AutosSymptoms Of Bad Fuel In The Car And The Solution by pinson(op): 1:39am On Sep 12, 2017
It is possible for water to get into your vehicle’s fuel tank when you’re pumping new fuel into it at the fuel station. The weather outside can also cause condensation to form which puts water in your fuel tank as well. Whichever way it happens, when water gets into a vehicle’s fuel tank, it needs to be dealt with promptly.

Common Symptoms

One of the symptoms you will notice is when your vehicle doesn’t perform the same. As you put your foot on the accelerator pedal, the vehicle will hesitate before it start moving. If you’re on the free road and try to go accelerate, the vehicle simply won’t go as fast as you want it to. The car may even start making sizzling sounds and emit particles from the fuel tank before randomly moving at faster speeds than you want it to.

If these symptoms just occur out of nowhere, then your fuel tank probably has water in it. The hesitation and the sizzling sound is due to the injectors having water slugs go into them. Since water does not burn the same way fuel does, the piston is not pushing anything upward after the combustion chamber is sprayed with water and causes steam to form. Therefore, when water is sprayed into the chamber, the injector is probably getting a water slug into it. This is what causes the sudden jolt of higher speed.

The Solutions

To fix the problem, all you can do is drain the entire fuel tank so you can get rid of the contaminated fuel. After that, you then fill the fuel tank with new uncontaminated fuel. Make sure the fuel system is cleaned while you’re doing this too. Sometimes you may have contaminated fuel if the suppliers of the fuel didn’t mix the fuel additives properly. This will make the additives ineffective at keeping out deposits.

Alternatively, you may end up contaminating your fuel if you don’t have a fuel cap over your tank and then it rains outside or condensation occurs during the night . Sometimes your fuel station may be at fault if its water filter was bad before supplying you with the fuel. If not that, then their fueling tanks could have dirt, water, or corrosion contamination or perhaps your own car’s fuel tank does. Filtration systems are not 100% reliable, despite all the filters it has. As a result, residue and contaminants end up in your vehicle and cause damage to it.

It is normal to have a little bit of water in your fuel tank. This little amount won’t cause the symptoms above to occur. But if you do notice these symptoms, then chances are you have a lot of water in your tank and you need to deal with that promptly.

Preventive Maintenance
Failure to carry out preventive maintenance services such as getting parts checked and greased when and where necessary etc. Not checking, topping up and changing fluids such as coolant for the radiator, engine oil etc when necessary and at the appropriate time can cause more damage than you can imagine.‎

Driving Hard On A Cold Engine

When you just start a car in the morning or after a period of rest, you need to understand that the oil would have cooled down and thickened and as a result wouldn't flow freely, you have to let the engine warm up so that the oil would get hot enough and as we all know hot oil flows freely.

Short Journey

Short trips aren't good for the engine because it doesn't allow the engine get hot enough to burn off "soot", water vapor etc in the engine oil and as a result can lead to sludge which is a terrible thing for a car's engine.

Not Allowing The Turbo Charger Cool Down

For those that have turbo chargers in their cars, the turbine in the turbo charger receives oil for lubrication of the shaft only when the engine is running, so it's best to let the turbo cool down before turning the engine off (this is for those that like to rev just before turning off the engine).

I felt so ashamed reading such story, but then it exposes the mind behind the person, because when I read his comments, I used to wonder what manner of man would be so anti to his own tribesmen, then what I read is a story of a destroyed soul. Car TalkWhy You Shouldn't Repaint That Car by pinson(op): 2:56pm On Aug 04, 2017
http://motorfixer.com/why-you-shouldnt-repaint-that-car/

Lagos roads, especially, can be specially tricky. One moment, your car is fine, another, it is scratched. However, does all of these mishaps require a repaint? Well, you may want to grade your options after reading this.

1. Car Damaging
The process of stripping( removing the car paint) the original paint is not car-friendly and the entire process is kind of damaging to the metal of the car. It can destroy the body of the car that no amount of paint may resolve it.

2. Bad Quality of Repaint
Companies like Volkswagen go through an eight stage process to ensure the color quality of the car doesn’t fade , but when you will get it painted outside by the local service centres , you will not get the quality. It is quite sad to see a car repainted loose its colour quickly. A repainted car never gives back the initial feel and look of the car.

3. The sad part of colour options
People sometimes pick colour for repaint because it is catchy. This can be the biggest mistake in car painting. The repainting of a car is greatly discouraged because some colour repaint can do more bad than good. For example, a car repaint from white to black.

A black car will do the following
• Not only will the paint heat up to the temperature of the sun, but will cause the interior to heat up proportionately along with it.
• Black shows every nuance of paint flaws.
• Black car paint is the hardest color to keep clean.
It is advised that one keep to the manufacturer colour of the car.

4. Risk
Car stripping can sometimes be as dangerous as surgeries. Apart from the fact that they may destroy the car or make it look worse, it can make the car more dangerous to drive. Car repainting may, for example, leave the unbolted panels during stripping unbolted. This can affect the performance of the car generally. And can sometimes be quite dangerous as important part of the car may be left unbolted.
If your car is stolen, you may not be able to easily claim ownership. This is because your manufacturer’s colour is the registered colour. If the car is repainted and not duly re-registered, the risk of totally losing the car is pretty higher.

5. It Reduces the Cost of the Car
If you are thinking of reselling your car, it is advised that you avoid repainting it. The repaint would reduce interest and cost of the car immediately the buyer finds out about the repaint.

Car TalkWe All See Nice Cars But Do The Prices Really Match The Benefits. Car Body Types by pinson(op): 10:55pm On Aug 03, 2017
http://motorfixer.com/all-car-body-types/

We know how Nigerians love gazing at the Range Rover brands. The speedy Land Cruiser Prado and the never-ending Honda and Toyota brands. They are all nice cars but do the prices really match the benefits. I doubt it

Sedan : The most common car body type in Nigeria and around the world is Sedan(American, Australian, Canada) or Saloon (British, Irish) and they mostly have an Engine, Passenger and Cargo (EPC) compartment. In fact the basic reason of Sedan cars is to transport passenger (P) and their luggages (C) on ordinary road. Sedans are generally 4-door cars with separate space for luggage, engine and seating with a structure to accommodate at least 4 people with a fixed roof. Sedan cars have stretched boot. For example Honda Accord, Toyota Corrolla, Nissan Altima etc. If you think you have stuffs to load in your car e.g extra tyres, wheels, bags, any stuff and you still don’t want to inconvenient your passengers or lose proper view of the front mirror. I think a Sedan car is the answer

https://i0.wp.com/motorfixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/type-of-car.jpg?w=810

Hatchback : You see this type very well and many even confuse them to SUVs. Although many car manufacturers over the years are trying to make the difference insignificance but there are some examples and benefits of an Hatchback car body type.An Hatchback car has a rear door that swings upward to provide entry to the cargo area. Remember how you open your Hyundai IX35, Nissan Rogue, You realized these cars don’t have a stretched boot or cargo area ( x < 5m) in length. Some hatchbacks usually have low ground clearance like I10 brands, Picanto, and they also look very compact. A box shape like. IX35 is a perfect example. Many people don’t like this configuration cos it rear door can provide an access for intruders, thieves to break into the car from the back, although car manufacturers have improved on this setback over the years but it is still a tag we can’t overlook.Others love the fact that it rear door can swing upward and luggage can pile up as the cargo area may take.

https://i0.wp.com/motorfixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/tpye.jpg?w=735

MPV : it stands for Multi Purpose Vehicles. These ones are your Toyota Quest, Mazda minivan, Sienna etc. People love these cars not only because of the size but the flexibility it brings. You can fold the last passenger seat to extend the space of the cargo area and if you have a family, this makes a lot of sense with it accommodating comfortable seating of 6 to 8 people. They also have a better ground clearance than the hatchback category.

https://i1.wp.com/motorfixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/type1.jpg?w=520

SUV : It stands for a Sport Utility Vehicle. One of it basic features is the ability to give a better driving experience on rough or bumpy terrain than all other car body types. They can also be called off-road vehicles . It has a high ground clearance which makes it possible to withstand rough terrain with little or no damage. On rough terrain, SUVs tops it all. No wonder many Nigerians prefers this body type on holidays to developing or underdeveloped areas, rock or mountain communities, swamplands and it is a 5 to 7 seater depending on the length of the car. When you see a Land Rover, Range Rover or a Land Cruiser prado then you’ve just seen an SUV.

https://i0.wp.com/motorfixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/tpye2.jpg?resize=768%2C434

Coupe : Coupe is the name given to sedan cars with two doors only. The two doors are bit larger and though rear seat is available in some models, passengers can go inside through sliding of the front seats. Given it two doors structure, it is more elegant and stylish which makes many dudes prefers it. Coupe design is used mostly in countries like England, Canada, the UK, France and other European countries.Examples for Coupe are Aston Martin V8 Vantage Coupe,Audi RS 5

https://i1.wp.com/motorfixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/tpye3.jpg?w=693

Convertible cars : Convertible cars are the cars whose roof line can be removed or refitted as required. Generally it’s available in high end luxury vehicles. Electro mechanical devices are used for step by step folding of the roof lines. In earlier vehicles leather material were used. In modern vehicles the metal roof lines with design of folding part by part and eventually rest on/in trunk part of the vehicle. Operating of a button is good enough for folding or putting back the roof linings. Convertibles are more frequently used in cold countries wherein weather temperature is quite less and also roads have lesser dusty conditions. It’s purely a preferred choice for persons with passion of using stylish cars and the feel of air in hair when driving vehicle. So id you feel any need to get a car to for summer holidays in the beach, resorts like Obudu cattle ranch then a convertible car is flexible enough to give you maximum comfort. A popular example is the Toyota Solara.

Car TalkReliable And Applicable Suggestions On Good Engine Oil Car Owners Can Use. by pinson(op): 10:39pm On Aug 03, 2017
http://motorfixer.com/reliable-engine-oils/

Motor oil, engine oil or engine lubricant helps to lubricate the moving parts in an internal combustion engine as well as a cooling agent in the operations of engines. The engine oil also cleans out particles of chipped metals (gotten from wear and tear) from inside the engine, inhibits corrosion and improves sealing

Keep in mind:

There are various engine oil depending on various speculations, uses, cost and other determining features. These oil are listed below for you to consider which will go well with your car:

Premium Conventional Oil
Regular Conventional Oil
Full Synthetic Oil
Synthetic Blend Oil
Higher Mileage Oil

Our recommendations:

The premium conventional oil is most suitable for a brand new car because it is produced by the car makers, so all prospective requirements of the car is considered and instructions of usage is in the car manual.
Regular conventional oil should be a no-go area, think less about its low price. Only if you will be conscious of changing the oil regularly as its name also implies.
We recommend the synthetic oil for cars because of its dedications for high-tech engines. They have superiority and long-lasting performance in every critical area such as viscosity index to protection against deposits.
Synthetics, due to its excellent lubricating compounds runs very thin (still offers superb protection over regular oil) is prone to leaking past bad seals.
If your car has a slow leak from seals especially rear and front main seals while using regular oil, do not switch to synthetics because it will leak more.
Synthetic blends are recommended for owners of pickups and SUVs for high loads and high temperature. They are less expensive to synthetics and evaporates far less which reduces oil loss.
Researchers have it that almost two-thirds of the vehicles on the road have more than 75,000 miles on the odometer. So the oil refiners have identified this as an area of customer interest, and have new high mileage oils they’re recommending for these vehicles.

NOTE: Always use the specification of oil recommended by the auto manufacturer for your vehicle, if the manufacturer recommends 5W30, regardless of if it’s conventional or synthetic oil, make sure you use 5W30. Sometimes it is written on the oil filler cap.

What are the common things you should take note before getting a good or suitable engine oil for your car ?

Understand the labels you will find on every container of reputable motor oil.
The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) viscosity number (10W-40 versus 10W-30, for example); whether or not it suites the oil weight required for climate conditions on the car owners’ manual.
The viscosity number also tells you if the oil has passed the Energy Conserving Test.
In summary, in no order of superiority, these are seven highly recommended engine oils In Nigeria:

MRS Premier Xtra Formula SAE20W50
Key Features
Excellent engine protection
Protect your engine from wear and tear
Cleans your engine
Cools your engine
Protect your engine from sludge
Eliminate piston deposits
