Politics / 2023: Over 2000 PDP, SDP Defect To APC In Oyo by Philipponzaghi: 2:30am On Sep 25, 2022
No fewer than 2,315 members of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Oyo State have defected to the main opposition party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The governorship candidate of APC in the state, Senator Teslim Folarin and Oyo Central Senatorial candidate, Dr Yunus Akintunde received the new members into the progressive party during a local meeting of the party held at Elekuro High School, Ogbere in Ona-Ara LGA.

In the company of Senator Folarin were Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, Chairman, National Lottery Regulatory Commission; Alhaji Kehinde Olaosebikan, Hon. Hammed Bodunrin Digbi, Hon. Remi Sodiq, Hon. Waheed Ajibade, Hon. Mojeed Delesolu and among others.

Alhaji Ibikunle while welcoming the defectors on behalf of Folarin, assured them of fairness and equity in their new party.

“I welcome you to our great party, APC as new members, and assure you of all rights accrued to the rest of our members.

“We will ensure that you benefit from every opportunity regarding the welfare of members without sentiments”.

Ibikunle charged the new members to aggressively mobilise for 2023 electoral victories of all APC candidates.

Mogaji Victor Akinyemi Akinjide led defected PDP members while Elder A Kalejaye led defected SDP members. Other leaders included Pa Akintayo, Hon. Kolawole Waliyu (Ikoko) and Alhaji Amidu Olapade.

Mogaji Akinjide, who spoke on behalf of the defectors said they were pleased with the way they were received by Senator Folarin.

Elder Kalejaye, in his remarks, stated that the performance of Senator Folarin and his emergence as the governorship candidate of APC informed their defection, saying the victory of APC in 2023 would not only benefit Ona-Ara LGA but the entire state.

Senator Folarin commended the defectors, saying they had made the right decision by joining APC. He promised to carry them along in all party affairs and ensure that they benefit from all available opportunities.

He urged them to go to their respective wards and attend party meetings regularly for updates and other things concerning the party.

Politics / Two PDP Chairmen Defect To APC In Kogi State by Philipponzaghi: 1:51am On Sep 13, 2022
Two Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ward chairmen in Kogi Local Government Area, Unit leaders and a former Special Adviser have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

The two Chairmen who defected are Muhammed Ozahi and Abdulkarim Shaibu Saikayi.

They duo were the former Ward Chairmen of Girinya and KKSE, respectively.

They defected alongside thousands of their members.

Equally, Hon Ibrahim Usman Egye, also a former strong pillar of the opposition party joined the APC with his supporters from different ethnic groups.

Others who equally defected were the Next level Vanguard group Chairman, Comrade Abdullahi Omare Muhammed who led some of its members to the APC, explaining that they have given out their best to the PDP but they have not been rewarded.

According to the defectors, they have seen that the rewarding system in APC is real, noting that they have not benefited much when they were with the PDP.

“The APC is a party that is fulfilling the promises it made to the people. We can no longer wait but to join the moving train,” they added.

In his remarks at the ceremony, Hon. Bashir Gegu, Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, commended the defectors for their courage, tasking them to be loyal to the system, committed and show capacity by working assiduously for the APC.

He said; 'any igbo man....' why generalize it? Anyone is still free to vote anyone. Anyway, am sure this will be sent to the front page of nairaland to serve as the tool of division which the platform is already known for.
While we do not encourage this kind of divisive politics, Nigerians know it is an apc tool and thus shouldn't be brought to LP or Peter Obi's candidacy. Let's leave that to them.

Imams and Islamic clerics have been doing this for decades but the church should not join them in it. We should play our politics with love, inclusion and unity. That's the new Nigeria we are seeking to build under LP

All this lamentation to justify the tribalism?

You guys always clever by half.

Crime / Nigeria Man Jailed In Scotland For Swallowing 1kg Of Cocaine (Picture) by Philipponzaghi: 12:09am On Sep 06, 2022
Top crimebusters have warned mules bringing drugs into the country they will be pounced on.

Commander Ian Thomas and detective Gordon Constable said their officers will disrupt organised gangs using airline passengers to smuggle. They spoke out after their joint operation led to the conviction of Nigerian Emeka Ugwu, 44, jailed last month after admitting bringing cocaine worth £28,000 into Scotland.

Thomas said: “This arrest and subsequent prison sentence sends a clear message to all involved in any aspect of organised crime that there are significant consequences to face.”

He is Scottish Branch Commander of the UK-wide National Crime Agency, while DI Constable works for the Organised Crime Partnership (Scotland).

DI Constable added: “Emeka Ugwu’s conviction sends out a strong message to those involved in bringing drugs into the country that we are constantly working to identify those involved and intercept them.

“I would urge anyone with concerns about drugs dealing not to stay quiet. We act on every piece of information.”

Ugwu, who had been living in Canada, was caught with the drugs at Glasgow Airport and was caged for 28 months. Paisley Sheriff Court heard the dad had gone from Canada to France, then to Guayana.

He returned to Paris and then headed for Scotland, after swallowing 1.2kg of the class A drug, split into 80 packs.

Even Buhari with his political worth before the 2015 election was not this tribalistic with his election campaign. At least, they were lying on his behalf to get votes from other quarters. The idiots promoting Tinubu are not even hiding their tribalism and religious bigotry before the election! How do they expect other Nigerians to vote for him?

Igbo we are openly tribalistic, what will your Ojuku ancestors do about it?

I am Yoruba and I am proudly Tribalistic.

I will be voting Tinubu because he is Yoruba. If you don’t like it, go and DIE in the lagoon.

Hypocrite. Almost 99% of Igbo are supporting Peter Obi, same 90% that voted Atiku in 2019 and now Atiku is suddenly a devil all because Peter Obj am Igbo is on the ballot. Hypocrites Ibo that are hardcore tribalists calling other people tribalist.

If you are not tribalistic, why not support Sowore, Kola Abiola,? Are they not youth? Is Peter Obi a 60+ year man a youth.

I only see Yoruba Muslims supporting Tinubu. We Obi-Datti supporters don't
even expect 15% of the Yoruba Muslims votes. They have never supported credible candidates in their lives except few of them. The Yoruba Christians - many of them like voting credible candidates and they will still vote the best candidate in 2023

This is the delusion we want Obi zombies to keep having.

If you check the screenshot and understand Yoruba Christian & Muslims names, you’ll see why your mumu never do.
