The bastards don't go about disconnecting power in north except down south

PS: Have lived considerable amount of years in north to know this! So you can argue with your ancestors.
Oga you don't know about eet. NEPA officials in the North will cut your light and pack your wires instantly. They'll fold it and write your house number on it. After you pay naim you go collect am.

Though I am not a supporter of physical assault against IKEDC staff, or anyone whatsoever, but
he who goes to equity goes with clean hands.
It is only when IKEDC stops billing customers for electricity not supplied, and fairness takes over from the brazen daylight robbery that you guys are currently perpetrating, that your staff will be immune from attacks.

I don't support physical assault on their workers. After all, they are some people's husbands, fathers, son, or even breadwinner of their family.

They should stop trespassing on peoples properties if a property or individual is owing send a bill, if they are owing too much shut the line, if you want to collect what they are owing by force, charge them to court by simply serving a court notice.

If the customer can prove that they didn’t receive service for what the electric company is asking for money for then the electric company owe a damage to the defender.

Simple justice.
It a big huge joke to think this makes sense at all. It either you pay up for the service or get disconnected if you insist you never got the service. It's that simply and it's justice to you. After all, if you claimed you never got the service, then it shouldn't bother you when disconnected.

Your solution is simply on nairaland but unrealistic. People who can barely feed or pay for energy used are now supposed to pay lawyers who would represent them in a case they would likely lose after it has span over 2 years.

That's by far the worst possible solution ever because it would simply steer up further resentment. It would further put official of Disco in harm's way because they would be attacked anywhere they are found.

Power company should have insurance and collection companies that closes the gaps on defaulters that’s how advance countries has been doing it. It’s a proven successful model. But because of the tendencies to defraud people nigerians don’t borrow successfully experimented model instead they try to create a fraudulent system where force and intimidation is infused to defraud people.

Nigerians don’t like trouble deep down if they have been provided the service they will quickly find a way to pay the moment you serve them court notice. That’s would completely eliminate the confrontation between the customer and the staffs of the company, but because power company want to get paid for service they never offered they always get confrontational using security agents to intimidate people.

Give Nigerians electricity they’ll pay, once there is electricity there would be more jobs and people can get a job to pay their bills

The contract company works with them and the govt, so they should sort their lapses and stop pushing it to us.
They should allow us buy in the open market and register our account details on it just like the way we use phone
Kindly understand that payment was done to the contract company by u for ur meters not ikeja electric. They are companies with sole entity and not affiliated with ikeja electric

Tell me about this model because if the defaulter is not deceased or incapacitated, there's no justification for insurance companies to pay up such bill. If that way a thing, everyone should default without consequences and wait on insurance companies to service their debt.

We love saner climes but a lot of Nigerians are not sane enough to qualify for these climes. Surprisingly, they maintain composure and abide by the local laws when they are out to where the law wouldn't spare their lawless a** for a second.

People are complaining about arbitrary billing and estimated billing.
Someone travelled for months and he got billed. Is that the govt?
Discos will only pay for power they collected from govt. The excess is theirs
Why are some of us paying for power we didn't use?
Oga if u were buying a shirt for 50 naira as the cost price which the manufacturing company increase to 100 naira all of a sudden, are u still going to sell for 50 naira?or u will increase to 100 naira minding the fact that is now a private company?

It can be filed off as loss or sell the debt to collection companies for 50percent of the amount owe and completely deregistered the consumer on their customer database if it has gotten to that stage. So moving forward if a customer knows that they might end up been black listed on electric company database if they acted irresponsible with their bill at that time you would have solved the problems with intentionally irresponsible electricity consumers.

Consequences makes people act responsible

In a sane country you can't be giving people estimated bills to pay.
Their was a country called Nigeria.

I remember when we dey small. Nepa officials will be moving house to house checking meters and after a period of time nepa bills will start coming.
This days the only NEPA official na the one wey dey bring estimated bills, another set wey you go see na once we go come cut your wire if you no pay. If you still find them something. They will not cut your light for that month.
Na so we take they get light that year. Until our bill reach 200k. Omo landlord enter country that year come vex give all tenant. grin grin grin
Recently, someone got promoted to the top for developing e-billing application. I thought we should be thinking of Pre-paid meters to once and for all solve the crazy bills problem leading to these reprisals. No wonder we're retrogressing. People are getting tired of these and damning the consequences to resort to jungle justice

There's no need to attack staffs if u feel pained attack the govt cz IKEJA electric only distributes power and don't generate,so govt are the ones increasing ur bill not ikedc.

The fact is, people who cheer those that attack DISCO officials should realise that bill defaulters put pressure on those who do pay their bills...and also make it more financially difficult for our power sector to be fixed.

I don't think you read my comment.

Who's talking about increase?

We're talking being forced to pay for power not used.

Can Discos pay FG for the duration of time they didn't collect power because the power stations shut down?

So, they should allow u pay for exactly what we use too no matter the increase

Discos are also involved, if not why do we apply for prepaid through discos? Why is disco the one to inspect the metre periodically to check for infractions like bypassing?
What is the name of this company with their address since they work independently?

As far as i'm concerns, Nigeria electricity is fucking dead, the crazy bills they brings is terrible, the Ikeja Electricity should also know that Nigerians are no more happy and comfortable paying for what we didn't USE any LONGER. Nigrrians are really NOT happy

U actually applied through a general portal subscribed to by all metering contract companies according to ur location. After the meter is been certified ok by the qaqc team it becomes ikeja electric responsibility but as for payment to installation is solely the contract firms.

Power usage depends on the allotment from the distribution transformer, when u talk about not used I will want to get a breakdown of the issue, but wen u talk about no matter the increase u should know that any increment affect each tariff charge per unit.i await the breakdown of ur issue.

There we go.
Which break down?
Am I on prepaid?
I've booked a prepaid meter a year ago with no luck. Only about houses have prepaid meter on my street even after their officials have accessed our houses. And those people were able to get cos they know ppl.
At Ijegun we go weeks with low current and days without power but we still get the same estimated bills.
If I'm on estimated billing, how we they know I'm not at home?
Because all they do is bring the same 8k-10k monthly whether I'm at home or not. Not to talk of last week that power was off for 5 days.

I hear you, seems you work for Ikeja disco. Companies an individual can't walk into for meter purchase except we apply through the disco.
I've not seen anyone with sales point address outside their head office for the importers and factory address for manufacturers.
This gadgets are readily available only if it is allowed to be sourced and used by individual customers. It uses some form of IP address for connectivity, so same can be used for the connection when purchased.
Before the private companies were contracted for the sale, discos were the one vested with it but they failed in their responsibility just to reap where they never sowed through estimated billing, or how do you describe raising bills for community without light for a month plus?

You should know that he is one of them with his tone. I also stay around same area with you.
Last week, our light was disconnected, not for recent bill but for very old billing that was raised more than 10yrs ago when we had no transformer for more than a year.
The funniest part is they disconnected the light before coming to meet me inside, I showed them the bill receipt and they left, so I went back inside, I just looked out and noticed that the wire is not on the pole again.
