Here is an open and honest discussion.
I don’t dislike Islam, but I hate the human rights abuses of conservative Muslim nations. I also hate that some liberals hesitate to condemn these behaviors. Honestly, I never thought I'd see the day when liberals defend people whose laws treats women as second-class citizens. The legality of spousal rape, the practice of polygyny, arranged marriages in which women have no say, the fact that a woman’s testimony is worth exactly half a man’s in court: it surprises me that liberals ignore this stuff.
I scratch my head whenever an American-Muslim woman comes on MSNBC to explain her choice to wear the headscarf. Is she supposed to be speaking for all Muslim woman? At least she has a choice; tens of millions of Muslim women don’t. An Iranian women caught not wearing a headscarf will receive 70 lashes or 60 days imprisonment. Seventy lashes! That’s barbaric.
Do we assume that Muslim women embrace this culture? If they do, why did 100,000 Iranian women protest mandatory headscarf-wearing in Iran? Maybe to Muslim-Americans, it is a choice; but I want every Muslim women to have that choice: Iranian, Saudi, etc

In Saudi Arabia, women must be accompanied by male chaperone (called a ‘Mahram’) in public. They legally cannot drive a car, use public swimming pools (reserved for men), compete in sports, open a bank account without a male guardian, or even try on clothes in a dressing room.
This is a problem. No American or British woman would ever consent to this. Why shouldn’t we fight for their rights as well?

Please don’t use this as an opportunity to bash 1.6 billion Muslims. I am not sure if you guys know, but I have Muslim friends and neighbors. Muslims serve side by side Jews in the IDF and one of the most passionate Zionists I know is Muslim. I critiqued one behavior.
I think there are some aspects to all religions which are frightening, but here’s one that bothers me, the holiest country to Muslims is Saudi Arabia, and the holiest cities are found there. But the behavior feels quite unholy to me and I think it’s something Islam can improve.
There’s very little public disgust about Mecca practicing religious apartheid. I’m shocked and saddened to see a city in the twenty first century, where the roads are actually segregated by religion.
I also don’t understand how there isn’t more public protest against the lack of freedom of religion there. According to the State Department, non-Muslims of different faiths who engage in overt religious activity have been subject to “ arrest, imprisonment, lashing, deportation, and sometimes torture” Saudi Arabia

My Muslim friend can eat dinner with me near my home in Jerusalem. I can’t eat dinner with him near his home in Mecca. Hypothetically, he could have tea in my living room if we were chaperoned but not in his living room, because as a Jew, I can’t enter the city. (Why chaperone? It’s his religious requirement since I’m an unmarried woman.)
My friend can pray in Jerusalem, wear his traditional clothing, observe his faith publicly.
I can’t pray in Mecca (if I wanted to), wear a Magen David necklace or observe my faith publicly.
Jews and Muslims celebrating their faiths openly.
I think Muslims who enjoy the freedom of religion in other countries should work harder to bring that freedom back to the cradle of their faith. 1 Like

I was born and raise a Muslim. My father had no problem with delivering harsh beatings on me for making mistakes when he was teaching me the Quran. Naturally, I spent the first 14 years of my life thinking that this was the true religion, and that I would go to hell. I was always convinced that Islam was true due to the 'Quran miracle claims' which were all over the web, which satisfied me into thinking that I was definitely following the true religion, despite the fact that, being the fool I was at the time, I had not even bothered to READ the 'miracle claims'.
Ironically, it was Wikiislam that caused me to have doubts about my faith. I stumbled upon it while searching for information about my religion, and decided to 'have a look round'. I came across the page detailing scientific errors in the Quran. Being the naive person I was, I couldn't believe that the 'Holy' Quran would have scientific errors. I began investigating further into these errors, and I soon found that these WERE genuine errors, meaning that the Quran was indeed false. Therefore, I secretly declared myself an apostate, and became a supporter of Ali Sina, Richard Dawkins and the Council of Ex Muslims.
Ultimately, I am glad that I have left Islam, and am happy at the freedom I now have since leaving this religion. I would like to thank Wikiislam for providing me with the turning point in my life, and giving me the information I needed to leave this awful Religion |

I am a Muslim, and I’m Indonesian. Indonesia is the country who have the largest Muslim population. I’m going anonymous to prevent ad hominem argument. Because this is sensitive issue in my country. Before you attack me personally, I studied in Islamic school and have additional private Quranic education for 9 years, I active in Islamic Organization for 6 years in High School. I am fresh-graduate student.
Some people say people misunderstand Islam (blaming others), but I think it isn’t. It is because Muslim who implement and behave Islamic teaching in inter-religious community who doesn’t know how to behave peace, calm, and don’t know how to argue, and respond critiques and difference. First lesson. Self-Introspect. You can’t control other people (other religious), but you can control your own people. Isn’t it?
Notes: Indonesia got much illiterate people (can’t/don’t finish their school). “They” who I refer in this text is them and opportunist-Islamic-Politician, conservative-Islamic-politician, radical-Islamic-Organization that using them in political activity.
When Islam got critiques, they fought back like “But you did it too!” “Why only us who got the critiques, not the (mention the Americas, Western, and the other villain), who do that too!”. After that, they mention our “false” according to them. People got antipathy for that behaviour. When you got critiques, you have to do self-introspects.
They don’t respect different argument. But it is normal and healthy to have a debate or different arguments in democratic country like Indonesia. They called/provoked/labelled people like us “kafir! / Satan”“liberal!” “colonial!” “asing! / foreigner” “capitalist!” “Zionist!” but don’t have a better counter-argument for us. They mocked us, they insult us, they call that “conspiracy” (they bring Zionist Jews, Freemason, Chinese-Communist story). After that, another people like them when they know us, they just using our label, whatever our argument is. In short. Hasty Generalization
They think Muslim who have different opinion from them as liberal-Muslim or Islam traitor. Black-or-White. For some people here, that label is a bit little harsh.
They think people who criticizes or scrutiny Ulamas, (Muslim Leader) Ustadz (Muslim teacher), Islamic Activist, Islamic Party, Muslim Organization as insulting Islam. They even don’t believe that terrorist suspect when He happened to be Muslim, they say it is a conspiracy. But in my opinion, maybe Islam is always right, but Muslim can be wrong sometimes. Back to point no. 2
They (usually lower-class or lower-educated or conservatives-politician) think Muslim scholars who got western study, even has studied in Middle-East University (people who get better educated) isn’t allowed argue about Islam and only their traditional Ulamas who can do that (information-monopoly). Back to point no. 3
When it comes to Muslim who got some achievement (like winning competition, inventor, winning election as President, Mayor etc) They called it Islam Achievement. But maybe He is inventor who happened to be Muslim. But when It comes to bad thing happened with Islam such as ISIS, Al Qaeda, Terrorist-Frame that give by media, they denied it. They call “ISIS is not Islam” bla-bla-bla. Furthermore, they called it “western conspiracy”. I’m sick for that double standard. Back to lesson no. 1, Self-Introspect.
Newton’s Third Law of Motion. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. They always says that western medias is bias. OK, assume that true. But two wrong don’t make it right. They created another so-called “Ummat/ Islamic Media” that is more bias even don’t get journalistic standard. When we ask that, back to point no. 1
Muslim in Indonesia is a majority (about 83%) but Indonesia is not sharia-country like Malaysia (even it’s only 60% Muslim). We are civil-law country. They often say (specifically in politics, demonstration, legislation & regulation debate) they can do anything (like implements some sharia-laws) to minority just because Islam is majority here. Example: You (Restaurant-Owner) can’t sell food in Ramadan in middle noon, and local-police throw-away your food there. Small Christian community (<50 people) can’t build a church when is not approved by 90 neighbors and have struggle more than 4 years to advocate it.
Islam enter this country via India/Arabic merchant/trader. Islam in Java Island is popularized by 9 people called “Wali Songo” who make acculturation Islam and Javanese Culture. Islam is brought to this country with peace. But in this after democracy era, because point no. 6, some Islam-organization (not terrorist, only radical) doing “Dakwah” by radical. Example: They doing police jobs to destroy night club, alcohol (legal-limited), even destroy different “mazhab” mosque. When TV or Media criticize them, they attack the office, not respond with counter-argument. They always justify their action buy calling that “Amar Ma’ruf Nahi Munkar” (an Islamic concept that order people and engage other people to do the right things and avoid bad things) that is debatable on implementation when dealing with national law or nationalism concept. People who converted to Muslim believe Islam is a peace religion. And those organization make Islam image politically more hatred. Isn’t Muslim people is happy when more people converted to Islam peacefully and willingly?
Like people in this thread who says some rules in Islam that is confusing and order you to do violence. That ‘ayat’ (phrase in Quran and Hadith) always used in campaign. Example: Don’t choose Christian and Jews to be your leader ayat is used when political campaign. Another: Hadith that told you to kill the Homosexual when LGBT issues is arrising. I think the teaching is not wrong and it isn’t fake, but have to be careful in implementation and communicate with another beliefs (inter-religion dialogue). In democracy, we have to compromise. AMAZING: Instead Of Praying To Allah On The Temple Mount In Jerusalem, Muslims Chose To Bow To Jews Instead.

It looks like the Palestinians will have to bow again in worship towards Jewish soldiers instead of bowing to Mecca during the Friday prayers on the Temple Mount.
Here is how this story goes. Last Friday, when three Palestinian citizens of Israel shot and killed two Israeli police officers stationed outside the Temple Mount, Israel set up metal detectors at the entrances to the Temple Mount to prevent terrorists from ever entering the compound.
Now the terror incident and these metal detectors is threatening to send shockwaves throughout the region.
The story goes that the three assailants were pursued back into the compound and were killed in the ensuing gun battle. Israel’s response was a temporary closure of the Temple Mount (for the first time in recent history) until Israeli-manned metal detectors was set up at two entrances to the Temple Mount to protect from any weapon smuggling into the holy site before people enter the compound to do their prayers. Israel says no more to weapon-smuggling into the holy compound.
But the Muslim world is irate. They want the metal detectors out.
So it is not that Israel is preventing Muslim worshippers entry, but that worshipers are told by Muslim authorities to boycott the Temple Mount and have led a week-long civil-disobedience campaign that will come to a head during Friday’s prayers (few hours from now).
So the Palestinians are now on a ‘prayer-strike’ from the Temple Mount and now the world needs to beg them to pray on the Temple Mount, but only after Israel removes the two metal detectors from the entrances.
So now the metal detectors represent a threat to peace and security throughout the region.
Got it?
One would think that such a problem would be solved by the Islamic trust, or Waqf (governing body under Sharia that govern all charitable institutions), appointed by Jordan, which oversees internal matters at the Temple Mount.
But this is not the case anymore. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Turkey’s Erdogan discussed the solutions where Abbas requested Erdogan to contact President Donald Trump to deal with the situation to pressure Israel to remove the metal detectors since the matter is now considered urgent (see Turkish Daily Sabah).
In addition, the spiritual head of the Muslim Brotherhood, Sheikh Yusuf Qaradawi, a friend of Erdogan is calling on all Muslims globally to kickoff the “Friday of Rage” intended to escalate the issue of Jerusalem to a global level while asking all Muslims in the Palestinian area to converge towards Jerusalem and pray in the vicinity outside the compound which always ends up with prayers in front of Israeli guards as in the photo above. This of course sells the cause to Muslims worldwide that the Palestinians are now forced to bow to Jews.
Only a drunkard can come up with such a solution to terrorism in Jerusalem’s holiest place. Scriptures teach that the world will become drunk over the matter of Jerusalem:
“Jerusalem will be like a cup in my hand. It will make all the surrounding nations drunk from the wine of my anger. Judah will be attacked by its enemies …” (Zechariah 12:2)
When God says “drunk” he means “drunk” and is exactly what we see.
But such drunkenness is not isolated to people who only follow the Quran, pastor John Hagee on CBN says that his “blood moon discovery” and “Russia” (not Turkey) is the beginning of the end.
“So the very specific thing that happened as soon as those blood moons ended was that Russia moved out to the Middle East, and Russia is not going to leave the Middle East,” Hagee warned. “They’re going to join with Iran to build… a massive army that will in time try to perform a land invasion of the state of Israel.”

Open a church in Nigeria and you can be sure to have at least 10 members in the first month and depending on how you market yourself and package your message, this number could quadruple over a few months.
There is something Nigerians are looking for especially the women but I am not sure what it is. They will enter any building on Sunday even if it is a shack, to listen to their favorite self-appointed man of 'god' preach on a topic that tickles their ears and at the end of the so-called service empty their pockets into the church's coffers, with no thought for how the money will be spent.
Nigerians like church, it is a tradition that does not necessarily have anything to do with reverence for God or righteousness. Some people spend hours getting ready for church to display their latest attire, others go to 'wash' that new car and still others go to give testimony about that prospering business or new husband or promotion. A great majority go to church to ask for help in the war against witches, wizards, elves, fairies, demons, devils, wicked men and women and Satan himself. They will scream all day and all night while the pastor urges them on, often daydreaming on how much money he will get from the sheeple or how many of the girls he will sleep with.
These Nigerian sheeple will curse and fight or even wish death on anyone who dares to challenge their man of God, to them he is God on earth, an infallible pope, their mentor, husband and lord of lords. In fact, their emphasis is always on how God is doing great things for their man of God, on how their church is growing - nothing about their impoverished communities and the plight of millions.
In the midst of dire and great need, these men of God spend millions upon millions of ill-gotten tithe money on frivolities like Jets, entertainment, new cars and opulent houses, not to talk of rock star type of living. And my people starve, borrow, die in penury, want and stress, while these their favorite pastors live in total luxury and comfort.
Why are Nigerians so terribly gullible, why can't they stop this madness and leave these churches completely and focus on the things that really matters such as;
- Living a godly life by emulating the lifestyle of Christ
- Helping real people with real needs
It's a case of huge despair, I don't know how we can fix this problem ?? True talk. I am fed up seeing christians advertising their Pastor and His wife on their whatsapp DP and FB pages. They dont even try to tell you what they feel about God. Its always " My pastor said this" "my pastor said that". The most popular ones on FB are Oyedepo, TB Joshua, Adeboye, and Oyakhilome. You dare not question their sermon. They are perfect in everything according to their members . The truth is, these pastors are not the problem just like someone said above. The members are. They are so weak minded that they accept everything without consulting God by themselves. They have made their pastors Mediators. Pathetic! 2 Likes |

Police are investigating possible hate crimes by the protesters who called for banning Islam and an imam at the mosque who recited supplications for the annihilation of the enemies of Islam and purification of al-Aqsa Mosque from the “filth of Jews.”

My name is Sandra Solomon. I am an ex Muslim who lived in the Saudi Arabian society governed by 100% Sharia law.
I suffered a lot in Saudi Arabia from the teachings of Islam because of the lack of women rights.
I was neglected, ignored and forbidden to sharing my thoughts on Islam to the point where I was always under risk of being murdered by honor killing from my brother, who attempted to kill me just because I refused to wear the hijab [head scarf].

A member of the mosque congregation said to Sandra that she is free to choose her faith emphasizing that her problem is not with Islam but with the Saudi regime.
