Literature / The Voiceless One by Poetree1x: 7:11am On Apr 11
The voiceless one

The march of relentless soldiers, as if to war, I can hear,
The home of paradise filled with tears.
Cries and wails of the trampled upon,
Yet the march of the relentless one goes on.

Listen to our voices, free us from these chains,
Songs and books written to share our pain.
Our pleas become a melody to the beat of persecution,
"March, March, March on," they say, dancing on.

The rule of law, now impudent and cold,
As the young ones wield guns and swords to their hold.
If we take their loved ones and rob them, maybe we will seem,
Our voicelessness may vanish if we disobey their command.

Oh, what blood fills the street of gold as it turns to sand,
The punishment for fighting back puts fear on man.
The street was filled with silence, placing faith in God,
He saves and delivers those who trust His name.

Arise, my people, let the voiceless one be heard,
In unity, we'll fight, reclaim our rightful bed.
A plea echoes, the mouth does not bite the hand that feeds,
Religion aside, with one strength, let's proceed.

Beneath the shadowed skies, where hope and courage blend,
Our journey continues, and oppression shall not bend.
For in the unity of purpose, a flame forever burns,
A beacon for the voiceless, as a new dawn yearns.

Literature / Don't Be Frightened by Poetree1x: 12:01pm On Dec 14, 2023
Witty dancing under the sun, in dead places,
White wild wind whooshed over our red faces
But we got fatigued due to unending rhythms,
Of joyful living, no frighteness of the near future,
Even on empty bellies, sand covering our dark feet.

By our confidence, we got unexpected mortals rising,
Flushed expressions—magnetted, like a fishing hook
The sicilan army would have our throats with one look
'A patriarch would save us' I thought; my heart beating.

Literature / The Carver's Prayer by Poetree1x: 10:45am On Dec 13, 2023
There was a time when my hands were strong,
unlimited were their movements,
I grasped at life with a fervent knife.

The fingers now are no longer nimble,
the knuckles, bumpy and sore.
Within their bent forms, I recall days of
creation, where wood would be given form.

Within the palm would be cradled a chisel,
a twist of the wrist and an applied force,
the fibres would peacefully and willingly curl,
falling in a productive shower to the floor.

Animal spirit released from the grain,
Aspen, Oak, Butternut, not all, are the same.
For the wood would speak to me,
of what I should carve, it would let me see.

The Winter sings it’s cold shivering song,
time to stay indoors now that Autumn is gone.
Time to open my box of knives,
and, with a stiffness of hands, somehow I feel alive.

With the block beckoning, the fingers begin their dance.
A notch here, a wedge there with always a chance
the wood may split.
A mind of it’s own it has, when intention and
will are given to fate.

It is up to the wood to have the final say,
It is as much the conductor, as I am this day.
What I will carve is never sure,
I meditate in thought, a silent voice ensues,
That which I create, that which is brought forth,
Will, always in the end, endure.

Literature / Hidden Agenda by Poetree1x: 2:05am On Dec 12, 2023
HIDDEN AGENDA

There's more to it than meets the eye,

A purpose that we can't deny.

Beneath the surface, a hidden plan,

A secret scheme, a hidden hand.

Behind every smile, every word,

A motive, a mission, is inferred.

A hidden agenda lies within,

A purpose that's not always seen.

Sometimes it's for good, sometimes for ill,

A hidden agenda can't be still.

It moves and shifts, it's never clear,

A game of chess, a strategy near.

It's the unspoken words that reveal,

The true intent that we conceal.

A hidden agenda can be sly,

It can deceive, it can belie.

It's a double-edged sword we wield,

A weapon that can't be easily healed.

A hidden agenda can be a trap,

A snare that we can't escape from, in a snap.

But it can also be a force for good,

A way to help, a way to understood.

A hidden agenda can be kind,

A secret that can heal the blind.

So be careful with the hidden plan,

For it can lead to either ban or fan.

Choose wisely, and use it well,

For the hidden agenda can cast a spell.

Literature / Dark Yonder by Poetree1x: 7:04am On Dec 11, 2023
Dark yonder

Visible and invisible entities perch the clear skies,
But there are people on earth that can't see it.
For a living, I will head to dark yonder, all for a slit,
From a monster's uncouthness, and my heart; lies.

Determination is key, but I lost it when my world disappeared.
Courage stayed on a large surface, depression seeped in.
I felt I would be the one to triumph with writings, overjoyed.
So did it happen, I heard a voice that cares, I followed in delight.

Literature / A Breach Of Friendship by Poetree1x: 10:51am On Dec 09, 2023
A Breach Of Friendship

‘TIS friendship's test to guard the name
Of him you love from all attack,
As you are to his face, the same
To be when you're behind his back.

Now good old loyal Jimmy Green,
A traitor to you have I been;
As false as Arnold to my trust,
Your name I've trampled in the dust.
Last night I lingered out till two,
And said that I had been with you,
And then straightway my wife began
To prove to me that you're no man.
'What, out again,' said she, 'with Green!
No decent man with him is seen!
No man who valued much his home
With him would ever care to roam,
But for the children, long ago
His own wife would have quit, I know;
His only friends are loafers, who
Don't care what vicious things they do;
He'd steal, he'd lie, he's insincere.'
And all I said was: 'Yes, my dear.'

'Who else was with you, tell me pray?
Come, answer me, and right away!'
And then I muttered, 'Freddie Brown,'
And promptly turned poor Freddie down.
'What, Brown,' she screamed, 'that low-down thing
Who all his life has had his fling!

Literature / Religious Unrest by Poetree1x: 8:58pm On Dec 07, 2023
RELIGIOUS UNREST
The only manifestation of proselytization
In my country are heinous scenes of mass slaughter
Of the innocent in crusades of blood festivals

Where the blood lusting armies
Of Islam and Christianity
Massacre more than the mouth can recount

Religion is now a sable garment
Where political gurus and monks
Manipulate the gullibility of beliefs

Of blind fanatism
Of robotic remote incensing

Religion, the Pinnacle of self-styled peace
That does not permit the land a days sleep
Sharpening bigotry, prejudice and anarchy

Oh, behold the ethnic war lords!
Armed with flaming blades of deceitful Faith
The cudgels of blind belief systems
To promote selfish personal interest

And bludgeoning unity into discord
In charred dwelling places and cities
Burning bethels of worship
Roasting bowels of a weeping nation

From Jos to Kaduna, Lagos to Aba
There are no holy sanctuaries
As every infidel blood delight the Sabre
Wielded by bloody hands of religious calvaries.

Literature / The Wail Of A Frustrated Soul: "Oh Mr Doorman, I Knock" by Poetree1x: 7:12am On Dec 06, 2023
THE WAIL OF A FRUSTRATED SOUL: "OH MR DOORMAN, I KNOCK"
Oh Mr Doorman,

Oh ye dreadful
Deliverer and destroyer of souls,
Ye wandereth to and fro
Without leaving your post.

Ye are everywhere,
But nowhere
Near those who need
Freedom for their souls.

Constantly opening the doors
Of Life and Death
To those who seek it not,
Ignoring those who beckon your service.

Oh Mr Doorman,
Men wail at the sound of thy name.
For fear of thy profane power,
They dubbed thee insane.

I knock; oh Mr Doorman,
Seeking the peace at the other side.
Open up at thy own accord
For I fear I might break the door
And end up at the wrong side.
Take me where peace lies
For my soul lusteth release".

Every opportunity we crave,

Every name you'll want to make,

Tis' wrapped in risks we take,

Real choices, not fake.

Whether it be on stage,

Whether a chance for fame,

When chances come your way,

In gold, please sign your name.

In all these, silence is golden.

Your world watching you your unfolding,

Whilst they think, it's not worth seeing,

Let excellence Keep em wondering.

So push! Stretch! Get to work!

Do your lot, and less of talk.

Coz' someday when it's your turn,

We'll be there to watch you burn.

Literature / Storm by Poetree1x: 9:40pm On Nov 23, 2023
Storm

Down the asphalt road,
A weary traveller travels forth,
The air grews cold,
Nimbostratus clouds painted the sky black.

A swoosh of wind carried the dead leaves away,
Distant roars of thunder,
Lightning etched the heavens,
Sounds of rumbling raindrops drew close.

Flee! Flee!
Oh thou art but wanting,
The cold touch of the pouring drizzle,
Alas! Thou art shivering cold.

Literature / Love by Poetree1x: 9:33pm On Nov 23, 2023
LOVE

Love
The flavour of life is love
When love dies
Life becomes odourless
When love fades
Life becomes colourless
Men begin to live with the heaviness of heart
Human gets detestable.

Love
The salt of life is love
When love is absent
Life becomes tasteless
When love goes into extinction
Life becomes dull
Men begin to live in woe
Human gets irritable.

Love
The light of life is love
If love perishes
Life becomes gloomy
When love vanishes
Life becomes blurry
Men begin to walk in confusion
Human lives in darkness
Darkness of heart and mind.

Love
When there is love
There is light
Where there is love
Light shines brightly
Where there is love
Life gives its best
Its best in everything
When there is love
Light shines in the heart of men
And Human becomes lovable.

ABOVE ALL TROUBLE

Our sad times

When our Joy dies

And happiness flies

Our thought travels in miles

Thinking if we'll ever leave our plight

And take back our victory smile

Our broken moments

When our soul is in torments

Like our mind isn't honest

Making us feel less of our talents

Making us doubt the power of our greatness

And the certainity of our mindset

Emotions plays to make us High

Blames us to make us cry

Dribbles us to make us blind

Blind from every vision that we'll rise

And possibility that we'll be fine

Day by day, when we move and tackle

We'll survive our mind's battle

And emotional struggle

This isn't a myth or fable

Joy will set in, such that we can't handle

And our head is raised above all trouble

Literature / Sound Of Birds by Poetree1x: 11:43am On Nov 22, 2023
Sounds of bird

An African woman, a tapestry divine,
Resplendent as the sun in her design,
Her voice, a chorus from the Serengeti's heart,
Echoes wisdom, tales of a world apart.

Her voice, a symphony in the air,
Resonates like a bird's sweet care,
Each word a note, melodious and clear,
Sung softly, like a bird drawing near.

With every phrase, a song takes flight,
Notes that soar in the day's pure light,
A cadence gentle, a rhythm true,
As if a bird in the morning dew.

Soft whispers carry a nightingale's tune,
In her secrets shared beneath the moon,
Each syllable, a songbird's delight,
Her voice, a choir in the quiet of night.

Like birdsong floating on the breeze,
Her voice, a melody that easily appease,
In her cadence, I find solace and mirth,
A voice akin to the sweetest bird on earth
