https://www.change.org/p/petition-to-the-federal-govt-of-nigeria-establish-consulates-in-texas-and-california Petition to the Federal Government of Nigeria: Establish Nigerian Consulates in Texas and California To: The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria The Minister of Foreign Affairs The Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) The Nigerian Embassy in Washington, D.C. We, the undersigned, respectfully call on the Federal Government of Nigeria to establish a Nigerian Consulate in Texas, and a Nigerian Consulate in California. Nigeria has one of the largest and most vibrant diaspora communities in the United States. Thousands of Nigerians and Nigerian-Americans live, work, study, invest, and raise families across Texas and California. Yet many must travel long distances, spend significant money, and endure major inconvenience to obtain basic consular services such as passport renewal, visa processing, document authentication, power of attorney, emergency travel certificates, birth registration, and other official services. This situation places an unnecessary burden on law-abiding citizens and residents who deserve timely and accessible government support. Why this matters: 1. Texas and California have large Nigerian populations. Both states are home to thriving Nigerian communities, major business centers, universities, and international airports. These communities contribute significantly to the economies of both the United States and Nigeria. 2. Access to consular services should not require extreme travel. Many Nigerians in the southern and western United States must travel across states, miss work, pay for flights and hotels, and face long wait times simply to complete routine consular tasks. 3. Faster services would benefit families, students, professionals, and businesses. A consulate in Houston or Dallas would better serve Nigerians in Texas and neighboring states. A consulate in Los Angeles or San Francisco would better serve Nigerians in California and the broader western United States. 4. Stronger consular presence strengthens Nigeria’s global image. Expanding Nigeria’s diplomatic and consular reach would demonstrate commitment to the welfare of Nigerians abroad and deepen cultural, educational, and economic ties. 5. Nigerians abroad deserve dignity and responsiveness. Our diaspora sends remittances, invests in communities, supports relatives, and promotes Nigeria’s interests globally. They should have access to efficient, modern, and geographically accessible consular services. We therefore urge the Nigerian government to: Establish a Nigerian Consulate in Texas Establish a Nigerian Consulate in California Allocate the necessary staffing, funding, and infrastructure to ensure these offices operate efficiently. Engage Nigerian community organizations in both states during the planning process. This is not only a matter of convenience. It is a matter of fairness, service, national pride, and respect for Nigerians in the diaspora. We call on all Nigerians, Nigerian-Americans, friends of Nigeria, community leaders, students, professionals, faith leaders, and business owners to sign this petition and support improved access to Nigerian consular services in the United States. Support Nigerians in the diaspora. Sign and share this petition to call on the Nigerian government to open consulates in Houston and Los Angeles. Sign this petition today and help bring Nigerian consular services closer to the people who need them. |
Kemi Badenoch delivered a blistering speech this week in which she took aim at her former frontbenchers who have defected to Reform UK – and, my goodness, it was absolutely marvellous. “To those who are defecting, who don’t actually disagree with our policies, I will say: I’m sorry you didn’t win the leadership contest. I’m sorry you didn’t get a job in the shadow cabinet. I’m sorry you didn’t get into the Lords. But you are not offering a plan to fix this country. This is a tantrum dressed up as politics.” Declaring from a conference podium that those jumping ship are only doing so out of spite and for personal gain is, as the kids would say, a sick burn. I would add that by doing so, the Tory leader has never looked and sounded more Nigerian – and I think I love her for that. Badenoch, who was born in Wimbledon and raised in Lagos, said last year that she no longer identifies as Nigerian and has not renewed her passport in decades. I am sorry to inform her that you can take the girl out of Nigeria, but you can’t take Nigeria out of the girl. When she talked about how, “when my kids have a tantrum, I don’t give up or change my mind – I send them to their room”, that was straight out of the Nigerian parenting book. When she said she “only wants Conservatives” in her party, and suggested those who don’t agree with her should “get out of the way”, she was really saying: “As long as you’re under my roof, you abide by my rules.” That’s Black Parenting 101 right there. And she went even further and actually invited those who object to “go and join the Liberal Democrats”. Kemi read her former shadow justice secretary Robert Jenrick for filth and I laughed out loud. Actually, I felt sorry for that poor, sheltered fool. He clearly had no idea who he had been playing with. Kemi is from the Yoruba tribe. Historically, they have been recognised for their fierce and protective nature, combining strength with outspokenness. I will now share with you some valuable information that may one day save your life: Yoruba women are the ones you need to back you up in any dispute in which you may find yourself. If you haven’t got one in your friendship circle, go out and recruit one immediately. ‘By channelling her inner Nigerian, Kemi has signalled she wants to win’ ‘By channelling her inner Nigerian, Kemi has signalled she wants to win’ (PA) These women are better than any private detective. If there is information to be found, they’ll find it. In planning his defection, Jenrick was behaving like a cheating husband about to publicly parade a new, much younger mistress in front of his wife of 20 years. But Kemi caught him at it – the speech announcing his departure was found on an office printer – and said: “Not today, Satan!” Yoruba men are commonly known as “Yoruba demons” – as I know to my own cost, having dated a couple. These are the only men that you could find cheating on you in your own bed, and you’ll apologise to them for interrupting. And who brings Yoruba men into this world? Yoruba women. By channelling her inner Nigerian, Kemi has signalled she wants to win. She will not put her arms up and surrender. There will be no white flag above Tory party HQ. She will go down with this ship. If someone told me that every single Conservative member had left and she was now leading a party of one, I’d believe it. Let’s not get carried away – I still don’t like Kemi’s politics. However, I can’t pretend I’m not starting to warm to her. She needs to be a guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, for she is Mother. https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/kemi-badenoch-nigerian-defection-tory-reform-jenrick-b2910172.html?fbclid=IwY2xjawPwbUNleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFlaXJydkhHbEtQNUlieGI0c3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHt67ViVC6XBScuZP8VbFxdO5g5lSJN-jhyve-pQ2PF__ZYEcWP51JYyaPVkL_aem_lJ_sZ8kJZ07StLTIdvv2Xw |
Niger Delta, through oil and gas, provides revenues for the Nigerian Government and the Nigerian people. The Fulani bandits and the Northern part of Nigeria in general are economic parasites to the Southern part of Nigeria. |
Everything that happened that day was in my house, in my absence. Nobody was beaten, and nobody could have contemplated that. It is blatantly false to say that I sent thugs to beat Regina in another house. The video that went viral was filmed entirely in front of my house by Regina’s sister and her friend. It was a pure Nollywood scenario, in front of my property, in my absence. |
I applaud Dangote for building a working refinery in Nigeria. However, Dangote made a big mistake by building a 650,000 to 700,000 bpd refinery. Dangote should have built a maximum 300,000 bpd refinery. Dangote should have known many influential people in Nigeria would resist his refinery having monopoly power in downstream oil sector in Nigeria. Oil trade is a global trade. Many influential Nigerians and foreigners make lots of money (legal and illegal money) from oil trade in Nigeria. Dangote should have anticipated that achieving monopoly of downstream petroleum sector by his company in Nigeria would be extremely difficult. There are lots of corrupt people in the oil industry, especially in a country like Nigeria. |
To be frank, Arabs took over many lands in Africa that did not originally belong to them. Israel has little land mass. The Arabs-Muslims causing trouble in Israel should leave Israel. The Arabs world has more than enough land to accommodate Palestinians-Muslims. Many Muslims believe Jerusalem is their "third" holiest city after Mecca and Medina. Many Jews believe Jerusalem is their holiest city. Many Christians believe Jerusalem is their holiest city. Why should some Muslims be dragging Jerusalem as belonging to them? Jerusalem is relegated to 'third' holiest city in Islam. Why don't the Muslims leave Jerusalem for Christians and Jews? Muslims have their Mecca and Medina. Bethlehem, a city where Jesus Christ was born has been taken over by Arab Muslims. Many Arabs Muslims persecuted and still persecute their fellow Arabs who were/are Christians and Jews. There are 3 main Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity and Islam). Islam came very late. It is greediness on the part of some Muslim Arabs to say Israelis are settlers. The original Jews in Israel were driven out by the Muslim Arabs. Check the map of Israel and other Arab countries. Israel has very small land mass compared to Arab countries. The Arabs in North African countries were not the original inhabitants of the North African countries.

HEAVEN4444:Many poor parents usually kill the children with retardation secretly or neglect those children till those types of children die. Rich parents tend to take care of those types of children. That is one of the reasons it seems rich parents tend to have more kids with retardation. |
ednut1:You are very correct. From my observations, many poor parents usually kill the children with retardation secretly or neglect those children till those type of children die. |
Sons with mild retardation born to poor parents are usually not taken care of when those kids are young. Children with retardation born to poor parents usually die young. Rich parents tend to take care of their children irrespective of the cognitive levels of the children. Many poor parents see their children as investment items, or lottery items or gambling items. Therefore, many poor parents do not take care of children with cognitive defects. Those type of children from poor parents tend to die young. That is the reason, it seems many rich parents have children with mild retardation. |
LOL . FFK actually studied theology at a seminary school in Ghana sometimes in the 1990s. |
Maryam Babangida was the most famous first Lady. It was rumored that Mrs Folorosunso Alakija got oil block because of her. It was also rumored that IBB gave an oil block to her doctor (physician). There was a project by her -Better Life for Rural Women- which was very popular during IBB regime. It was rumored that Asaba was made the capital of Delta State because of her. Maryam Babangida was the most famous and most flamboyant among the wives of former Nigeria past leaders. I think, Nigerians started using First Lady during IBB regime. |
The lady was lying. She did the video to get views. |
What is the name of the ex-wife? |
In 1993, Obasanjo granted an interview concerning June 12, 1993 election. Obasanjo mentioned that Abiola was not the Messiah Nigeria needed. Or something like 'Abiola is not the messiah Nigeria needs' |

DeLaRue:Then, Dangote should stop running to the government or CBN for assistance. The more functional refineries in Nigeria, the better. I believe Nigeria government refurbishing its refineries is waste of time and waste of money. The refurbishment are opportunities to embezzle money. |
Nigeria refineries in Warri, Port Harcourt and Kaduna were supplying Nigeria refined petroleum needs until the fallout of June 12, 1993 crisis.. Nigeria has never depended on just one refinery. The issue is that around the June 12, 1993 crisis some Nigerians discovered they could make lots of money by importing refined petroleum products. Since the June 12, 1993 crisis, Nigeria refineries have not been working optimally due to the corruption practices in that sector. Now, refined petroleum products are being imported into Nigeria. However, the refined petroleum products are not just from one refinery. |
In my own view, Dangote should have embarked on about 100,000 to about 300,000 bpd refinery. The total consumption by Nigeria of petroleum products is about 500,000 bpd. Dangote refinery is about 650,000 bpd Petroleum Refinery. Dangote mentioned in the past that when his refinery is ready, the refinery would be able to supply all Nigeria needs and he can also export o other African countries. In my own view, this a very bad idea. It is not a good for a country such as Nigeria with over 200 million people to depend solely on one refinery. What if the refinery is damaged? What of the case when the refinery is shut down for maintenance? Of all the countries, with more than 200 million people, there is no such country that depends on just 1 refinery. If Dangote has embarked on a smaller capacity refinery, such smaller capacity would have been producing refined petroleum products by now |

Dangote really bite more than he could chew. He is also a very greedy person. It does not makes sense to embark on a 650,00 bpd with companies that have no track record of constructing a 650,000 bpd refinery. Dangote simply wants to monopolize the downstream sector of the petroleum industry. It would have been better for him to embark on a refinery with about 100,000 bpd for a start. A refinery of about 100,000 bpd would have been working long time ago. |

Childofgrace18:I am not only in the USA. I am also a United States Citizen. I do not need a VISA to visit many countries. Your comment shows that you have never lived in a developed country for an extended period of time. I have lived about 70% of my adult life (about 20 years) in developed countries. There are many of my friends who live in Nigeria and only come to visit USA and other countries. Many of my friends that live in Nigeria are financially better than me. There are homeless and poor people in USA and UK. I am not financially poor in any way. With the exchange rate of US Dollar to Naira, I am a billionaire in Naira. You need less than US$1 Million Dollar to become a billionaire in Naira. There are many Nigerians outside the country who are billionaires in Naira. Some of these Nigerians see themselves as Middle Class in the countries they live. Some houses in Nigeria cost more than 1 billion Naira. I see no reason to brag on social media. In my visit to the UK about 20 year ago, I was a given a student VISA of 12 months or, 15 months or 18 months for an M.Sc program. I cannot remember the exact duration. That was why I was surprised to see 3 months on my sibling VISA/COS. I have searched on the internet and I could see UK D Skilled VISA Migrant with duration of 3 months. I have visited different countries. I was never given a VISA less than 6 months even on a tourist or business visa. That was the reason I was surprised about the 3 months COS/VISA on my brother passport. The links below show that people also struggle financially in the United States. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2024/03/i-became-a-cab-driver-to-feed-my-family-in-us-actor-femi-brainard/ https://www.vanguardngr.com/2023/08/failed-movie-gigs-turned-me-to-cab-driver-in-u-s-nollywood-actor-joseph-benjamin/ |
The VISA shows D SKILLED WORKER MIGRANT. Is one-way ticket OK? |
I saw SKILLED worker MIGRANT in the VISA he sent to me. The VISA seems genuine. He applied by himself at the UK embassy. He did not use any Agency because of fear of 419 or scam . Migrant means he has permanent stay. That is my understanding. I am currently in the USA. My understanding is that he needs to use the COS within 3 months. |
Hello Good Nairalanders, I am planning to buy a ticket for one of my siblings to start a healthcare job in the UK. I am currently not in Nigeria. A copy of the VISA he showed me showed a COS with duration of 3 months on the VISA. Can I buy a one-way ticket for my sibling or should it be a return ticket? Thanks. |
