obtainable abroad..This is one of the ways to escape paying tax.You just keep reinvesting Stop saying wrong things with confidence. The moment you sell, profit or loss with be determined and you are liable to CGT. Cash withdrawal or not is account receivable and cash/bank which has nothing to do with taxation. Do you know you're liable to tax if you sell your goods on credit. The same is applicable here. |
Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by phadriz(m): 4:53pm On Jul 08, 2025 |
Streetinvestor2: Is not true and possible. How will they know if you are reinvesting. It is only when you pull money from your brokage account to your bank act that CGT can apply. No CGT when you sell and reinvest the proceed . I have decided na only dividend which they cannot collect another tax on it beside WHT will be hitting my account. The won't see shishi as CGT from me I think they will treat each stock as stand alone, they will charge CGT on any sales you make profit, at the end of the year, they will do reconciliation to net off your losses to determine your actual CGT for them to determine refund or payable. |
