What do Christians stand to lose if at the end of it all they found out there was no God?
Politics / Even If Nigeria Breaks..... by pipeewa(m): 11:15pm On Sep 28, 2015
I have watched with interest the clamour of our dearly beloved south east brothers for a Biafra nation. I wonder why some of us will call them names because they feel cheated in being part of a nation that seem to be going no where after 45years of independence. I don't think it is a crime for a people to seek revolution and a country that feels like home to them when they feel marginalized in the sharing of the big national cake. Nigeria is not fighting a war where we would preach of not being divided. But every sensible mind should think about this. Nigerians are united in sports. Nobody feels marginalized representing Naija then even our so called biafran warlords. We all celebrate our victories and cry against our loss. How does that work for us. Nigerians unite in corruption. We all are corrupt in one way or the other and some people cry foul when they feel they don't get enough or stolen as much as the other tribes. What a drama.

So let's us look at our scenario.

We instituted corruption in all spheres of life and government. We shield corrupt men who are brothers and celebrate them when they dole out stipends to us not making them accountable for their stewardship. We cry witch hunting when a corrupt officer is tried as long as he or she is our brother. We elect inexperienced hands who got things wrong, bastardized our institutions and made wrong decisions most of the time but instead of making amendments we shouted for them to continue. Who gives a total failure second chance in their own company even if it were your son or brother you will ask him to step aside and watch.

It seems this epidemic called corruption and stealing is woven into our skin so we don't repel it. It lives with us.
We should kill this disease first before breaking away. In 45years of independence we have been choosing regional and state leaders and none of them have been able to make good decisions to better the lot of their region and people. None of them parading themselves as leaders of the tribes now will not still be able to do well in the new heaven we are trying to build. We have tested them all. What have they done with the little they got. They stacked them in foreign lands. It will just be an avenue to steal more same story another day another country.
So even if Nigeria breaks today, will each tribe be able to choose a good leader, will corruption stop and people stop to shield corrupt people? Are we going to channel our resources towards nation building and people development?
Will each new country be able to feature better leaders than we have now and their well wishers who shut opposition down when they are accused or tried?
Even if Nigeria breaks today, will the South east brothers leave their businesses behind in Lagos and move their houses to the east claiming they are hated by the Yorubas. Will they stop transacting with these same people they claim don't love them. Truth is the eastern manufacturing companies will only thrive on the large population of Nigeria.
Each tribe is blessed by nature with so many beautiful features and minerals embedded in the crust of our earth. So no need of depending on other's resources. We are just being killed by laziness. If Nigeria breaks we are all going to survive but I don't advocate breaking sha. So let us come together as a people and make better decisions to choose able leaders by our power and make them accountable. Nigerian youths are powerful to change the situation of our county for the better If we start now. Long live Nigeria!

Well,he seems to have given a clear picture...and captioned it on Facebook as ' Christians, behold your merciful God'.
I have had this picture saved for over a week now and what I kept asking is why will God punish an innocent woman trying to save her husband and yes, grabbing his genital is the easiest way for her to make him weak...
Anyway...I won't stop believing that there is God. These days,I really don't see not going to church as a sin even thou I must but I try to do what is right and making people around me happy because the way most of these people who claim to be born again behave sometimes, makes one wonder what they learn from their 24hours church service.

just like i wrote here such laws were given for a reason but these laws have been abolished in the new testament. Mercy now prevails over judgement and grace inexhaustible. Dont just beleive there is God because even demons do believe and they tremble at the sound of his voice. Seek to know God personally and to hear from him independently that is when you are liberated from ignorance. I dont go to church to please God what will it fetch Him anyways? he cant be more godly. I go to church to pray for myself and family and others too. and because it will be more purposeful than to stay at home. I go to church to hear more of what God has put in the mind of another servant of His that can inspire me and make me a better person. I can't beat the fact that i am a product of some of the things i heard from other inspired beings around me or read in thier books. I go to church to inspire somebody as that will give me opportunities to meet pple I could help and be a blessing too. Also i go to church to express my God-given talents like singing and dancing and to bless others too that will listen to me. Why do you think the bible is the best selling book in the world? if you have read your bible with understanding you will discover most motivational nuggets are just a twist of some of the wise sayings and proverbs in the bible. You try and read objectively the book of Proverbs and Ecclesiastes with a particular topic in mind say finances or financial development you will be amazed at what you will find. So many people are broken busted and disgusted. drepressed suffering injustice and hunger. we just have to positively stand up and help. this is one way i have found, and it is working. Do not castigate those who go to church 24hrs without any change you will do well if you reach to them and discover it has just been a facade all the while. some even lost it in church politics they did not know. some are not broken in their spirit which the psalmist records as our reasonable service. your obedience can help others stand well. you will be amazed what result your positive choice will bring.

@op what do you believe?

When you do something repeatedly and you have the same result, it becomes your way of life.
when you try a road and it leads no where and someone comes around to show you the way then you will be loyal to that individual. If you are not careful you may worship that person. that sometimes is the relationship between pastors and their followers.
If I claim I received an inspiration from a supreme being, and I followed it to the letters thereby making my life simple better and straight why would someone condemn what is working for me. if i tell another fellow and he tries same and it works for him or her, why dispute i am out there to scam the fello.
apart from tithes and the issue of money what else does Jesus preach about the laws of God.
1. thou shall love the Lord with all thy heart, mind, strength
2. thou shall love your neighbour as yourself.
3. Do on to others as you would they do to you.
i add number 3. as the golden law preached by Jesus.

Tell me which of these laws if kept by everybody will not change the world. Just try and be reasonable
one of the faith or belief system that has changed more evil people in the world today undoubtedly is being born again.
do you know why the punishment in the old testament was severe? it was because the israelites had a hardened heart and grace was not available. despite all those laws they still committed those evils. But at the time of grace all sins have been paid for as long as we recieve the free gift that our sins are actually been paid for. today it is the laws of the land that punish offenders. most of the time we call offenders to be punished too without mercy. Well i realised that most jailed fellows dont necessarily change but become more hardened after their jail time. so which shd be more encouraged? to punish offenders or to tell offenders they have a chance to try again and do good with their lives. If i preach to an armed robber who has the potential of robbing my house one day, kill me or my beloved ones, and the guy converts to a good man. is that not wise? and the scripture says he that wins a soul is wise? Christ preaches forgiveness of sins, sharing our substance, house and food with others. clothing the naked, taking care of the neeedy, the orphan and the widows, seeking judgement for those who are oppressed and letting people know there is hope for them if they hang on to their creator and do his will. what else do you think will create much joy in the world than this? How many people have by mere words converted from their evil ways? kindly provide a statistics. and also look at how many people christianity is converting every day to do good. Some people could use gospel as business, it is not the first time and even the scriptures warned belivers of false prophets. its now for us to discern by God's leading who we can attach ourselves to as our real prophets. I have testimonies of those converted from their evil ways and are doing fine now. a guy was about committing sucide after a frusted life, a guy preached to him and he listened, followed the guy to church and he was prayed for. Soon his life changed and he became one of the happiest people on earth. What do you say, should we desist from doing this good. please dont castigate a system until you have known what it was originally developed for. we have bad users and abusers.

Who's talking about pre-election here? I'm talking about how Yorubas and their media houses propagate the falsehood that Jonathan destroyed Nigeria, like the economy was so good before GEJ came and destroyed it. They did the same with Abacha when he passed away, same thing they did before the build-up of the civil war. In case you have lost touch with history, let me refresh your memory.

It was the impunity and corruption in Government, the riots and crisis in the SW and the fight between Akintola and Chief Awolowo that made Nzeogwu, Adewale Ademoyega and other military officer stage a coup but Yorubas and their media outlets have made it seem like everything was nice and good until there was an "Igbo coup". Nobody talks about the corruption and impunity pre-1966 anymore courtesy of the sophisticated media of the SW.

It was also the destructive publications from the SW section of the media and the bad politics of some Yoruba moguls that created the avenue for the coups that ushered in IBB, Buhari, Abacha, and all other military heads of state in the 2nd republic but today the SW media has painted it like everything was good until Abacha came and destroyed Nigeria.

Same thing they are doing to GEJ's personality today and that is what the Op is trying to say. Every publication coming from the SW media today is somehow targeted at GEJ, even when he isn't involve they still find a way to lure him inside. You see publications like "GEJ's associate stole $2 billion", "GEJ minister decline invitation for probe" Thereby making it seem like Nigeria was an Utopia until GEJ destroyed it.

I have studied how Yorubas play politics for many years, it is disheartening. You Yorubas play destructive politics which is not healthy for a politically charged country like Nigeria. No wonder there was always riots and pandemonium in the SW in the early 70s and 80s.

I see where you are coming from, but unfortunately I don't base my action and thought on what someone did in the past. The only past story I love to read and learn from is the bible based on my belief. If you were born in 1966 good for you then you are old enof to tell me what happened then. But that I still view as past. Talking about now if a good number of people chose you in the past but later changed their mind to pick someone else. Then you should check yourself. The Yoruba media houses played a minor role in the fall of PDP as you must have learnt post election. And I am saying every evil that any of Jonathan men perpetuated in power would be laid on Jonathan cos he chose them. If they are wrongly accused the court is there to try them and if be treated thereafter as the case maybe. The whole matter is that this government feel Jonathan men stole with impunity and if some of the loot could be recovered then it could be channeled in the right places. Meanwhile, let the accused speak for themselves except you are an accomplice.

In the 1st republic it was the Yorubas, in the second republic it was still the Yorubas and Lagos-Ibadan media houses, and now it is still the Yorubas and their controlled media propagating that Jonathan destroyed Nigeria.

Why is the Yoruba race like this ehh? Before you attack me, just ask yourself one question. Is HuangCheng saying the truth? If yes then cure thyself if no then you can counter with facts cos i have my own facts.

Bro I think you are full of bitterness and hate for some Yoruba folks or Yoruba tribe. Something must have happened somewhere to think a tribe is the reason for the downfall of Jonathan or his government. If you check statistics of vote in southwest for PDP you will discover it was not only Ibos in Lagos that voted for Jonathan. Do you recollect in 2011. Most Yoruba states did not have any presidential aspirant. They voted for Jonathan. It means they wouldn't want a man they all came together to promote and enthrone fail. Some of the Yorubas that are educated are not card carrying members even all the ones you reply on nairaland. They are people who reason on thought patterns. Why do you think they did not vote for Obasanjo despite being from Yoruba land. They did not just believe in him. I guarantee you Buhari is also on probation if he fails, they will sing for him as soon as they exhaust patience on him, you watch. Some media houses could have been paid or reported situations out of sentiments I will not argue on that but I want to burst you tot about Yorubas hating on Jonathan. He couldn't have been president at first without them. People want a saviour and they tot Jonathan was one. He didn't justify that in 4 yrs and all the news of large economy was negated by proceeds in their pocket, failed institutions here and there. News of large money stolen and negative reports in the press. People respond to proofs. It's only a fool that will doubt proofs. If I have light in my house 16 hrs I won't complain bro. If the roads are good and I see proofs of government projects on ground not on paper. With all remodelling of airport MM1 can still no boast of working air conditioning system. NoBody will tell you you are already in Nigeria by the heat and bad odour coming from the arrival hall. These are what the government of Jonathan was judged on. I bet people were expecting a real, touchable, feelable and seeable change.

@ jaymichael and huangcheng.

Yes this is what all of us should worry about. The bad state of our roads. The dilapidated school buildings in our cities, towns and villages. The failed institutions both home and community. The epidemic in our land called corruption. The brain drain in our schools. The trend of failed governments we have had since independence. The fearof the unknown I mean: who else should we vote for as president? We can't even point to anyone out of the rest now. Imagine Buhari presented 33 names for ministerial list and 3 of them came clean of corruption charges. We should be worried if our current youths are ready to take up the responsibility of good leadership. At least youths have been tried before at different levels of government and they failed. We should be worried and reason together. We she stop calling names and passing bucks. What would digging through Yoruba or Igbo origin do to help us. What we have on ground is how to progress be better and flourish in all endeavours.

Bro I see your pain here. But two wrongs can not make a right. Things will get worse and worse if we should feed our egos and disrespect one another. I will write something on accent later but let me tell you the story here. I was speaking with a born Canadian man but his parents originated from Finland. He claimed I have strong accent and I told him am from Nigeria and he shouldn't expect me to speak like oyinbo. I told him he also has a strong Canadian accent. If you have listened to Canadian before they talk as if they are singing. With what I have learnt about accents it changes per location that is why even in Nigeria we can differentiate ourselves. Even in America each location has their own accents. We are all bonafide sons of this land. Why would anybody think less of me even in Nigeria where I have all rights. Let us build our self esteem bro. Think of anyone talking about your tribe as a fool who doesn't respect his people cos if he does, he will not disrespect others.

Who is Femi Aribisala? A pastor? Writer? Critic? Friend? Or foe?

A permanent enemy will let you know He is out there with a gun to kill you. A friend doesn't condemn, he tells you your wrong and helps you to make amends. If Femi is a friend of this country let him begin to use his words positively to affect institutions and people. Poisonous words don't change anything. They kill. We want to see writers, editors and columnist we can look up to for change not the man who is killing the president of the people with his words. We can not guarantee Femi Aribisala would do better than the people we respected in the past and changed in government. Reuben Abati comes to mind

Nigeria has never been well managed since 1979. All these 1980 boys who do not know their history think that Nigeria had everything going well until Jonathan came to power. The worst Nigerian leader ever in history is Babangida, Abacha, Obasanjo 2nd tenor and GEJ in that order. Jonathan worked very well only that he had opposition from the outset and being the first civilian born to a peasant family, to rule Nigeria, he could not muster enough courage to steer the ship of the nation. Exploiting GEJ weaknesses, many members of his cabinet did what other officials before them used to do - looting the treasury

I agree with you on this. We had very bad leaders. Jonathan joined them by not being able to set a standard for himself. Choosing a clear part to run would have been best for him but he followed a wrong path. All the sins of his subordinates we lay on him now for they were members of his cabinet. I wish am not saying this but it pained me Jonathan could not succeed in ruling well. I voted and begged friends and family to do same for him in 2011. All for good government. People are wise to know now when the government is not favourable to them. Their voice is power.
Politics / Tribal Abuse by pipeewa(m): 12:29pm On Sep 08, 2015
A lot of people don't respect their tribal homes and it shows in how they treat others.
When I was in secondary school. I had some guys who played around abusing their parents. That was a game of points. Each insult carried a weighted point. I would sit and listen to them and laff it off as jokes and games. Some day a guy engaged me and I discovered I couldn't say a word about his parents. Maybe because I didn't know them or my mother taught me so well not to raise an highbrow against an elder. She even refused us to use abuse and disrespectful words in all their variances.
Hmmmmm my classmate here being an ardent player in the game said just one word about my parents and people laughed giving him a point. All I could remember was slapping him for trying to insult my mum. I couldn't just hold it. It pained me so much I started crying.

I learnt only those who do not care for their parents abuse or insult other people's parents. What if the other person is better in the act than I can. Or what if a bird take those words to my parent at home. That would have been a grave crime to me. So, men and brethren I wish we could desist from abusing a tribe other than our own if we really do care and respect ours. If you are reading this and you still feel bad guts about a tribe, bury it and see the good side of them. Determine not to engage another friend today in tribal abuse. It doesn't show you respect your tribe as the other person is helping you to show the world. Nobody can stop a tribe to do what they determine to do for there is room at the top for every interested candidate.

My point is that the world is so unfair. Jonathan was bad but he did not create the problems. He was only unable to solve them satisfactorily which is my reason for not supporting him. However those who were either part of the problem or even partook in his government that failed to solve them are now coming up with many excuses thereby heaping the blame almost in its entirety to him.

Ok. Better now.
You see a leader must take responsibility for whatever happens under him. We characterised a regime by the action and inaction of the president or head of state. the reason a lot people clamour for Buhari was for his resume and at this time all of us want corruption out of Nigeria and looking for someone who champion this course. Jonathan could be a good person, but once a good man chooses a rep and the rep fails and the good man tries to steer clear of the responsibility of the rep and correct the wrong wether by using someone else or doing it himself then the action becomes the language of the leader. The white folks read you better by your unspoken words. Which we call body language. Every evil perpetuated under Jonathan government would be laid on him for we gave him all the power to rule.

I see you are a good student of history. But at times sentiments becloud one's sense of jugement if you allow it. Times we look away from facts just to support the line we throd. Try and check your mind and what you conceived when you were putting up these facts together and what you intend to achieve by every of your response. Do you want to spite the Yorubas? why? So you could become a hero of a sort? Do you want the Yorubas on this site respond to you and abuse and insult your tribe too just to be able to reply you well? How about doing a research on why the old houses were built with zinc and yet mud. Maybe you have not even been to these places before and see if there is development in other areas of same city before writing to condemn a whole city or language. Remember 'do to others what you want them do to you.

What can you do to make things better? Do you intend to invest in those places, bring the mud houses down and buld a new city with your technical know-how and sophistication?
if you can not achieve anything positive with your post i think it is good you dont write at all. the mind could be trained to achieve more positive things. Some people can engage you in your discourse hands down but what does it profit both of you. if you want to learn why those houses are like that seek to know by research and constructive and intelligent approach. You will be surprised what you can find.
thank you.

Dear Tonye Barcanista,
A good number of Nairalanders are addicted members. Some claim they are leaving while they still log in as guests to read comments. So before you stop commenting this is what I have to advise you.
1. I have read several of your posts. Some on point and some, like you are in a debate trying to garner points just to subvert the obvious truth. But I dare say you are brilliant and a good debater and orator.
2. You are a leader and you easily can make followers by your passion and choice of words in a debate thereby comanding a good number of followers most especially those who are naive.
3. You are vast in politics and you have a lot of materials to buttress your argument both factual materials and cruel ones.
4. You mean well for yourself first and then Nigeria. Which is like an adage that says if you give a mad man a hoe, the madness will not stop him from scooping first to himself.

I will like to submit here that your God given brain and your self developed acumen is for a purpose. Posterity! So I say
1. Think about how you can rightly influence a crowd to do good. Let your yes be yes and no be no. Do not call a black grey for closeness.
2. Everybody makes mistakes. Admit and correct your mistakes. That is a trait of a good leader. You gain more respect and trust
3. People will always need leaders. Be the right one bro. it is very easy now to measure bad leaders. By their words and actions you shall know them. We need positive intelligent people in Nigeria. FFK is intelligent but we all know we dont want him as a leader again.
4. As you go, evaluate your circle of infuence, who are they? Evaluate your critics what exactly are they saying about you. Then evaluate yourself if you are actually projecting the right signs of a good king. A good man will always surround himself with good men.
5. Not everybody thinks your way so allow them think differently, criticise them constructively and applaud thier feats and celeberate their triumphs. There is always room at the top for every interested candidate
6. When the godly are in authority, the people rejoice. But when the wicked are in power, they groan. Prov 29.2 NIV
7. Always remember the golden rule. - "do unto others what you will want them do to you"

Tonye, kindly take this in good faith I really mean well for you and I hope you see from my heart.

Kindly read my next post. thank you.-I voted and begged friends and family to Vote for Jonathan in 2011

Which government celebrate construction of roads and rail lines in developed countries and still expect people to vote for them. These so call 'performances' we celebrate are normal things that don't get celebrated in developed nations. And you still have all effrontery to talk to the interviewer. You no dey shame? Kindly step out of Nigeria so your orientation can change.
