As much as I detest this act of 'opportunistic price hiking', I also feel pained that our govt is using a wrong approach. It is just so disheartening that our govt keeps channeling right actions and positive energies towards the 'wrong' people and not the system they feed from. When are we gonna stop repeating the same mistake? This action doesn't and will not curb future price hiking. Assuming we have a coordinated central warehouse or store where pharmacies go to purchase or buy their drugs, it will have been the best. Such that, from the central warehouse/store/system, govt regulates price, check for fake and sub standard drugs, easy withdrawal of certain drug in circulation, etc. But we are actually in a case where nobody cares where and how u get your drugs. Instead, we care so much on how much you sell it. Forgetting that the open, porous and disorder drug distribution system made rooms for everyone and anyone to bring in their drugs to the market and sell at any price or quality they want. If you gonna kill a tree, u don't kill it by cutting down the branches only. U kill it by destroying d root. I hope after this court case, the same agency will go to govt and private hospitals that bill drugs exorbitantly. |
If it is on this.....I agree with the signing. |
nairalaila:Mr Bigiman......what do u have to say about ds? |
MrBigiman:Thanks for not disappointing me MrBigiman |
By Emma Okere A Nigerian pharmacist and CEO of Virgindrugs Global Healthcare Ltd. Pharmacist Chris Orazulike, has discovered the real Elixir of Life, a medicinal formulation that has the capacity to prevent and cure all diseases and extend human lifespan by centuries. Scientists have been searching for this formula since around 300 BC. Speaking at the 9th International Conference of the Western Africa Network of Natural Products Research Scientists which was held from May 30 to June 2, 2018 at the University of Nigeria Nsukka, Orazulike explained that his patented invention is the result of over six years’ research into the cause of all diseases. Meanwhile, while declaring the conference open, the Vice Chancellor University of Nigeria Nsukka, Prof Benjamin Chukwuma Ozumba encouraged researchers in Sub-Saharan Africa to be at the center-stage in exploring the great benefits of natural products and remedies. The LOC Chairman, Prof Peter Akah, who is a distinguished Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Science, noted that about 80% of the world still rely on natural remedies for good health. Delivering the Keynote Address, Prof A. S. Adeagbo who is the Dean, Faculty of Health Science and Technology, Federal University of Technology, Akure stressed the need for co-operation between researchers and encouraged Nigerian scientists to work towards developing patentable products. Pharm Chris Orazulike during the presentation of his research paper captioned “Global Disease Burden: New Prospects of a Panacea through Liver-dependent Immunomodulation”, said that his invention, which embodies the sought after Elixir of Life, is surprisingly made of only food and food nutrients. He stressed that by giving the body the right quantities and proportions of food nutrients and food factors, the body, through a functional liver and immune system, will prevent or cure any disease. He noted that he has employed this method in preventing malaria for years and curing several difficult or chronic diseases. Other dignitaries present at the event include Prof Godswill Onunkwo who is the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Nigeria Nsukka, Prof A.A. Attama, Prof (Mrs) E. U. Odoh, Dr C. N. S. Nworu, Dr F. B. C. Okoye, former DG of the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD) Prof K. S. Gamaliel and a host of other world class professors and scientists. |
Thegamingorca:Mr intelligent man. Well I think I have come to a conclusion that u pple r feeling threatened and kinda insecure. No one is talking about Consultant Medical Doctors and Consultant Pharmacist doing dsame thing, no wonder Lagos NMA cannot distinguish between Clinical Pharmacist and Clinical Pharmacologist. |
MrBigiman:MrBigiman, I really do appreciate ur concerns about the health of Nigerian believing that it can't be trusted in d hands of JOHESU consultants but have u ever wondered why Nigeria is no where to be found in d world as regards to healthcare delivery in the hands of the 'Trusted Medical Consultant'. This thing baffles me that countries with international best practices have all this things in place and it is working for them. Don't u think we have issues in this country. Well I believe this strike was a great enlightenment to Nigeria populace and myself inclusive. I see that consultancy cadre for pharmacist has come and has come to stay. Rx......take thou in good fate. |
MrBigiman:No 1 reason why I may doubt ur research is dt consultant pharmacist role is not to dispense monoclonal antibodies. Dispensing is not even in d picture. If u r sincere and u want to learn and not been biased, I can forward articles with valid references 2 ur mail No 2. Nigeria has a structure for consultancy program and they also undergo rigorous residency training in selected accredited centers only that d 'ministry of doctors' fails in acknowledging their presence. No 3. If u look at the circular released by Lagos state govt keenly, u will see that it was Consultant ii/assistant director i.e for those that have gone thru West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacist and residency will go thru Consultancy cadre while those that didn't go thru will assistant director, deputy director and director cadre. And besides Lagos state won't just approve such things without due consultations and deliberations. Niger state have such system in place long ago and assuming it is not working or fruitful, it will have been scrapped and discouraged. So pls Rx.......accept it in good fate. |
MrBigiman:As much as I would av loved ur opinions.....it pains me that u don't make ur research before commenting here. |
Well I may have some reasons to believe this fact. During my internship in one of the Federal health institutions in Nigeria, I had to raise the alarm with some of my colleagues dt r also pharmacist interns that is dere no prescribing feedback pattern from Pharmacy dept 2d prescribers(Medical doctors) because of the rate at which they prescribed tramadol for patients was too alarming and sometimes when I asked d patients their complaint, most of them are usually mild pain. A woman that I have always been seeing come to pharmacy to get drugs for her patient on admission suddenly came one day and begged that I should please help her prescribe a pain relief medicine dt she is tired and also having slight headache bcoz of the running arounds she has been doing for her patient. I refused and told her that this is an hospital setting that let's say it happens to be in a community pharmacy, I will know what to do, dt she should get a prescription from a medical doctor. On getting back I saw a prescription with tramadol with signature similar to d ones she has bn coming to the pharmacy with in her hands. I then wondered why tramadol of all d possible pain relief available. I had to dispense one of the NSAIDS for her after ruling out d fact dt she doesn't have ulcer and it worked perfectly for her. One of the danger in prescribing tramadol etc for patients is after they are thru with the drug, the take the sachet around looking for patent medicine stores dt will sell it for them because they enjoyed the work and the effect it gave them. |
IDEKEALUMONA:I will gladly appreciate it if u can back up ur statement with typical facts but me I know CMDs and MDs of which u also know indicted in fraud and embezzlement having case with EFCC. No profession is a saint and belonging to a profession doesn't make u least or most corrupt. IT ALL DEPENDS ON WHO YOU REALLY ARE |
MrBigiman:Nigeria not developed enuf for residency in pharmacy doesn't rule out the fact that it(Doctor of Pharmacy and consultant pharmacist) exist in countries with international best practices. West African Post Graduate College of Pharmacist, I think caters for that. |
DrObum:I hope so sir |
If that is it....No profession want to stay in Nigeria bcoz d condition over there is better- much pay, conducive working environment, less stress etc. Pharmacist are also travelling in their numbers out of the country especially Industrial Pharmacist.... those into research and development etc......y because the country is not encouraging. While some, it will only caused them to undergo conversion program from Bachelor of pharmacy to Doctor of Pharmacy (minimum requirements to practice as a pharmacist in developed countries). Even dos who study Yoruba gan wan port. Let us all learn to tolerate each other and work hand in hand for the future of ds country. Salary and Money are just ephemeral. The soul and lives impacted should b our pride and happiness God bless every Health care professionals God bless Nigeria Health Care System God bless Nigeria |
uhmmm......BRAVO to ur ignorance or to ur distorted perception about it. No wonder Nigeria health care system will never progress if ds is aw a conventional hospital shud b and shud b run. In health care NO PROFESSION IS THE LORD....it is a team work (espirit de corp). There are many cases Pharmacists have to correct doctors prescription either because of wrong combination or dose related problem.....as little a drug is, it is also a poison....besides who gives u detailed information about d drugs to prescribe, who compounds d drug needed in d hospital esp for pediatrics and lots more. if from ur own view d work of a pharmacist is just to dispense then I don't think in developed countries they will see d need to employ clinical pharmacist, consultant pharmacist or even encourage pharmacy residency program. Every profession is important.... even in developed countries u see a doctor referring a patient to a psychologist but in Nigeria they will say No o psychologist are unskilled and no nothing about patients mgt instead dy refer to a psychiatrist, not knowing dt dy r different entities and trained differently once again every profession (Nurses, Lab scientists, Medical doctor, optometrist, Pharmacist, Health records, radiologist, Hospital attendant etc) is important and non is independent or master of all SEEK, GET & APPRECIATE KNOWLEDGE. Seeing it happen that way in Nigeria doesn't make it a perfect system |
I will like the FG to b transparent in ds course and find a long lasting solution. Everybody in the health care team is important. Of possible get experts from developed countries, hear their views and resolve d whole issue. |
