A 27-year-old Suya Seller, Halilu Abdullahi pleaded guilty before an Ebutte Metta Magistrate Court for attempting to slit the throat of a 4-year-old girl.

The accused it was gathered lured the victim with biscuit to a serene area before attempting to carry out the act.

Abdulahi pleaded guilty to the  two charges of attempted murder and unlawful assault.

According to the Prosecutor, Sgt. Hafsat Ajibode, the accused committed the offences on August 18 at 5.35 p.m. at No. 1, Denton Street Ebute Meta.

She said the accused lured the four-year-old girl, with biscuit while she was playing with her peers and had attempted to slit her throat with a knife.

“The accused had fled with the child to Whitesands area in Oyingbo market where he attempted to cut her throat with a knife.

“A passerby, Muritala Mahmud, who heard the screaming of the minor, rushed to save her, and in the process got his left hand bitten by the accused while trying to escape,” she said.

The presiding Magistrate, A.O Ajibade has fixed September 11 for facts and sentence.

The offences contravenes Sections 173 and 230 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (revised).

Magistrate B. O Osusanmi of an Ikeja magistrate Court, Lagos today sentenced two herdsmen to 5 years in prison for stealing twelve cows valued at N4, 200, 000 belonging to one Alhaji Abba kaur.

The herdsmen identified as Sanda Ali, 32, and Dere Mohammed, 21, were arraigned on a two count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

Magistrate Osusanmi convicted the duo after the pleaded guilty to the offence.

Delivering her judgement, Osusanmi said, "the defendants are hereby sentenced to 2years on count one and 3years on count two".

"The terms are without an option of fine and are to run concurrently," she ordered.

However, the police prosecutor, Inspector Simon Imhonwa told the court that the incidence occurred on April 10 at Epe Lagos.

Imhonwa said that the convicts, and others still at large, did steal twelve (12) cows valued at N 4.2m belonging to the complaint.

He said that "the complaint, who hails from Borno State, reported that the convicts, alongside six others, conspired and stole his cows from his grazing location at Shagamu area of Ogun State.

"The Alhaji handed over 32 cows to the first defendant, Ali to look after while they graze.

"But instead of watching after the cows, Ali conspired with other herdsmen to sell the cows and share the money.

"The herdsmen succeeded in selling 12cows out of the 32 to their fellow counterpart.

"Ali, thereafter, ran away after the sale to Niger State to hide. But was arrested after the owner reported the matter to the police.

"During interrogation, Ali confessed to the crime and also listed the names of his accomplice, including the buyers who bought the cows", he said.

Meanwhile, in their plea for mercy, the convicts, who could neither speak nor understand English language, begged the court to pardon them.

Speaking in Hausa language and interpreted in English, Ali told the court that he was a family man who has three children to cater for.

Ali said, " please have mercy on us! We sold the cows to raise money for family needs.

"The police collected money from the others I shared the money with and freed them. Each of them paid N300, 000 to the police and were set free.

" the police also arrested those that bought the cows and ordered them to return the cows. They were also forced to pay an amount higher than the cost of the cows.

"I was arrested and detained, alongside my friend, because we couldn't meet up with their demands.

Evans was arraigned alongside Uche Amadi, Ogechi Uchechukwu, Okwuchukwu Nwachukwu, Chilaka Ifeanyi and Victor Aduba who are also members of Evans syndicate.

Evans, Amadi and Nwachukwu pleaded guilty to both charges while Uchechukwu, the 3rd and only female defendant, Ifeanyi and Aduba pleaded not guilty.

The prosecution said that the defendants between Feb. 14 and April 12, along Obokun Str., Ilupeju Lagos, while armed with guns and other dangerous weapons, captured and detained Mr Duru Donatus.

Kazeem said that the defendants collected a ransom of 223,000 euros for the release of Donatus.
After the charges were read, Kareem requested for the remand of the defendants.

Mulryne was a product of the Manchester United youth academy and made his debut for Sir Alex Ferguson’s in 1997.

- The minister of health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, said it was not a fire outbreak but just an electrical spark on the corridors of the third floor

Reports reaching out has it that the federal secretariat building in Abuja is currently on fire. The building housing the Federal Ministry of Health is the one caught in the blaze, according to a witness at the scene, Premium Times reports. He also said fire fighters are at the Reacting to the report, the minister of health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, said there was no fire outbreak in the health ministry, but just a spark on the corridors of the third floor. He said it has been put off and no part of the ministry was affected, The Punch reports.
Adewole said: “The report is false, there was just a spark in the corridors of the third floor and it has been put off. It was just an electrical spark that has been put off. No part of the ministry has been affected. No office was affected." The fire started in the early hours of Saturday This comes a week after the House on the Rock church in Abuja caught fire in the afternoon of Sunday June 25.
