Many have been feared dead as some suspected Fulani herdsmen allegedly attacked Atakwu village in Nkanu wes LGA of Enugu state. The herdsmen reportedly opened fire in the community killing a seminaria and some others. Investigation into the attack is still ongoing. The attack reportedly took place on Thursday morning, August 25,2016. the attackers are said to have killed a seminarian of the Catholic Church and several others. The Fulani herdsmen absconded after their murderous act in the community The Nkanu west community is now in disarray as the chairman of the local government Hon. Afam Okereke i making sure that the herdsmen are traced and caught. The cause of the attack is not substantiated at the time of this report. But those who spoke to The Republican News reporter claimed tha there was no provocation at all sinc most folks were still asleep at the time of the surprise attacks.

The embattled factional Chairman of
the Peoples Democratic Party, Senato
Ali Modu Sheriff, has accused the
government of Governor Kashim
Shettima of creating and funding Bok
Haram.
Sheriff made the allegation while
reacting to a call for his arrest
and prosecution for creating the
violent Islamist insurgent group by
the Borno State Attorney General and
Commissioner of Justice, Mr. Kaka
Lawal.
Lawal, had on Tuesday, in Port
Harcourt at the ongoing 56th Annual
Conference of the Nigerian Bar
Association, NBA, said the insecurit
created by Sheriff during his years
as governor of the state
metamorphosed into Boko Haram
However, Sheriff, in his reaction
through his Special Adviser on Media
Inuwa Bwala, said Lawal was not
being sincere and only acting a
script written by Governor Shettima.
While advising the Attorney General
of the state to look inwards so he
could know those behind the Boko
Haram menace in the state, Sheriff
said: “The commissioner is talking
rubbish. He’s acting the script of
his governor. Sheriff made the
governor what he is today.
“Those who are making the allegation
should know that three of his
(Sheriff) brothers were killed by
Boko Haram, his family is being
threatened by the Boko Haram.
“The AGF’s predecessor died in
circumstances not clear. What killed
him and who killed him? The people
are suspecting who is behind the
killing. I pity him, he doesn’t kno
what he is talking about. He is
serving in a government that created
and funded Boko Haram”, Sheriff
alleged.

Zamfara
following a religious crisis that
broke out
at the Abdu Gusau Polytechnic in
Zamfara
state yesterday August 22nd.
A student is alleged to have made a
blasphemous comment about Prophet
Muhammad and was beaten to a pulp.
He was then rescued and rushed to
the hospital
by a man named Tajudeen.
One seeing this the angry Muslims
stormed the home of Tajudeen and set
it ablaze, killing eight occupants.
Buhari condole the family of the
victims and said under his watch
there will be no place for violenc
in disguise of religion or
ethnicity.

Abuja high court re-affirms the sack
of senator Ali-modu Sheriff as the
chairman of the PDP.
Court Re-Affirms Sheriff’s Sack As
PDP National Chairman
A Federal High Court sitting in
Abuja has re-affirmed the sack of
Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff as the
Chairman of the Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP).
The court, presided over by Justice
Nwamaka Ogbonnaya, reaffirmed the
sack on the ground that the judgment
of Justice Valentine Ashi, which
nullified his appointment on June 29
has not been set aside or vacated
and is therefore subsisting.
The court further held that all
actions taken by Sen Sherif are
null, void and of no effect since
the earlier order of Justice Ashi
remains binding
The Court restrained Sen. Sheriff
from further parading himself as the
National Chairman of the PDP.
Justice Ashi had in his judgment
nullified the 2014 PDP Constitution
amendment upon which Senator Sheriff
is said to have been appointed as
PDP Chairman.
The court described the amendment of
the party’s constitution as illegal
and a violation of the Electoral Act
and, therefore, declared all actions
carried out with the document
including anybody parading himself o
herself as officer of the party as
illegal.
The leadership of the party has been
faced with series of court orders
after the controversial Port Harcour
National Convention which gave birth
to the Makarfi-led Caretaker
Committee.
Senator Sheriff had challenged the
legality of the Caretaker Committee,
insisting he is the rightful leader
of the party.
However, the court voided the said
amendment on the basis that there
was no compliance with mandatory
provisions of Article 66 (2) and (3
of the PDP constitution.
“By reason of the above, the
purported amendments introduced to
the constitution on the aforesaid
dates, are hereby set-aside.
“All persons, individuals, servants
or agents of PDP parading themselves
as national officers of the PDP
pursuant to the purported amendment
which has now been nullified are
hereby restrained from further
parading themselves in these
capacities “, Justice Ashi said

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday
mourned the death of the Director of
Information, State House, Mr. Justin
Onuorah Abuah, who died on Sunday in
Abuja.
A statement issued by his Special
Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi
Adesina, said President Buhari has
sent a condolence message to the
bereaved family.
Abuah, who was born on January 29,
1959, was fondly called O.J, by
friends and associates.
The statement said: “The late Abuah
had a long and rich career at the
Presidency, where he served seven
past Nigerian leaders since 1986
when he joined the State House media
office from the News Agency of
Nigeria (NAN).
“His many colleagues, friends and
admirers will fondly remember him as
the man behind several presidential
statements and speeches and he
demonstrated a rare sense of
calmness and candour in service.
“A native of Asaba, Oshimili South
local government area of Delta
State, O.J is survived by his wife,
Loretta and three children –
Chinedum, Chike and Amaechi.
The statement said Abuah’s burial
arrangements will be announced later
by the family.

A source close to her revealed
everything:
"The woman and Chioma Okoye met
three years ago through a mutual
friend. The woman had been invited
to Chioma Okoye's house for drinks
and after a couple of shots opened
up about the chaos in her marriage.
Exposing how her husband constantly
sexually harasses her under-aged
daughter to the point of getting her
pregnant at some point.
The woman sought Chioma's help as a
entertainer to expose her unrepentan
husband's evil deeds as she was
tired of fighting him over it.
Chioma had advised her to seek help
from Child Protection Services but
that as an entertainer would use her
voice as an artiste to expose the
deed. This happened in 2014. Chioma
had gone ahead to write the story
into her Lagos Men script. Now the
drama series is out and gathering
momentum and that sparked rage from
the woman who had probably moved on.
Hence the attack.
Shortly after the physical attack on
Chioma Okoye, she received a phone
call from a supposed policeman from
Ajah Police Station. On getting to
Ajah Police Station, the Policeman
who identified himself as Officer
Chuks cajoled Chioma to take down
the content of her drama series in
exchange for the sum of N3million.
Chioma has filed a case bothering on
Threat to Life."

PDP chair: Obey elders, step down,
George tells Agbaje
A former Deputy National Chairman of
the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief
Bode George, says he is very
disappointed with the insistence of
the Lagos State governorship
candidate of the PDP in the 2015
election, Jimi Agbaje, not to step
down for him over the national
chairmanship contest of the party.
George, who supported Agbaje during
the governorship election, said he
expected that Agbaje would do the
same for him on his ambition to
become the next chairman of the PDP.
Speaking in an interview with Punch
on Friday, George said
the support he gave to Agbaje during
the governorship election was one of
the causes of the crisis in the
Lagos State chapter of the PDP.
George said, “I am very disappointe
but not angry. Vengeance is not
mine, it is God’s. I want to quote
the book of Ecclesiastics, which
says that there is a season for
everything. Whatever you sow in your
lifetime, you will reap.
“Our Lord Jesus Christ said that on
of his disciples would betray him.
The disciples started looking round.
Judas Iscariot, the traitor, has
been around from time immemorial.
It’s a shame. That is his
(Agbaje’s)
choice. I just pray that God would
continue to direct this country. God
has told us that it is only Him we
can trust, not human beings.”
George added, “Agbaje knows what is
right. My advice is that he should
step down. He should obey his
elders. As a Christian, we should
have the fear of God. If he insists
on contesting, I cannot stop him.
Let the decision be made by the
delegates at the convention.”
Reacting in an interview with our
correspondent on Saturday, Agbaje
said he had great respect for
George.
Agbaje, who spoke through his
spokesperson, Mr. Felix Oboagwina,
said he was not a betrayer as being
claimed, adding that he decided to
contest the election in the national
interest.
He said, “For Jimi Agbaje, the
national chairmanship position was
never his ambition. He never aspired
to it.
