bamcur: Like seriously?
There is nothing like Job security, you could die and your job will be given to someone else.
I will rather take a contract Job of 1m monthly pay that can be terminated anytime than a regular job of 100k
that's wisdom right there... |

post=115349207: Why do employees stay? The brief answer is “inertia.” Employees tend to remain with a company until some force causes them to leave. The concept here is very like the concept of inertia in the physical sciences: a body will remain as it is until acted on by a force. You gerrit?
You just said it all...

femi4: So if I start as a cleaner and now the head of Admin after 10yrs, does that means I m not growing?
The ultimate factor is job security. I would rather continue to earn 100k yearly than go elsewhere and earn 1M in a year and get sacked You shouldn't think that way. If you are that good with the job why would you be scared? Just saying though.. |

Not in all cases. If you're growing in terms of salary or personal and professional development, why would you want to leave? Plus as one grows older one begins to feel less need to move around. I personally don't like staying in one job or city for more than 3yrs, but there are many things that can make a person decide to settle down at one company. I was having this same conversation with a friend and he said married was one of the reasons why he is still stuck with his company for over 12 years and counting... Can't really say though... 1 Like |

Skyfornia: Poverty: I have experienced being broke and promised myself I'm not going down that road again.
Joblessness; I was jobless for 5 years and believe me, it wasn't a nice experience. The fear of quitting my business and going back to job hunting was scary.
Then finally, I told myself, this is my first offspring and I will never ever let it die. I could sell spare parts to her husband if you don't mind though...
This life err, never look down on anyone....
The bonus was when a lady and her husband walked into my shop the very few months I started my business, due to small issue I had with her husband, she abused me saying my mates are managers in companies and I'm busy doing petty business, she swore my business will not last more than 6 months. I was scared the first year cause I truly had lots of challenges and was at the verge of quitting, but each time I remembered what the woman said, I doubled my efforts it's 5 years now and waxing strong. The woman is now jobless and her husband looking for a car to do Uber/taxify. |
