It's working ..
It's your code.. You set the body to 100% of the screen and added extra 100 px to both left and right sides.... making the screen scrollable sideways...

Solution:
Be consistent, use either % or px throughout. %is more advisable tho

or just set the margin to Margin: 0 auto; That would center the contents.

ok can u pleas help me with the code to acheive that?.. i want body to be centered 200px from left and right...

though i have achieved that by using two divs the container div set to 100% then the div inside set with margin left and right to desired
px and that worked perfectly but... why the mistery behind this one here pls help me understand..

if the left margin moved quite well by the 200px why why why the hell dint the right moved. even if its going to get scrollable. atleast why dont it get scrollable and then show me the distance brom the right edge to that blue content just like the left

from your CSS you are trying to margin right the BODY... thats not what you intend doing I believe...

i want my body centered 200px from the left and 200px from the right....

dear webmasters.. pls who knows why this happens. i was working on ma site and realised this.. so i created a
simple html file with just a div in it just to be sure.. and set left and right margin to 100px
the left margin worked but the right did not...

pls does anybody body have a good explanation for this.

here is the code

for me

i spend 60% of ma 24hrs online

i do go to bed around 3-4am.. this happens almost all day

dear webmasters.. am a newbie
am having a problem with my <body> and a <div> element

in the div i formated it like this

then i put some text here in the body of the div

then css

}

the problem is; the text are crawling out of the div... thought there are supposed to break to the next line when there get to the end of the div

Good for you, everyone goes through that easily distracted stage, trust me its normal, especially when you have just your-self to motivate.. well your-self

You must however keep the big picture of what you're trying to achieve and let that continuously spur you, you can only get better by learning, learning, and working on small-medium projects. Most I.T peeps in Naija have no Choice but to be self-motivated, we do not yet exactly have a flourishing Silicon Valley in Nigeria, nor the Incentives or proper Policy to support I.T based growth. Many of us just continue in this line because its our passion, and well slowly, I think things are surely getting better as many new I.T platforms for startups e.t.c are actually Implemented by Nigerians

So choose a Niche to start In (Web, Mobile, Desktop Based Software, Industrial/Embeeded. However Web based Skiils might be easier for you to assimilate and start seeing results, with time you could go into other specializations too, Find the right resources and learn/practice like your babe not breaking up with you depends on your success at it.

There's probably much more to be said, but You get the Gist

Move your index.html file to the code folder where you have the style.css file
OR
edit your index.html file change the href to point to code/style.css

each and every night i have a routine of going to beat hell out of our dog for going to the kitchen and trying to help herself
this happens all night... my room is close to the kitchen; and each time the dog goes in it must kick down dishes making lot of noise which really disturbs me... and i will be like... "thats my call"
then i get a slippers and go beat hell outa her...

one night i was there my own tin. enjoying joke update from ofego on nairaland and listening to Adele: someone like you.
na it this dog come start him orlonga work gain.. was really making noise with plates in the kitchen...
and again that was my call... i took my strong sandal that the sole was made with tire...i go kill that idiot dog today..

immediately i stood up nepa took the light but that dint stop me nor the dog.. i proceeded in darknes to the kitchen and followed the direcction of the noise.... whoop! whim! ghoose! wham! gbim! .................

stewpid dog! animal! i said to maself.

two minute later am outta the kitchen.. and ooops!!! ma dog was lying ryt outside the kitchen. she neva was in the kitchen but i was damn sure i beat hell outta somthing.. then what the Bleep was it. i dint finish the thought and then whoooop! gbaaaaaaam! Gbim gbidim! kpam kpi kpo!...

now am in the hospital

dear nairagrammers please i need ur advice, opinion, encouragment... will be brief about this/.

am really zealouse about programming, thats where i've seen ma light, i love it, i live with it in me... but here is ma problems

am confused on where to face. is it web, software, machine, huh

i started learning html/css from w3school to a point i lost interest and stopped, am a kind of person that learns really fast but easily distracted; u know what i mean,, like going to youtube to watch how to create a nav bar but in the next 5min am watching how to talk to a giraff(lol)..
i have no teacher i only read PDFs And videos which really make me lose interest...

i have all it takes.. i work in a cyber cafe as a tech guy... i have all the time in the world.

a laptop
a modem with 50gb
steady power supply.

with all this am confused. i know i really need to start something but i dont know how.. i have signed up on coursera, alison, class central, udacity but all losing interest.. please help me.. is it that am not good for it or. what...
i live for programming... nothing can change me but what exactly is wrong. or what is it i need to do am not doing.. i like learning things that scares people away, am good at maths,

already have ma NCE in maths/computer

it depends on the area you want specialise on.... if ur taking the web route; i say u take html/css first.(ALISON; cousera; w3s; can all help ya with that). then if ur taking the software route i say u go for python first.

Please understand one thing here. Wordpress offers hosting service. If you register your site on , it will first have a domain name like yourname.. However if you want your site hosted on , you will have minimal control of your site, you will not be able to install plug ins, though you can install themes. This is good if you are very good at coding. However I would advise you to host your site with 1and1 or hostgator, then you can install the Wordpress Script on your site, which is Wordpress.org. With the Wordpress script, you can easily control your site with little or no knowledge on coding.
Finnal word, offers free and paid hosting with limited control. Wordpress.org offers WP script, which you can instal after purchasing a domain name and hosting space from a third party.
