PoliticsPower Tussle Caused Nnaji's Removal - GEJ by pingpong1(op): 9:28pm On Sep 05, 2012
The President reconstitutes
membership of two presidential
committees on Power
Former Minister of Power, Bart Nnaji,
lost his job due to a power tussle he
had with the Special Adviser to
President Goodluck Jonathan on Power,
Reynolds Dagogo-Jack.
This was alluded to by the person who
appointed both men, Mr. Jonathan.
The President gave this hint on
Wednesday during the inauguration of
a reconstituted Presidential Task Force
(PTF) on power.
Until his ouster, Mr. Nnaji was the PTF
Chairman by virtue of his position as
Minister, while Mr. Dagogo-Jack,
doubled as Secretary of the task force
and Special Adviser to the Minister of
Power.
“We have done it (re-constitute the task
force) this way, because the other time
when Nnaji was the Chairman, the
Secretary (Dagogo-Jack) was my own
Special Adviser and he was also his
Special Adviser, and there was a lot of
conflicts between the two of them,
because they said two captains cannot
drive the same ship.” the President said
“This time around, we want one captain
and they (members of the task force)
will work with him,” the president
added.
The President said he would personally
preside over the Presidential Action
Committee (PAC) on Power as
Chairman, with the Vice President,
Namadi Sambo, as Deputy Chairman,
while Mr. Dagogo-Jack would be given
the chance to realise his long-fought
wish to become the Chairman of the
Presidential Task force (PTF) in the new
dispensation.

TravelFG Lifts Suspension On Dana Air by pingpong1(op): 6:55pm On Sep 05, 2012
The Federal Government on Wednesday lifted the suspension of the Operating Licence of Dana Airlines.

This follows government’s satisfaction with the air-worthiness of the airline after a rigorous technical, operational and financial audit of the airline, according to a statement by Joe Obi, Special Assistant (Media) to Minister of Aviation, Ms. Stella Oduah.

“By this development, Dana Airline is free to resume its normal commercial flight operations. Government will, however, continue to strengthen its oversight and regulatory functions to ensure that all airlines operating in the country, including Dana, adhere strictly to safety procedures as required by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Act and all other relevant local and international regulations that ensure and promote sustainable air safety.

”The operating licence of Dana Airlines was temporarily suspended following the crash of one of its aircraft on June 3, in Lagos as a safety precaution,” the statement said.

Government had suspended Dana’s licence on June 5, 2012, two days after its Abuja-Lagos scheduled flight 0992 crashed into some residential and commercial buildings in Iju-Ishaga, on the outskirts of Lagos.

The entire 153 passengers and crew as well as four persons on the ground perished in the crash.

The crash claimed the lives of some prominent Nigerians as well as some foreigners.

Among the victims were a former Vice-chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Prof. Celestine Onwuliri; and the spokesman for the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Livi Ajuonuma.

Whole families were also lost in the crash.

NYSCRe: Why Do Corpers Lack Employment After NYSC? by pingpong1: 6:43pm On Sep 04, 2012
Billyonaire: Jobs are everywhere but the skills are lacking. ATM engineers and technicians are needed by banks. Telecoms Exchange technicians. Nuclear energy scientists are needed now at our atomic energy laboratories. There are so many jobs but the skills are lacking... you see grauduates with pure sciences and social sciences and education degrees all over the place. These are not applied knowledge. We need to go back to skilled sector. That's where the money is.
I reckon people just want jobs to keep them going not "where the money is"

Too much programming has removed Seun from family realities. Kids love mobile phones. The real ones, not toys. Get them the whole of Disney Land, they'd still want your mobile phone.

leyom234: Majority of Nigerians know virtually nothing about PHCN. You just want light abi? Just yesterday, MR Vice President blasted the man because it was discovered that he actually had personal interest in PHCN companies. Barth is into business of power generation. He expressed personal interest and the vice president was furious at him. He resigned out of shame. He owns a company called Geometricpower which claimed to be generating power to the national grid but in actual sense, it generates nothing. His plan to own parts of PHCN was exposed and he resigned in shame. I know Nigerians will not want to believe this because they feel its PHCN staff that cause power outage and interruption.

He is involved in shady deals. Power obviously improved because his companies or interests were involved.

Yes. That is the reason. Conflict of interest.
