Politics › "Buhari Is An Old Plane Parked For Too Long" – Ahmadu Ali by PhockPhockMan(op): 3:41am On Dec 17, 2014 |
ABUJA—VICE President Namadi Sambo; Senate President David Mark; National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Adamu Mua’zu; Chairman, Board of Trustees, BoT, of PDP, Chief Tony Anenih, governors elected on the platform of the party were among prominent Nigerians who, yesterday, were absent at the public presentation and launch of a book on the achievements of President Goodluck Jonathan. Jonathan Also absent at the event which took place at the well decorated Ladi Kwali Hall, Sheraton Hotels, Abuja, with fireworks to usher in the 112-page book entitled “Profile of achievements” put together by PDP Youth Network, were the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, Senator Bala Mohammed; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim; members of PDP National Working Committee, NWC; the chief launcher, Chief Prince Arthur Eze, among others. Jonathan, who was expected at the launch of the book which chronicled his achievements, was absent without sending any representative just as ministers, senators, House of Representatives members as well as other prominent Nigerians were absent and did not send representatives. Chairman, PDP Governors’ Forum and Akwa Ibom State governor, Godswill Akpabio, was absent and was also not represented. Governor Murktar Ramallan Yero of Kaduna and Ibrahim Shema of Katsina, however, sent representatives. Buhari, an old plane parked for too long — Ahmadu Ali In his speech at the event, former PDP National Chairman, Dr. Ahmadu Ali who took a swipe at the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, General Muhammadu Buhari, however, likened him to an old plane that has been parked for too long, whose functionality cannot be guaranteed, just as he boasted that Nigerians will,by 2019 celebrate the successes of President Jonathan when he must have completed his tenure. Represented by Akeem Atojoko, Ali who is the Director-General, PDP 58- member National Campaign Council, NCC however likened President Jonathan to a plane that has been working for ten years, which in aviation rules, would be better and well guaranteed than a new one that has just been purchased. According to him, critics of President Jonathan take advantage of his taciturn nature to always insult him but if he were a garrulous person and he attacks them regularly, they would have for long stopped the insults. He said: “The book is a must read, if our President was lousy, there will be no avenue for the opposition to trade words and blames at him. He is easy going and quiet and he is digital. “We will be here in 2019 to celebrate the successes of President Jonathan when he must have completed his work. With the course I did on Aviation, we were told that a 10-year plane which has been working is far better than a brand new one you buy today. Buhari is an old plane that has been parked for long, we have a plane that has been flying; if you have a plane that has been flying for 10 years, it is better and trusted than a new one.“ Reviewing the book, former Minister of Information, Professor Jerry Gana, who hailed the PDP Youth Network for coming up with such a research material on the achievements of the president, however urged the Federal Government to, in 2015, review its strategies on how to fight the Boko Haram sect, adding that there was the need for all hands to be on the deck to nip in the bud, the security challenge in some parts of the country. Represented by Prof. Sam Andii, Gana who noted that the youths must be supported and encouraged to get there, stressed the need for the government to put in place measures of regulating and monitoring of its policies to ensure that the aim and objectives of putting them in place were realised. On the book, he advised the organisers to ensure that they balance the write up not only highlighting the achievements, but the challenges for adjustment, even as he said what the President had done would be a template for what he would do come 2015. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/12/big-names-shun-book-launch-jonathans-achievements/ |

OrlandoOwoh: When does having an in-law mean one's child is married from a particular area. For your information, Buhari could be spending the Xmas with his brother-in-law, sister-in-law, etc. I have in-laws from across the country yet I don't have a child that is married. Change of tongue is allowed. |

Re-packaging nor dey easy oh, I swear! This marvels me more than anyone else, if you ask them any link to the trash they called truth about Buhari, instead of doing that, they resort to insults and name-callings, because they have no prove. PIG REMAINS A PIG NO MATTER HOW YOU BATH IT. |

LogicPower: I will not stoop as low as your level by responding to your rude remark at the beginning of the post, because it is NEVER in my character to do so.
But let me respond to you as follows: 1. Who are the 'Christians' with whom Buhari was angry?
2. Where did I write that YOU said they committed an offence?
3. How does what YOU say or did not say determine whether they actually committed an offence or not?
4. If there was a diplomatic restriction against official travel to Israel by the Nigerian government of that time; and the 3 traditional rulers were found guilty of violating that restriction (it is immaterial whether the restriction was a good idea or not); and the government meted out the same punishment on Bayero as the remaining two, doesn't that DEBUNK the malicious and evil lies the supporters of the clueless enjoy spreading that the Buhari regime punished ONLY southerners who broke the law? Prove that there was traveling embargo between the two countries. I'm waiting. |

tola9ja: In 8 years George W Bush made 6 unannounced visits to war zones in Iraq and Afghanistan. In 5 years, Barack Obama has made 5 unannounced visits to war zones in Iraq and Afghanistan and still counting. These are external war zones. My questions now are, why do we have a CinC who likes to wear military uniforms but can't visit troops at the war front for on the spot assessment and how many times has Nigeria's Goodluck Jonathan visited internal war zones in the Northeast? You see why we desperately need a leader with counter insurgency experience and bravery to assume leadership. Wont you prefer a leader who is ready to die for the peaceful co-existence of Nigeria? If you do, will you please vote for APC candidate (GMB) for a change? B - Bring U - Us H - Hope A - And R - Restore I - Integrity. Please face topic. |

courage54: Am from Niger-Delta and a christian but am voting for Buhari along side with my entire Family.
What can I say I have gained from this present government for the past six years?
1.I still queue up to buy fuel at filling station even at a higher price 2. I even paid my hard earn money to get a government job but instead of getting the job I ended up thanking God that I wasn't among those that lost their lives in the process 3. Even as am typing this now am using a generator to charge my phone in order not to miss my darling nairaland for too long 4. My immediate younger sister is at home now because her school is on strike (that is UNITY schools) 5. What about my friends that are still unemployed after many years of service. 6. A neighbour of mine just lost her new born baby because of health workers strike. 7. Our sisters are still in captivity in the north and nobody is doing anything about it, so I don't think I will like to continue like this for the next four years so I demand a change and only BUHARI can bring that change. 8. The only achievement I can record for this administration is the boom in corruption where barely everyone that is close to the govt is now a private jet owner.
Enough of This Jonathan govt of "Lootocracy: Govt of Looters where stealing is not corruption".
Is only a fool that will continue to do things the same way and expect a different result, So Let's Make The Right Choice.
