Lagos historically was first occupied by the Bini people who established their military outposts in some parts of Lagos where they traded with the early European arrivals to the ports who happened to be Portuguese, they actually coined the name "Lagos". The etymology Eko has no meaning in Yoruba language (I dare any Yoruba to tell me the meaning of Eko in Yoruba translation). Some parts of Lagos are owned by the Awori's( the real indigenes of Eko who are not yoruba by the way)... Yaribas just like every other Nigerians in Lagos today were among the early migrants to Lagos... They have the British to thank for handing Lagos over to them since they somehow outnumbered the other tribes that migrated to Lagos... so historically aside from the Awori's who are the true aboriginals of Eko, and to some extent the Bini who were the first migrants to establish trading routes in Lagos with the Portuguese traders... no tribe actually has a legitimate claim to Lagos... for now Yaribas control the power structure but that won't last for long because they are fast losing their influence in the socioeconomic aspects of control in the affairs of Lagos as Igbos are taking over almost everything (real estate, markets, businesses, civil service, landed properties etc). I see a major power shift happening in less than 10 years when an Igbo man will DEFINITELY emerge as governor of Lagos state, and the Bini people are now fully aware that they have as much rights to the true ownership of Lagos as the Yoruba MIGRANTS... truly Lagos is no man's land. |

Christistruth00:This isn't 1967, the biggest mistake (probably of the entire war from a Biafran perspective) that Ojukwu made was to give the command of the Midwest and Lagos invasion to a mere Yoruba man whose treachery inevitably ruined the momentum of speed and surprise the attack was premised upon. But the Igbos of this generation have corrected that mistake, but this time not true war or needless wasting of lives... but by a wilful, strategic, methodical and determined plan to dominate the socioeconomic fabrics of Lagos before its final conquest. Then after that has been accomplished and the political stranglehold of Yaribas (who are not even indigenous Lagosians) over Eko has been neutralized and the migrant Yaribas rendered politically and socio-economically irrelevant, then the ownership of Lagos will be up for grabs, but this time Igbos will negotiate with the marginalized Awori people who have been unwillingly yorubanized amd then the Benin over the partition of Lagos for the real owners to emerge the stakeholders of a new Lagos. |

Coconuthead126:This was the arrogance that led to the abandoned property Saga in Port Harcourt Gowon begged and begged but the Eastern Minority’s were not in a mood to forgive their oppressors Your Wicked plans for Yorubas have failed woefully already just as Ojukwu’s own failed |

Coconuthead126:Why should anyone believe that you didn’t simply heap up all the above damned-lies and dog-shit as a compensation for ndi-Igbo’s historical bitterness ?? Are you sure that you should be taken seriously vis-a-vis your above heap of insecurity?? Please convince someone to take you serious. I’d be looking out for such comment. Cheers! TAO11:Thanks TAO11 he is currently on another thread fighting Ijaws over Ownership of Warri. Sowing of discord and division seems to be the new Biafran Strategy since God almighty in his Wisdom did not grant them abundant Land or Sea Coast enough for them to stand on their own. They must have realised that when they took one look at the Map, Biafra is just not a viable Country Maybe the thought of leaving Lagos is too much to bear Coconuthead126: |

Christistruth00:If Gani Adams places a detachment of OPC on MNK command, will he allow MNK to use them as he wishes? Banjo shouldn't have taken the offer but as a slittery being, he wanted to plan coup against Ojukwu. We are glad he eliminated the traitor. Read the letter slowly and try to understand the intentions behind it. Ojukwu was protecting his men. If we were interested in SW, A Yoruba man won't be leading the Liberation Army. It would have been a division of the Biafran troops marching down the SW |
