Education / Stainless Steel Erases Garlic’s And Onions Aroma - Here Is The Chemistry Behind by pleadge(m): 1:25pm On Mar 07, 2017
If you love cooking with garlic, you know it does a lot of good in recipes by helping build flavor — but its strong odor can linger for hours, especially on our hands.

We’ve all been in the situation where after preparing a wonderful meal, we’re left with the stench of garlic on our fingers — yuck! There are a few tricks people often recommend to eliminate the smell: lemon juice or vinegar, rubbing your hands with salt, or even using toothpaste! But those don’t work — all they do is mask the garlic smell. So what does really work? Stainless steel.
Using any stainless steel surface works. Try your stainless steel kitchen sink or faucet — just hold your hands under cold running water while rubbing the stainless steel for 10 seconds. Voila, the smell will be gone.
Let’s explain why stainless steel works.
Not surprisingly, it all has to do with the chemistry of garlic and stainless steel. Garlic contains molecules with sulfur. When cutting garlic, the molecules are transferred to your skin. Washing your hands with water heightens the smell because the water causes the sulfur to turn into sulfuric acid. When you touch stainless steel, the molecules in the steel bind with the sulfur molecules on your hands, thus transferring the molecules (along with the smell) to the metal and off from your hands. Presto! No more garlicky fingers.
Stainless steel can also help remove onion or fish odors from your hands. So the next time you’re handling garlic, onions or fish as part of your kitchen prep, try stainless steel for yourself. You’ll be surprised at how well it works.

Education / Penis Artwork Sack Teacher by pleadge(m): 10:57am On Mar 04, 2017
An Austrian teacher has been fired from his job at a secondary school after he let his 12-year-old students create an oversized model of an erect penis.
The students drew penis during an art and crafts class; although the children reportedly found it funny, but their parents were not amused.
The 49-year-old teacher was employed at a high school in Waidhofen an der Thaya in Lower Austria.
He already had a reputation for making inappropriate sexual remarks in front of his students, and his teaching methods had been called into question.
Parents of pupils complained to the head of the school after they found out what their children had been creating in art class.
School director Roland Senk confirmed that the teacher was present whilst the students were creating the model of the penis, and that the incident could not be dismissed as “a harmless joke”.
The large-scale penis model was removed from the classroom and destroyed, and last week the teacher had to appear before the Lower Austrian School Board.

Foreign Affairs / Trump Picks Gorsuch As Supreme Court Judge by pleadge(m): 11:01am On Feb 01, 2017
U.S. President Donald Trump has nominated a federal Judge Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court, choosing a jurist widely seen by conservatives as a fitting
successor to the late Antonin Scalia.
According to Foxnews the development Gorsuch will have a fierce confirmation battle with Senate Democrats already vowing resistance.
Touting his nominee’s credentials and legal mind, the president said he was living up to his own vow during the campaign to nominate someone who respects the law and “loves” the Constitution.
“Judge Gorsuch has outstanding legal skills, a brilliant mind, tremendous discipline and has earned bipartisan support,” Trump said, noting he was confirmed unanimously to his current judicial post.
He quipped: “Does that happen anymore?”
Gorsuch, 49, has served on the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver for more than a decade.
Trump’s move to elevate Gorsuch was hailed by a range of conservative groups and Republican lawmakers late Tuesday.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., called the judge an “outstanding” pick who “understands the constitutional limits on the authority of a federal judge.”
Trump’s choice, if confirmed to the high court, would take the seat that has remained vacant since Justice Scalia died nearly a year ago.
The nominee was among Trump’s original list of 21 potential choices circulated during the presidential campaign.
But Democrats are still smarting over Republicans’ refusal to consider then-President Barack Obama’s nominee, Merrick Garland, and some have vowed to retaliate by opposing Trump’s pick.
Late Tuesday, Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer raised the potential threat of a filibuster, saying the Senate “must insist” the nominee garner 60 votes.
If Schumer or any of his colleagues take the procedural step to require 60 votes, Trump would need to find at least eight Democrats to join Republicans in supporting his pick.
“The burden is on Judge Neil Gorsuch to prove himself to be within the legal mainstream and, in this new era, willing to vigorously defend the Constitution from abuses of the Executive branch and protect the constitutionally enshrined rights of all Americans,” Schumer said in a statement.

Foreign Affairs / Washington State Sues Trump Over Immigration Order by pleadge(m): 7:39pm On Jan 30, 2017
SEATTLE (AP) — Washington state's attorney general says he is suing President Donald Trump over an executive order that suspended immigration from seven
countries with majority-Muslim populations and sparked nationwide protests.
Attorney General Bob Ferguson announced his lawsuit Monday, becoming the first state attorney general to announce a legal action against the Trump administration over one of its policies.
Trump signed an executive order Friday that suspends all immigration for citizens of the seven countries for 90 days.
Ferguson was one of 16 state attorneys general who released a statement Sunday calling Trump's immigration action "un-American and unlawful."
Trump's order sparked large protests around the country over the weekend.

Politics / List Of Every 'word Of The Year' by pleadge(m): 4:51pm On Jan 25, 2017
Hashtag. Metrosexual. Occupy.
Those three words have one thing in common — they've all been named "Word of the Year."
Every year since 1990, members of the American Dialect Society have gathered at their annual convention — once called "the Super Bowl of linguistics" — to crown the word that defined the year. The linguists and lexicographers vote on words based on their predominance in headlines and widespread use throughout the country.

Anything considered a "lexical item" can be nominated, meaning multi-word phrases like "dumpster fire" — named 2016's Word of the Year earlier this month — are fair game. The same goes for hashtags, prefixes, and even emoji.
Because each Word of the Year is closely tied with the era that spawned it, looking back at the list of every winner is like flipping through a yearbook of the past quarter-century. There's the surge of Internet-related words like "cyber" and "information superhighway" in the early 1990s and a string of political words like "chad" and "weapons of mass destruction" that reflected the climate of the early 2000s.
More recently, tech words like "tweet" and "app" have dominated the vote, demonstrating how much the internet has influenced our language.
Take a look at every Word of the Year, and take a trip through time.

The American Dialect Society chose "dumpster fire," a metaphor suggesting a poorly-handled or out-of-control situation, as 2016's Word of the Year on Friday.
The phrase saw a surge in popularity on social media to describe one of the most chaotic years in recent memory, which featured a bitterly contested US election, a stunning Brexit vote, and numerous high-profile deaths.

Politics / What A Mother Told Her Son A Day Before His Wedding To Keep Marriage Safe by pleadge(m): 6:31am On Jan 25, 2017
WHAT A MOTHER TOLD HER SON A DAY BEFORE HIS WEDDING TO KEEP MARRIAGE SAFE IN PEACE MODE
with your father.

We were screaming, Tempers were high. I was angry and He was angry. Then I called him an idiot! He was shocked,

He looked at me asking
how dare I call him that, Immediately started calling him idiot, fool, stupid, crazy, I called him all sort of name.

Guess what he did? He didn’t raise his hands to hit me. He just walked away, banging the door as he went out.

My Son, If your father had hit me and destroyed my eyes, how will you feel sitting here with me today? How will you regard him as your father?

Would you have been proud of him or would
you be blaming me for calling him names?

Never hit your wife! No matter the provocation
just walk away and things will be normal.

Whenever she offends you, think of this story I
just told you, it could have been your mum!

After he left, I was filled with guilt. We slept on same bed that night and I went to him the next day.

I pleaded with him, I did all I could to show am sorry and he forgave me. That day I cooked his favourite food, yes you know he loves Pounded yam & Vegetable soup right?

After that day, I never called him names, my respect for him was ten times stronger.

There is something very important you must always do, my son listen very carefully, defend your wife. When she is under pressure, stand by her. If your friends hates her, it is your duty to make them see her as a Queen. Your Uncle, I mean Uncle Yusuf, never liked me.

But Ur father was always supportive until his perception changed.

There was a day your Father was going to host the owner of his company and friends. They were three of them.

That day I was in the
kitchen cooking for them and your father went to buy drinks.

When the table was set and food was served.

Everyone started eating. Then I
remembered I did not add salt in the food. I
was embarrassed.

Your father tasted the food and looked at me. He immediately turned to the guests. He told them that he instructed his wife last month not to add salt whenever she is cooking because of some problem with his body.

He said it in a funny way and everyone laughed!

The guests understood and he asked me to
bring salt and everyone added according to their taste. He managed to eat the food without salt.

After the guest left, he went on his knees and
asked God to forgive him for lying.

Your wife is like a baby, sometimes she don’t
know what to say or do. Stand up and speak for her!

Now let me talk to you about S*x. You see S*x
is a wonderful thing.

Do not be surprised if your wife enjoy and need S*x more than you do.

There were days, I needed Sex more than your father and there were days he needed it more than me but the important thing is to always try to satisfy the other when they need you.

Don’t always think of your self.

There was a time things were hard and I
needed to do two jobs to support your father.
One night I was so tired. When I got to bed he was in the mood. He try to make love to me and I didn’t refuse him. I was tired but I felt I needed to be there when he needs me.

When he tried undressing me, he saw my look and he stopped. He asked what was wrong and I said nothing. But he understand me better.
He stopped and then started telling me stories until I fell asleep.

My son, S*x is best enjoyed when the two
parties are physically and mentally ready for it.

Sometimes, read your wife and understand her.

Make it a habit to go anywhere with your wife. Beside your job, move around with her.

If anyone invite you to his house and told you not to come with your wife then be very careful.
Use wisdom.

I know you love mummy… I know you will tell me all your problems. But now things will be different.

Let your wife be the first to know before me. Let her be the first to see before me.

When you have problems with her don’t run to me immediately.

Wait for a day to pass and then talk to her about it. Pray about it.

Report her to nobody but talk issues out within yourself.

Finally, don’t forget to come and visit me with
your wife every month!

I know you will have a happy home.

You will always be mummy’s boy.

God will bless Ur
home.

Pls don't forget God, pray & seek His
assistance always..

Foreign Affairs / Trump To Advance Keystone, Dakota Pipelines: Administration Official by pleadge(m): 6:47pm On Jan 24, 2017
U.S. President Donald Trump will sign two executive actions on Tuesday to advance construction of the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines, an administration
official said, rolling back key Obama administration environmental policies in favor of expanding energy infrastructure.

The orders would be a bitter defeat for Native American tribes affected by the $3.8 billion Dakota Access line as well as climate activists after months of protests successfully delayed the Dakota project.

Energy Transfer Partners shares rose 2 percent in U.S. trading to $36.45 a share. Oil producers in North Dakota's Bakken region would likely benefit from transporting oil to the U.S. Gulf Coast through the 1,172-mile (1,885 km) pipeline.

The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, whose reservation is adjacent to the proposed Dakota pipeline, won a key victory when the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in early December turned down ETP's request for an easement to tunnel under the nearby Missouri River.

Most of the pipeline was complete by the summer of 2016, except for a small section under Lake Oahe, a reservoir that forms part of the river.

The Army later said it would begin an environmental assessment that could delay the project further. It was not clear if Trump's expected order on Tuesday would supercede that move.

Standing Rock officials were not immediately available for comment.

Trump on Monday met with leaders of labor unions, including the Building and Construction trades group and the Laborers International Union of North America, who have been vocal supporters of both pipeline projects.

Both groups had endorsed Trump rival Hillary Clinton in the 2016 U.S. election, but disagreed with her opposition to the Keystone pipeline.

Former President Barack Obama rejected Transcanada Corp's Keystone XL oil pipeline, which would bring Canadian crude from Alberta into the U.S. Gulf, in 2015 after environmentalists campaigned against the project for more than seven years. Transcanada declined to comment.

TransCanada shares rose 1.1 percent to hit their highest since September, but pared gains to last trade up 0.8 percent at C$63.30 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

Trump's action, which comes in his fourth full day in office, would benefit producers concerned about limited pipeline capacity bringing oil to market from both North Dakota and Canada.

U.S. oil production boomed in recent years and has resulted in fewer foreign imports of crude oil.

Foreign Affairs / Trump, In Oval Office, Signs First Order On Obamacare by pleadge(m): 2:11pm On Jan 21, 2017
President Donald Trump directed government agencies on Friday to freeze regulations and take steps to weaken Obamacare, using his first hours in the White House to make
good on a campaign promise to start dismantling his predecessor's healthcare law.

Heading into the Oval Office shortly after the conclusion of his inaugural parade, Trump signed an order on the Affordable Care Act that urged government departments to "waive, defer, grant exemptions from, or delay the implementation" of provisions that imposed fiscal burdens on states, companies or individuals.

It also called for efforts to give states greater flexibility in implementing healthcare programs while developing "a free and open market in interstate commerce for the offering of healthcare services and health insurance."

Health experts had speculated that Trump could expand exemptions from the so-called individual mandate, which requires Americans to carry insurance or face a penalty, or the requirement that employers offer coverage.

Experts also believe the administration could try to reduce the “essential benefits,” such as maternity care and mental health services, that insurance plans must cover.

The White House did not provide further details about the executive order.

Trump's spokesman Sean Spicer said the White House also directed an immediate regulatory freeze for all government agencies in a memo from Trump's chief of staff, Reince Priebus. He did not offer details.

Repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act, one of former President Barack Obama's signature laws, was a central pledge for Trump during the presidential election campaign. Republicans in the U.S. Congress have not yet laid out a plan to recast the insurance program.

In a hastily arranged ceremony, surrounded by some of his aides, Trump sat behind the presidential Resolute Desk and signed the order. He also signed commissions for his newly confirmed defense secretary, James Mattis, and his homeland security secretary, John Kelly.

Trump spoke briefly about his day with reporters. "It was busy, but good. It was a beautiful day," he said.

Vice President Mike Pence then swore in Mattis and Kelly in a separate ceremony.

There were other signs of change in the Oval Office, which Obama vacated on Friday morning. Golden drapes hung where crimson ones had earlier in the day and new furniture dotted the room.

Foreign Affairs / Breaking:ecowas Troops Suspend Gambia Operation... Give Jammeh One More Chance by pleadge(m): 7:34am On Jan 20, 2017
ECOWAS troops halted their march into Gambia Thursday night to give former president Yahya Jammeh, one more last chance to leave Banjul.
Jammeh has up till noon to leave, in the new deadline given by ECOWAS, the West African regional bloc.
If he fails to do so, the troops under Operation Restore Democracy, will continue their march into the capital. There was no resistance by Gambian troops at the border when the West African soldiers entered Thursday.
”Troops in Farafenni refused to fight. They opened border for ECOWAS troops to enter freely. No loss of lives down that end’, a source monitoring the operation said.
Gambia’s new President Adama Barrow took the oath of office on Thursday at Gambia’s embassy in Dakar Senegal, calling for international support from West Africa’s ECOWAS bloc, the African Union and the United Nations.

“This is a day no Gambian will ever forget,” Barrow said after taking the oath, which was administered by the president of Gambia’s bar association.
“Our national flag will now fly high among the most democratic nations of the world.”
The support he canvassed for quickly came in with the United Nations Security Council supporting a resolution backing West Africa’s effort to restore democracy in the small African country.
Thereafter, the regional military force launched an intervention effort.
“We think that up until the last minute there is still a solution through dialogue,” said Marcel de Souza, head of the ECOWAS commission, explaining the decision to suspend the advance to reporters in Dakar late on Thursday.
ECOWAS will send a team led by Guinea’s president, Alpha Conde, and including the presidents of Liberia and Mauritania to Banjul on Friday, de Souza said.
If the mission succeeds, Jammeh will travel to Guinea before choosing a country of exile.
“It’s out of the question that he stays in place. … We propose that he leaves in an honourable manner and with respect,” said de Souza, who added that regional leaders were open to the possibility of an amnesty as part of a deal.
It was unclear what Jammeh’s next move would be. He has so far ignored pressure to step aside and offers of exile.
On Thursday, he still tried to exercise his emasculated power by announcing the dissolution of his cabinet and promised to reconstitute a new one.
In reality, he is now alone, with his government riddled by defections. In the biggest loss yet, Vice President Isatou Njie Saidy, who has held the role since 1997, quit on Wednesday.
Jammeh, in power since a 1994 coup, initially conceded defeat to Barrow following a Dec. 1 election before back-tracking, saying the vote was flawed.
De Souza said a total of 7,000 troops from Senegal, Nigeria, Ghana, Togo and Mali are involved in the operation. Troops had already entered Gambia from the southeast, southwest and north before they were ordered to stop.
The advance will resume at noon (1200 GMT) on Friday if Jammeh still refused to leave, he said. Barrow will return to Gambia once the operation is over.
The U.N. Security Council on Thursday backed ECOWAS’s efforts to ensure Barrow assumes power, and the United States said it supported the intervention.
U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in a statement pledged “his full support for his (Barrow’s) determination, and ECOWAS’s historic decision, with the unanimous backing of the Security Council, to restore the rule of law in The Gambia so as to honour and respect the will of the Gambian people.”
ECOWAS and the African Union previously said they would recognise Barrow from Thursday, and nations including the United Kingdom and France were quick to congratulate him.

Following Barrow’s swearing in, hundreds of Gambians celebrated in the streets of Banjul, the capital, cautiously at first, and then gradually in larger numbers as they realised the security forces looking on were not going to open fire.
Army chief General Ousman Badjie, who had publicly stood by Jammeh, was seen smiling on the streets wading through a mass of jubilant Banjul residents shouting and dancing.
Cars raced up and down the highway lined with iron-roofed shops in the pro-Barrow Serrekunda district of Banjul, with horns honking and people hanging out the windows.
“The dictator is out,” shouted pharmacist Lamine Jao, 30, as others cheered and whistled in agreement. “It’s just a question of time. We’ll soon flush him out. Believe me.”
During the brief inauguration speech, Barrow asserted his new role as commander and chief of Gambia’s armed services, ordering soldiers to stay calm and remain in their barracks. Those who did not would be considered rebels, he said.
In a statement released late on Thursday, Jammeh announced he was dissolving his government – a 19-member Cabinet, half of whose members had already resigned – and pledged to name a new one “in due course.”
Fearing unrest, thousands of Gambians have fled in recent weeks, the United Nations estimates.
Tour companies, meanwhile, have rushed to evacuate hundreds of European tourists.
Gambia’s long, sandy beaches have made it a prime destination for tourists, but Jammeh, who once vowed to rule for “a billion years,” has earned a reputation for rights abuses and stifling dissent.

I will cover all three pros and cons, so you can make the best decision when it comes Blogger vs. WordPress as a platform for your site.

Note: this comparison is between self-hosted WordPress.org, Blogger.com and

1. Ownership

Blogger is a blogging service provided by the tech giant Google. It is free, reliable most of the time, and quite enough to publish your stuff on the web. However, it is not owned by you. Google runs this service and has the right to shut it down, or shutdown your access to it at any time.

WordPress.org, you use a WordPress hosting provider to host your own site. You are free to decide how long you want to run it and when you want to shut it down. You own all your data, and you control what information you share with any third party.

is a blogging service provided by . It is not free, you pay for hosting services as follows :

1.Free Package: You cannot run ad and make money with it unlike Blogger, blog spot that allow you to place advert and make money with it, but .com places paid ad on your articles as the cost of hosting this free package for you.

2. Personal Package: As at the time of writing this article this package cost 2.99 dollars/month

3. Premium Package: As at the time of writing this article this package cost 8.25 dollars/month

4. Business Package : As at the time of writing this article this package cost 25.92dollars/month.

But you own all your datas

See: How to Start a Blog with Blogger (Step by Step)

2. Control

Blogger: has enough gadget that allows you to the free native template to look like a standard website if you have basic HTML, CSS, JQUERY AND JSCRPT knowledge and your changes are save as long as you leave them untouched.

WordPress.org is an open source software, so you can easily extend it to add new features but any update in the original source of your template override any changes you have made . There are thousands of WordPress plugins allowing you to modify and extend the default feature set such as adding a store to your website, creating portfolio, etc.

: in this case its almost the same as the wordpress.org

3. Appearance
Blogger by default only provides a limited set of templates to use. You can modify the colors and layout of these templates using the built-in tools and even add some cool set of codes to create your own layout, you can even down and upload more beautiful templates if you wish contact me on this here.

WordPress.org: There are thousands of free and premium WordPress themes which allow you to create professional looking websites. There is a WordPress theme for just about every kind of website. No matter what your site is about, you will find plenty of high quality themes which are easy to modify and customize, but they not free, you will pay to have their complete features to work , except for the native WordPress theme that come with your account.

: here your package determine the theme you have access to, you know what that means

4.Portability

Blogger: Moving your site from Blogger to a different platform is easy if you follow the instruction at the above link.

See How to import plog post from one blogger blog to another url
How to merge two blogger blogs to one url

WordPress.org: you can move your site anywhere you want. You can move your WordPress site to a new host, change domain name, or even move your site to other content management systems.

WordPress.org: you cannot move your site any where

5.Security

Blogger : you have the added advantage of Google’s robust secure platform. You don’t need to worry about managing your server’s resources, securing your blog, or creating backups.

WordPress.org: is not secure, since it is a self hosted solution you are responsible for security and backups. I lost two of my websites to spammers when i started blogging initially but if you are ready to pay there are plenty of WordPress plugins that make it easier for you to secure your site.

: it is quite secure since its a pay service

6.Support

Blogger : There is good support available from google and a user’s forum. In terms of support.

WordPress.org: has a support community system. There is online documentation, community forums, and IRC chatrooms where you can get help from experienced WordPress users and developers. Apart from community support, there are many companies offering premium support for WordPress.

: has a support service also https://en.support.

7.Traffic and File Hosting

Blogger : There is unlimited file upload and traffic support

WordPress.org: Volume of file upload and traffic is limited to the amount of web disc space you can pay for (dictated by your site host company)

: Volume of file upload and traffic is limited to the amount of web disc space you can pay for (dictated by your hosting package)

8.Future

Blogger: Make update frequently, blogger even made interface update early November 2016 . but note that the future of Blogger depends on Google, and they have the right to shut it down whenever they want, this is why you should always use a custom domain, so that if any thing happen you can move your domain to other hosting companies and your site will still be on the internet, but if you are the type that is relying on the , once any thing negative happened you lose your blog.

WordPress.org: is an Open Source software which means its future is not dependent on one company or individual (Check out the history of WordPress).

It is developed by a community of developers and users. Being world’s most popular content management system, thousands of businesses around the globe depend on it.

: same as in Blogger

I hope this comparison helped you understand the pros and cons of each to help you make the right decision for your business.

If there is any thing i have left out, please hala me at the comment section

Politics / Powerful 20 Self Development Tips For 2017 by pleadge(m): 8:52am On Jan 04, 2017
1. Make friends with successful people and occasionally buy them gift and surprise them with lunch because successful people always give and hardly get, so when you
give them, they value the gift a lot.

2. Get a mentor and follow his instructions and respect the relationship. Never beg your mentor for money or disrespect his or her privacy.

3. Make new positive friends as often as possible and ensure you keep the communication line open. Create a network of friends and not just connections.

4. Show kindness to everyone. Some small boys today will be big boys tomorrow. The biggest dog in the neighborhood was once a puppy. And keep the information/secret to yourself.

5. Always plan ahead and be proactive. He that plans the future work less in the future.

6. Listen to speeches and messages from great teachers. Both religious and educational.

7. Attend seminars and training on any area you need to improve yourself. Train the trainer, personal development, public speaking, sales etc.

8. Have the habit of keeping a pen and a writing pad handy because ideas come in the form of flashes. The smallest pen is bigger and better than the biggest brain.

9. Make sure at every point in time you are reading a book. If you spend 20 minutes reading daily, for 52 weeks you would have consumed 1,000,000 words.

10. Stay away from television as much as possible. You can watch educational channels. Men with big TV sit in front of them to watch men with big library.

11. Put control over your mouth, never say evil of any man, what you are not certain of should not be said. Say good of all men.

12. Always show appreciation for any good deed you received.

13. Always help someone in need.

14. Live a debt free life. What you can’t pay cash for is not your size.

15. Create legitimate multiple source of income.

16. Save at least 10 percent of your income.

17. Invest a portion of your income. And be patient to see it grow. If what you have in your hands is not good to be called a harvest then it’s a seed, sow it.

18. Keep getting better on your daily goals and dream, develop yourself on them and make sure you get to the top 10 % of your industry.

19. Make sure you engage in exercise. It keeps your brain alert and your body fit to enjoy your success.

20. Pray often, and know that for every success,God made it possible.

If you have not given your life to Christ do that as Soon as possible and you will never regret it.

Wishing you the very best. Happy New Year!!!

Foreign Affairs / UPDATE: Gambia Election Agency Chairman On The Run by pleadge(m): 3:55pm On Jan 03, 2017
The man said he has declared election results and President Jammeh has been defeated so he can't be part of any other secret arrangement to do otherwise. Talk of integrity!

The Chairman of the Gambian Electoral Commission has fled the country following threats to his life, his nephew said on Tuesday.

Alieu Momar Njai had declared Adama Barrow winner of the December 1 presidential election, but President Yahya Jammeh has refused to relinquish power.

Modou Njai told journalists that his uncle, the chairman, had left the country because of the threats.

“He was not willing to leave but the family had to put pressure on him. I understand he is currently outside Gambia,’’ he said.
http://www.solenzoblog.com.ng/2017/01/update-gambia-election-agency-chairman.html

Security agents earlier occupied office of the electoral commission, denying staff access for weeks.

Mr. Barrow said on Monday that he would take power on Jan. 19 as mandated by the constitution, in spite of President Jammeh’s secret moves, including a court process.

After over two decades in power, 51yrs old Jammeh lost the election to Barrow, the people's choice.

Education / Major Analytes In Limestone Purity Test by pleadge(m): 11:17am On Nov 04, 2016
Limestone is a sedimentary rock, composed mainly of skeletal fragments of marine organisms such as coral, forams and molluscs. Its major materials are the minerals calcite and aragonite, which are different crystal forms of calcium carbonate (CaCO3).

Limestone is composed principally of calcium carbonate, which when heated at elevated temperatures decomposes to calcium oxide and carbon dioxide.

The CaCO3 may account for a composition as high as 98.5% or more in limestone, and when broken down, the value of CaO is 55.19%. Limestone, an impure form of calcium carbonate contains other constituents as impurities in addition to the carbon dioxide present. These are the calcium and magnesium silicates as well as silicates of iron, alumina, manganese, titanium, sodium and potassium. When the combined value of silicates present is high, the CaO value is correspondingly reduced.
On the other hand, limestone may become dolomitic, that is, in addition to CaCO3 present; there exists also a large concentration of MgCO3 in the form of CaCO3. MgCO3 in which case the MgO is very large and may reach up to 21% plus. However, the CaO content is much reduced compared to the concentration in a principally CaCO3 limestone https://insidechemistry..com.ng/2016/11/major-analytes-in-limestone-purity-test.html

Webmasters / How To Merge Two Blogger Blogs To One Url by pleadge(m): 7:18am On Nov 04, 2016
The question that comes to mind on this issue
How do i merge two blog?
What will happen to my old blog?

will there be dplicate content issuse?
What should i do before and after merged blogs together?

the old blog has some descent content.

You have to do many steps. Actually, I am telling you the way by which you can delete your one blog and the post of that blog will be moved to the second blog. This can be done by backing up and importing of the blog contents

Method of Merging two Blogs:

Let's take your first blog (which you want to merge with other) as 'a' and your second blog (in which you want 'a' merged) as 'b'.

Steps are following:

Go to 'a' Blog Blogger Dashboard > Settings > Other

Look for the 'Blog tools' import and backup under it, find 'backup blog' content.
Click on it and then, click on 'Download blog' button and now, Link: http://www.solenzoblog.com.ng/2016/11/how-to-merge-two-blogger-blogs-to-one.html

Nairaland / General / Bad Habits You Must Eliminate From Your Daily Routine by pleadge(m): 4:10pm On Nov 02, 2016
You are the sum of your habits. When you allow bad habits to take over, they dramatically impede your path to success. The challenge is bad habits are insidious,
creeping up on you slowly until you don’t even notice the damage they’re causing.

“Chains of habit are too light to be felt until they are too heavy to be broken.” – Warren Buffett

Breaking bad habits requires self-control—and lots of it. Research indicates that it’s worth the effort, as self-control has huge implications for success.

University of Pennsylvania psychologists Angela Duckworth and Martin Seligman conducted a study where they measured college students’ IQ scores and levels of self-control upon entering university. Four years later, they looked at the students’ grade point averages (GPA) and found that self-control was twice as important as IQ in earning a high GPA.

The self-control required to develop good habits (and stop bad ones) also serves as the foundation for a strong work ethic and high productivity. Self-control is like a muscle—to build it up you need to exercise it. Practice flexing your self-control muscle by breaking the following bad habits:

Using your phone, tablet, or computer in bed. This is a big one that most people don't even realize harms their sleep and productivity. Short-wavelength blue light plays an important role in your mood, energy level, and sleep quality. In the morning, sunlight contains high concentrations of this blue light. When your eyes are exposed to it directly, the blue light halts production of the sleep-inducing hormone melatonin and makes you feel more alert. In the afternoon, the sun's rays lose their blue light, which allows your body to produce melatonin and start making you sleepy. By the evening, your brain doesn’t expect any blue light exposure and is very sensitive to it.

Most of our favorite evening devices—laptops, tablets, and mobile phones—emit short-wavelength blue light brightly and right in your face. This exposure impairs melatonin production and interferes with your ability to fall asleep as well as with the quality of your sleep once you do nod off. As we’ve all experienced, a poor night’s sleep has disastrous effects. The best thing you can do is to avoid these devices after dinner (television is OK for most people as long as they sit far enough away from the set).

Impulsively surfing the Internet. It takes you 15 consecutive minutes of focus before you can fully engage in a task. Once you do, you fall into a euphoric state of increased productivity called flow. Research shows that people in a flow state are five times more productive than they otherwise would be. When you click out of your work because you get an itch to check the news, Facebook, a sport’s score, or what have you, this pulls you out of flow. This means you have to go through another 15 minutes of continuous focus to reenter the flow state. Click in and out of your work enough times, and you can go through an entire day without experiencing flow.

Checking your phone during a conversation. Nothing turns people off like a mid-conversation text message or even a quick glance at your phone. When you commit to a conversation, focus all your energy on the conversation. You will find that conversations are more enjoyable and effective when you immerse yourself in them.

Education / Insight Of Glass Blooming Or Weatherization by pleadge(m): 7:37am On Oct 31, 2016
Weatherization of Glass (Bloom)
The term weatherization (or “bloom”) refers to a milky, hazy or crystalline (snowflake) residue on the inside of soda-lime glass. Although at worst an
aesthetic issue, the phenomenon is often a concern for customers. As a result, Qorpak Salespersons must be ready and able to address specific customer concerns regarding this problem. Specifically, Salespersons must be aware of the chemical processes involved in the formation of weatherization, as well as the environmental conditions in which it is most likely to occur. Fortunately, the effect of weatherization is often minimal upon the overall quality of the glass, (although certain issues may arise regarding the pH levels of the content of the containers, depending upon specific chemical formulas). Since weatherization is often easily treated, a thorough understanding of the cause of weatherization will allow salespersons to address customer concerns in an effective manner. Ideally, customers should be made aware of this phenomenon, its causes, as well as treatment methods prior to purchase so as to avoid issues at a later date.
Chemical Components of Weatherization
Weatherization is essentially the formation of carbonate crystals on the surface of the glass. These carbonate crystals are most often Sodium Carbonate (Na2CO3), but can also be composed of Calcium Carbonate (CaCO3).
The amounts of Sodium and Calcium Carbonate in soda-lime glass vary greatly, but Sodium Carbonate is always in greater abundance and disassociates more easily. This results in a greater proportion of Sodium Carbonate in the bloom.
Soda-lime glass is considerably hygroscopic (water-loving). Water can easily form and accumulate on the glass surface (particularly the inside surface), then be absorbed and remove large quantities of Na+and Ca2+ ions. These ions easily reform and collect as carbonate crystals on the surface of the glass as the water is evaporated in the presence of carbon dioxide (CO2)
The quantities of Sodium Carbonate and Calcium Carbonate build-up on the surface of the glass are relatively small considering the appearance they leave. Both have a strong tendency to “disappear” when the glass is filled. It may be that the carbonate crystals actually dissolve or that they remain but are not be visible due to their contact with the liquid. Sodium Carbonate, in particular is very water-soluble, and thus aqueous (water based) solutions added to the glass will easily dissolve this carbonate residue.
It is important to note that even before bloom is visible, there may be very small quantities of surface carbonate present.

Environmental Causes
Humid conditions and changes in relative humidity and temperature affect the amount of atmospheric moisture that the glass is exposed to during storage and shipment.
Changes in these conditions also affect the “cycling” of condensation and evaporation. For example, ocean-bound freight has a tendency to be exposed to more humid conditions, both local (actual storage conditions) and atmospheric. For this reason, glass exposed to these conditions may develop bloom more quickly. It does not, however, have anything to do with the “salt in the air” or salt water conditions.
The shape of the glass itself may also affect this process.
The size of the opening and the ratio of the inside surface to the opening help determine how much air exchange occurs. Packaging influences the evaporation / condensation cycle as well by limiting air exchange and holding in moisture.

Further Considerations
There is no guarantee as to when weatherization will occur, and likewise there is no true “bloom-free” period for glass. Depending on these conditions, and on the actual carbonate content of the glass, weatherization can develop over a very short period of time or may not be visually noticeable for years. It is important to note, though, that under controlled storage conditions, glass used as soon as possible after manufacture is less prone to the appearance of bloom.

Effects of Weatherization
There is a general consensus that surface presence of these carbonate crystals will not affect the vast majority of products.
However, it is possible that the release of Sodium Carbonate crystals into certain solutions could increase the alkalinity, and therefore has the potential to raise the pH of the contents of the container.
Although the vast majority of products should be unaffected by exposure to weatherization, historically it is not recommended to pack Gin or Ammonia products in glass containing bloom.
It is each customers’ responsibility to consider the potential of the finished product exposure to determine the effect (if any) on their product.

Education / Lab Analyst Good Practice: Use & Calibration Of Volumetric Apparatus by pleadge(m): 7:25am On Oct 28, 2016
Volumetric apparatus is essential requirement for quantitative estimations. Accuracy and precision of your results is greatly dependent on correct use and regular calibration of volumetric apparatus.

Types of Glassware
Laboratory glassware is made from borosilicate glassware which is resistant to thermal shock and chemical attack.
Two categories of glassware are commonly used in laboratories:
Type A
Type A glassware is used for work requiring highest accuracy of results. It complies with requirements ASTM E694 standard. The glassware bears the letter A and is calibrated to half the tolerance level of Class B glassware. It come with a calibration certificate bearing a unique serial number for establishing traceability. Type A glassware does not require further calibration.
Type B
Double the tolerance limit of class A glassware. It is used for routine work and requires calibration before putting to use.
Cleaning of Glassware

Volumetric glassware must be washed and dried before use as unclean glassware can introduce contamination errors.
Soak used glassware in water and drain. Clean with a cleaning detergent.
Rinse with dilute potassium dichromate solution in sulphuric acid.
New glassware is slightly alkaline in nature so soak in slightly acidic solution e.g. in 1% HNO_3 or HCl for an hour, then rinse with distilled water
Cleaning machines save time when bulk cleaning is required. They accommodate a wide range of glassware shapes and sizes and permit a range of cycles including washing, rinsing and hot dry air cycles. Suppliers of laboratory glassware washing machine include:
Care in Handling of Volumetric Glassware
When washing take special care so that it does not break on striking wash basin walls
When shaking a volumetric flask, hold both neck and bottom using both hands to prevent breakage
Remove the stopper from volumetric flask before oven drying. Do not raise temperature above 60^0C and cool to room temperature before use.
Calibration of Glassware
Calibration of volumetric apparatus at specified intervals is an important task.
Volume, weight and delivery time at calibration temperature are common parameters for calibrations.
Maintain constant temperature(25 +/- 2^0C) during calibration and use calibrated weights
Read lower level of meniscus for clear liquid readings and upper level for colored solutions readings, keeping your eye level horizontal in line with the liquid level
Calibration of graduated pipette

At time of calibration, ensure no air bubbles are sticking to the glass walls and no water droplets exist above the graduation mark
Weigh a clean dry beaker (W_1)
Deliver water from calibrated mark till it is emptied or in case of graduated pipette till the calibrated mark.
Repeat 3-4 times till consistent reading is obtained for weight (W_2), volume and delivery time.
Volume collected = (W_2 - W_1) / D,
where D is density of water at 25^0C .
