I don't even spend money on my car. Go abroad and see where people spend money on their car. These are just cheap normal maintenance, absolutely nothing out of the ordinary. Over there, people do brake jobs for over $5k, suspension jobs for over $4k, and should the engine or gear kaput, they spend tens of thousands of $$ for a rebuild or replacement. Seriously, we dey enjoy for here
You go engage an engineer for a whole day and still pay him less than 100k

I totally agree with you. I so much wanted the 335i but those cars are just too complex and too needy for naija climate. Went with the volvo s60 R-design, though not as robust as the 335i, it is highly comparable in all ramifications.

Gear is one of the most complex part of most vehicles. The rule of thumb is that once your car has passed 100k miles and above and you haven't changed the tranny oil, just use it like that and drive till the tranny gives way. You can risk it though, and pray your village people are not active

I started servicing my tranny very early (72k miles or so) and I will keep on servicing and it is advisable to keep servicing it at least once every 10k miles.

Kindly note that drain and refill is different from flushing. You can drain and refill old tranny and pray it doesn't result in any issues. If you flush an old tranny, you will most likely land in serious trouble. Also if you underfill it, wahala, if you overfill it, wahala. So if are not ready to go all out, just drive your car like that.

They broke the sad news to me that the two motors on both passenger side and driver side are weak and needs replacement

Couldn't find it at Gudu, next stop is ladipo. If I couldn't find it there, I'll have to go to ebay. For now, they packaged the AC back and manually turned it to driver and passenger side. All vents are passing cooled air, though tiny amount of cooled air still goes to the windscreen. I'll be glad if anyone can point me where I can get these motors here in Nigeria.

Had issue with cooling recently. Only the rear AC vents and the driver left hand vent was cooling. The rest of the cooled air is sent to the windscreen. Took it for repair and I was told that the whole dashboard will be pulled out to get to the servo motor.

Same here, I so much wanted the 335i, but after what I saw with my own eyes with my guy's x5, I said, nope. That car spoilt on nearly every journey, and it is just crossing 50k miles on the odo. The volvo was just the blend of what I wanted, it has even raced the 335i and won several times and also a very good daily driver. For the fact that it is rare, I get to steal the show once in a while and also not thief magnet. I bet the Mazdas are like that too

Also the volvo has lots of German vibes, the brakes, the legs, the fuel tank, the handling

Also , check your Cabin Air filter and Engine Air filter

If your car is AWD from the documentation you’ve done so far would advise you get your differential oil changed or plan on doing so . It usually last 30,000-60,000 miles then needs a change

Then brake fluid lasts 2 years , check that too if possible

Don’t also forget to do a tyre rotation every time you change your oil and filter . Really great for even wear if tires. I always do mine .

Nope, mine is FWD, no need for differential servicing cause it got none. I do tyre rotation often, though this ride is mostly seating in the parking lot. I got a volvo to replace the corolla that made me super insecure. It's really lovely but I don't think I have time to make a thread for it

I bought original mobil 3 years ago.then i felt all oils were original.my engine wey never smoke for 2years started smoking after oil change with the mobil 5w30 i bought directly from mobil filling station.since then i had to be using oil treatment.

So sorry about that. That is the same issue I'm talking about. They are so good in making the fakes that you have no way of knowing which is which unless you bought it directly from reliable source abroad. But pennzoil is very scarce.

Amazing how you maintain your car, I’m a big believer and lover of consistent Car maintenance. Pennzoil is a great oil however I personally use Mobil 1 0w20 Advanced fuel economy and either use a Bosch filter or a Mazda filter , my car is a 2017 Mazda cx-5 lovely drive .

Wanted to get the 2016 Rx350 but was too expensive for me.

That mazda is definitely a smart choice. It is very reliable and at the same time, a bit unique. That is another layer of security. The RX is very expensive and common, hence, it can be prone to theft in different modes.

Back to the oil, Pennzoil is made from natural oil and the reviews are really great. The major issue i have with mobil 1 is that it is too common and fakes are off the roof. Unless you ordered it yourself, don't think you have the original
