Hello Nairalanders, I really do hope everyone is doing well during these trying times, felt I should show some of my art to help ease tensions a bit and bring to you a different kind of experience. So here’s how it’s going to work, I will give a brief introduction of myself and my work, and then I would post a couple of drawings including commissioned works and progress shots too. I would then post a selected four again but this time I’d leave commentaries below detailing what inspired the drawings and other relevant information so you’d get a better understanding of each one. I’d keep it as basic as possible so both enthusiasts and those new to art can soak it all in. Without much further ado let’s get right into it. My name is Paul Mbah; I draw a lot so it just became what I do. I was born in Wales but I grew up across several southern states in Nigeria, I finished from UNN and began almost immediately to feature in Art competitions and exhibitions. My art is mostly abstract figurative (This phrase means the artist communicates ideas using objects and or persons) and are drawn primarily with graphite, charcoal and ink on paper. What do I want to say with my art? There’s no central message because they’re about everyday life, more than anything I just want people to be inspired by them. Happy viewing The first one, A Song about Daylight

Good looking pup man. I hope you sell them off soonest. |
Strong eyes need to be kept on Kano |
Can you see the ghost of Jesus Christ in one of the photos? |
She’s just surreal. |
I don’t think one would be allowed to get that close to the president without both the masks and the gloves. |
hernandson:It’s mixed breed bro, it was bred with an Alsatian but it’s traits are weak in the pups. If you can return them and be reimbursed all or part of your money that would be nice. But if not you could either decide to get rid of them (which by this I mean giving them away) or you can decide to raise them. I was in a similar situation years ago, raised mine to an extent and gave them away. Just know that they’re not original Alstatian pups. |
hernandson:I think you were overcharged bro |
@Op, err how much did you buy the mutts for? ![]() |
That nurse must’ve done something. |

A darker background would’ve made the image come off much better, would’ve created an adequate contrast to emphasize the greens and reds of the melons. I think you can improve on how you render an objects interaction with a space with respect to shadows and volume, you tried to render a shadow on the smallest cut part of the melon but it didn’t really click. Don’t think this would pass for a hyperrealistic painting, you have an eye for the big things but not yet for the small things, it’s an impressionistic presentation at best (which I feel was not your end goal), the choice of colors could be better too to personalize the emotional response your audience might give back. What to do from here is that you should look at more paintings, Rembrandt’s and Caravaggio’s still life paintings would be enlightening for you, and practice too. All that being said, from one artist to another, much respect. Stay safe man |
DaVader I’d brace up if I were you. Trust me, you don’t want to know how long most have stayed idle after passing out. Life can get strikingly vicious after service; family members look down on you, you lose a lot of friends and romance options are best thrown out of the window. But I will tell you learn a skill, anything, just get good at something and keep developing it to pass the time, keep applying for positions no matter how many rejection mails you receive, tell people you know who genuinely care about your well being that you’re searching for a job. Everyday your issues will wake you up and taunt your mind restlessly but you have to find a way to keep your head above the water. Wetin dey there be say rain no dey fall on top only one roof, God will see us all through eventually. |
@Op...boy chill. |
