Three teenage boys have confessed to security operatives how they left Owerri in Imo State to break into a phone shop in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

The suspects, Onyeneho Chukwuemeka (17 years), Ibeh Dominion (18 years) and Adaya Stephen (18 years) were arrested by the Ogun State Amotekun Corps for “attempt to commit felony to wit shop breaking.”

The Ogun State Amotekun Commander, David Akinremi, told DAILY POST that the trio were nabbed at about 11:30pm on August 8 at Folagbade street, Ijebu Ode “while breaking into a phone shop.”

During interrogation, two of the suspects, Chukwuemeka and Dominion, according to Akinremi, “claimed that they left Owerri, Imo State for Lagos on 25th July, 2022 in search of what to do to sustain their lives.”

When they arrived at Ojodu Berger, the three boys had for three days slept in a guest house at Lambe street.

“They later left for Ijebu-Ode on 1st August 2022. At Ijebu Ode, broke into a phone shop through the ceiling but unfortunately, there was no phone in the shop.”

While searching for another phone shop to break into, they stated that they met Adaya Stephen, a native of Warri in Delta state.

Adaya was said to have hidden them inside an uncompleted building until late at night when they went out to break into another shop.

[b]“They were caught by our Operatives while breaking into another phone shop along Folagbade Street, Ijebu-Ode,” the Commander explained.

The [/b]former Commissioner of Police informed that the suspects have been handed over to the police at the Stat Headquarters, Eleweran Abeokuta for further investigation and prosecution.

A Nigerian involved in drug peddling has been arrested by the Operations Cell of the Chandigarh police while possessing 172 grams of heroin.

The accused, identified as Chukwudi Samson (34), was arrested from near the Sector 17 bus stand by a team led by Inspector Amanjot Singh, in-charge of the Operations Cell.

The police said the accused came to the city to deliver consignment to some drug peddler.

A case under the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused at the Sector 17 police station.

Last week, a Nigerian, Benjamin (25), was arrested by the Operations Cell while possessing 274 grams of heroin.

A suspected Nigerian drug trafficker,as Osigwe Chukwuemeka James, 37 has been arrested by sleuths of the Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) along with Narayanguda police in India.

Osigwe was arrested for possession of 30 grams of MDMA at Niyaz Khana near King Koti Hospital under Narayanguda on Friday, August 12.

Police also seized four cell phones, Rs 4,000 cash, two one-dollar notes of Cayman Islands currency and a Qatari riyal note from him.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Zone, M. Rajesh Chandra told reporters that the accused was residing illegally in Hyderabad.

Police found that he was frequently visiting Goa, procuring the narcotic drug MDMA, and selling the same to needy consumers in Hyderabad to earn easy money.

The accused has been visiting India since 2013, police said.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad-Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW), Sneha Mehra said the police so far identified 108 consumers, who were purchasing drugs from the accused. Investigations were on to identify other consumers.

The police investigation revealed that during this visit to India, the accused arrived on November 9, 2021, at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad, using a fake passport with the name Alamanjo Nmasichukwu. The visa expired on April 6, 2022.

During earlier visits to India, the accused used his original passport with the name Osigwe Chukwuemeka James. In order to avoid police cases and whenever police catch him, he produces a fake passport.

During March 2022 he was arrested by Goa police under NDPS Act. He identified himself as Alamanjo Nmasichukwu by showing his fake passport.

Police also said he had created a WhatsApp group for customers.

“We found that the customers are mostly private employees, including engineers and students. Of the 108 clients, we have gathered details of 63,” the DCP said.

Chandigarh police in India have arrested a Nigerian man identified simply as Benjamin, after he was caught with 274 grams of heroin on Thursday, 11 August.

The Hindustan Times reported that the 25-year-old Benjamin was arrested at a check post in Industrial Area, Phase-2, Chandigarh on Thursday by the Operations Cell under the supervision of DSP Jasbir Singh.

Police said the team was on patrolling duty when they spotted the suspect.

He was then charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the sector-31 police station and presented before a court on Friday, August 12.

Mr Benjamin will remain in police custody till August 16, and security officials will question him regarding the source and destination of the drugs and others involved.

The police said Benjamin resided in Tilak Nagar, Delhi and had come to India on a business visa in December 2020.

Mr Benjamin’s arrest came weeks after two Nigerians were arrested over drug possession.

In July 2022, the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Pune Police arrested two Nigerians identified as Ogochukwu Emmanuel and Enebeli Omamma Vivian over possession of 644 grams of mephedrone and 201 grams of cocaine.

The Indian police have arrested and detained two Nigerians over their alleged involvement in supplying large amounts of marijuana and methamphetamine in the Delhi National Capital Region (NCR).

According to a report published by the India Today newspaper on Thursday, the duo identified as Herry, alias Ifeanyi, 26, and, Obiora, 50, were arrested by the Delhi Police Crime Branch at Vasant Kunj.

The suspects were accused of delivering about ”355 grams of methaqualone and 5 kg of ganja” to an unknown dealer, the report says.

The Assistant Commissioner of Police, Raj Kumar, according to the report, had received confidential information that the two accused Nigerian drug suppliers would supply cocaine to an unknown person between 10 and 11 p.m.

The police boss said the seized drugs found on the accused are worth millions in the international market.

The police also disclosed that they discovered that the two Nigerians entered India from Nigeria on three-month visas and continued residing in the country illegally after their visas expired.

”Officials stopped both the accused when they arrived to make the sale. When stopped by the team, the foreigners panicked and escaped into the lanes. Thereafter, both of them were apprehended.

”Upon checking them, a white narcotic substance was found inside a polythene bag. When tested with the field kit, the substance was found to be methaqualone. A total of 355 grams of methaqualone and 5 kg of ganja were recovered from them.

”It was found that both the accused came to India from Nigeria on a three-month visa. After the visa expired, they continued to live illegally in the country.

According to the report, the duo have been arraigned before the Tis Hazari court on Thursday and have also been remanded to five days in police custody for further investigation.

Noida, Aug 4 (PTI) A Nigerian national was arrested in Greater Noida on Thursday on charges of phone theft, police said.

The accused had stolen two mobile phones from the house of another person living in the same housing society as him, they said.

“Iweka Precious Ehiedy is a Nigerian national who was staying at the Alstonia Apartments in Surajpur, Greater Noida. An FIR was lodged against him over the theft of two mobile phones from a resident of the same society,” a police spokesperson said.

On the basis of the FIR, the accused was arrested after the stolen mobile phones were recovered from his possession, the official said.

Further legal proceedings in the case were being carried out, the police added.
