of course, there is no car people don't drive in naija, even super cars. However, my point is that these cars are suffering here and there is nothing anyone can do about it. The cars we are talking about here requires premium fuel or premium diesel, using additives at the filling station won't help (the impact of these very low octane fuel on these performance cars are very catastrophic, trust me). We lack good mechanics here, especially when it comes to these special vehicles, and when you get a mechanic that can do the job, it is either he is too swarmed to help, or he has bad ego that you can't deal with. More so, getting genuine parts is a big issue, I know you will say ship it, but how will that scale? Pack the car every time something breaks down? Let me not even go to the part of bad roads and useless commercial drivers that drive like they own the road and won't obey traffic laws.

Buying diesel engine here is a waste of money. It requires longer time to warm up and it only excels in highway drive (who drives highway in this insecure country?) Also carbon buildup will come in handy

It is just not worth it, yes, it will have torque but horsepower will be lacking (see the video below)

It looks really cool and drives even better Sometimes, I think of where to go to, just to drive it, especially with the upgraded infotainmentsystem

Funny enough, it is a better cruiser than my RX, it only lacks ground clearance (its strength and same time, its greatest weakness )

Don't start your first car on such high budget

Go for a well-maintained, Nigerian used, old model like year 2000 model Toyota corolla or Mitsubishi sedan car and invest the difference you save in Treasury bills or shares. Car is a liability so don't rush into it

You will use the more affordable car to acquire experience and maintenance budgeting. You will also learn basics of car and tricks of technicians with such easy to maintain car.

Trust me, you will have scratches more frequently and it will cost less to fix with such car models

@op a 2015 camry or 2015 accord will be just perfect for you and well within your budget and very easy to maintain. If your area doesn't have good roads, you can go for 2013 honda crv, 2015 mazda cx 5, 2015 volvo xc60 t6. These rides you can get as toks for your budget and maintenance won't break you. They all have fairly good tech and safety features that an save your life and relatively harder to steal compared to older models

If you are afraid of crashing the car, take more driving classes in driving school and remember to put L and get learner license. Also buy insurance

Yes, true. @kingreign also told me about it but I thought it was a complex thing to achieve and the car also came with one. Saw the process for my volvo and it was very easy to install it as an extension to already existing one and the user feedback are really great. Will upgrade the two cars next.

I plan to install additional transmission cooler for my ride. It is a very cheap piece but it can extend the life of the transmission by ensuring it runs at cooler temperature range which is usually between 195 degrees Fahrenheit to 210 degrees Fahrenheit.

Since I just recently changed the transmission fluid and the cooler installation requires transmission fluid replacement, I'll wait for another 4k miles before carrying this out.

Toyota WS transmission fluid. Nothing more, nothing less. Getting the right fluid is as important as getting the right level, at the right temperature range.

There's one truth here,and that is, avoid naija used (simply because of the bad maintenance culture and over time effect of bad fuel cause that car requires premium fuel) and sadly, that is what op is considering. I believe it is a good ride, abroad, it has cult followings and massive community, however, one thing is common, they are mostly car enthusiasts.

Here, odds are stacked against you, from fake oils, fake parts, to fake fuel, and bad roads. Do your due diligence and see if it passes. Get what you want, forget about resale value, you are not a car dealer

You might have routed your evap lines wrongly. Find another 2010 rx and look at the evap line routing, especially the lines around the intake. Before changing your purge valve, test it so you don't spend unnecessarily.
BTW, I hope by reserve, you don't mean when the fuel refill amber light comes on, cause if so, keep money aside to be replacing fuel pump. .....Oops, you have already replaced one, many many more to go if you continue like this

Once your tank passes one line below half tank, it is due for a refill, I have never purchased fuel pump after I learnt the truth about driving near empty tank. No gains, only pains, cause you will still fill up the tank

I don't even spend money on my car. Go abroad and see where people spend money on their car. These are just cheap normal maintenance, absolutely nothing out of the ordinary. Over there, people do brake jobs for over $5k, suspension jobs for over $4k, and should the engine or gear kaput, they spend tens of thousands of $$ for a rebuild or replacement. Seriously, we dey enjoy for here
You go engage an engineer for a whole day and still pay him less than 100k

I totally agree with you. I so much wanted the 335i but those cars are just too complex and too needy for naija climate. Went with the volvo s60 R-design, though not as robust as the 335i, it is highly comparable in all ramifications.

Gear is one of the most complex part of most vehicles. The rule of thumb is that once your car has passed 100k miles and above and you haven't changed the tranny oil, just use it like that and drive till the tranny gives way. You can risk it though, and pray your village people are not active

I started servicing my tranny very early (72k miles or so) and I will keep on servicing and it is advisable to keep servicing it at least once every 10k miles.

Kindly note that drain and refill is different from flushing. You can drain and refill old tranny and pray it doesn't result in any issues. If you flush an old tranny, you will most likely land in serious trouble. Also if you underfill it, wahala, if you overfill it, wahala. So if are not ready to go all out, just drive your car like that.
