Please I need information about cchub. Is it like a camp where enterpreneur, geeks, etc gather. I stay at Abuja but cchub is in lagos, will it be possible for me to apply. Lastly, how safe is your business idea with them since they do not sign a NDA. |
Maybe foreigners are running away from Ukraine due to racism, since Africans(Nigerians,Ghanaian) are used to it,they prefer giving them more opportunity to come there instead of other nationals. |

Please can somebody tell me where a ICT graduate can work? |
Ajibel: Bro, sorry u've got to research well on starting up. Maybe thats why u havent come up with a start up. Do u think founders of those big companies u mentioned waited for angels before startinglook bro, it depends on wat kind of idea u ave. for example youtube founders didn't startup just like that because they knew if they would their idea was going 2 be a total failure(insufficient money to pay for servers), that why they needed angels for starting up. |
victorv12: The problem we're having in Africa is that we don't have explorers, and our environment doesn't create room for creativity to thrive .infact it is proverty that gives room for thinking and ideas |
Yeah you can start up something without money, but you can't sustain it without money. Our principal problem is seeing far sighted people who are willing to invest in our ideas and expect longrun benefits not immediate results.
Dat's ALL.u're very correct |
Ajibel: iThink we should stop lying to ourselves that money hinders us. Keep that "lack of money" thought in mind and u wont start up anything.Ii don't seem 2 agree wit u..Youtube owners had an angel investor who help them , facebook also had an investor, groupon had an investor, even google. Would any of their idea come true without adequate finance? The jumia.com nd irokotv u guys re talking about,do u knw ow much they had on ground before starting their business. If u don't knw jason(irokotv) had $100,000 on ground b4 starting his site. Youth in dis country gat ideas but need investors. The guy who did d Nigerian Constitutional app got up 2 $10000 frm investors. |
Ajibel: Trash. Just watch out for some young Nigerians in few years time who'd lift Africa's image as the next IT capital particularly NIGERIA.I support u |
Do anybody know any good and well known VC firm in Nigeria. I contacted unique venture capital but they told me that they don't invest in tech related business |
Do anybody know any good and well known venture capitalist firm in Nigeria. I contacted unique venture capital but they told me that they don't invest in online related business. |
The problem with africa is the absence of angel investors/venture capitalist. Imagine someone like me(17 yrs) going into d bank asking 4 loan to startup an internet business, the next thing is d bank manager (whatever dey call themselves)asking me 4 collateral, like i have any property. Check this recent thread i opened in Nairaland http://nairaland.com/1401052/nigerian-banks-grant-teenagers-loans |
kayLion: @OP..Nice courage u gat here..thinking of 4million loan but I think its better to start little by little..try find where u can get smaller amount and start with...I know of a microfinance bank (Advans Lafayette) in Ibadan, they grant loans to 18+ and u must have a place of business, and u have to have an idea of ur business for at least 3years..I believe with this 3 years u have gathered enough knowledge from your business and you can pay back the loan easily...As much as I like your Confidence, I think slow and steady wins d race..try your Business idea with little capital before moving onto bigger one...Peace!!Thanks for the reply. The problem is that the business i am wanting to start needs a lot of capital for startup. |
Dempsy: Pls bank shud not try such unless they want us mature ones to start dragging ladies wit these teenagers.....cus ladies change direction like compassSir, wat have ladies got to do with this? |
Please i will also appreciate if anybody can refer me to any venture capitalist or youth empowerment programme |
Or are you scared??
somehow |
saxywale: Wait till you are 18 and banks hardly finance a business that's less than a year old. It's part of risk mitigation.By the way, if it's a start up firm, its best you look for investors.Don't know where i can get one |
360command: Yes bank give loans to Minors . The banks to which i am sure of are the micro finance banks who give loans to people who want to start up trade such as purchase of Gala, la casera, etc(micro loans for Micro business to micro minors if i can use that word).am planning of collecting a loan of about 4million |
baslone: Without the collateral, the banks will not give you a loan except they see and are impressed by what you are doing, not what you intend to do.how sure are you? |
baslone: Without the collateral, the banks will not give you a loan except they see and are impressed by what you are doing, not what you intend to do.that's my problem.. You know how Nigerian Parents are. Imagine me going to my father telling him he should stand as a guarantor for me because am about to collect a loan of about 4million naira from a bank,he will look at me like someone who doesn't know what his saying, that's if he even listens to what am saying. |
lalaboi: I would suggest you to contact the banks individually. .thanks |
Blessmira: Oya, wetin u wan use loan do? Abi, u wan use am buy smart fone 2 increase d temperature of ur swag.please read my previous post |
How much is the OP planning to raise? 1 milllion? 2 million? 500K?
i need 3-4 million |
lalaboi: How old are you? And what level of institution are you?just clocked 17years..finished secondary school last 3month |
Billyonaire: An angel investor will be better for you. Armed with business plan, module and a case study, you could secure the trust of an angel investor who has passion for your online business model, but make sure you sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) with the Angel investor so he cant just walk away with your business idea and model. Two of my business ideas were hijacked by investors I discussed with when I was in my early 20s, just out of University then. Those 2 businesses have generated billions for those guys, even though I know they hijacked my ideas, I could do nothing cos I didnt sign NDA with them and never patented my models.thanks 4 d comment..if i may ask, do u knw where i can get investors. i sent an email to the head of youth empowerment program but got no reply. |
lalaboi: LOL.an I actually have a business idea and i need capital for startup.. Please can u tell me any bank that gives loan to teenager based on a good business idea/proposal |
i actually need the loan 2 start up an online business. i am also looking for a angel investor |
Is there any Nigerian bank that give loan to teenagers. Please i need response |
Please can anyone help me on how to get a angel investor in Nigeria. |
Ajibel: Yuupp (cuz most people here wants to do sth that'd fetch in quick bucks and thats not so with game programming). Most importantly, when am ready!!! Am not nauokay |
Please Nairalanders recommend a site for me where i can buy upto 10000 facebook likes(only nigerian facebook user). Recommend a site u've used before. |
Its short-sighted and lazy folks that would say i have no money so cant start up. Havent u heard of kickstarter
