nairalandankrah:Ebuehi isn't a left back, that he was a make shift doesn't make him one. Ola Aina and Ebuehi are contenders for RB. I still prefer Uzoho as No 1., Okoye still hasn't convinced me yet |

BascoVanVeli:What is Alex Ferguson being wrong. He had the player two years before Shittu was in the scene. Andersen and Mikel knew long before Shittu. All of a sudden Shittu had a contract with the same player. Who stole Mikel? It was Shittu. Andersen and Ferguson had to let go. A player they started nurturing before the U17. Where was Shittu then? |

BOAT RIDE TO PORTO NOVO: SUPER EAGLE PLAYERS REACT Traveling by sea, it is what it is, we can’t use that as an excuse. We know what we have to do mentally and that is to win the match. I have never travelled by sea before,” Aribo told The PUNCH. “I guess we have to be okay with it, I will say its a bit unusual but that’s just how it is. If they change it, it’ll be good if they don’t, we’ll be fine but the most important thing is that we get there in one piece, and win the game,” Balogun added. “It will be my first time travelling by sea but I don’t really mind. All that matters to me and my teammates is to wear the jersey, represent our country and win the game,” in-form Galatasaray forward Henry Onyekuru said. Defender William Troost-Ekong said, “As long as it is safe and we get there as quickly as possible, then It is fine.” Make mature men no burst cry for road ooo ![]() |

andrewbaba44:Mikel was playing for a top team and starting against top teams and was a regular for a longer time than Essien. So he is rated ahead of Essien. You can say think before you talk but it does not change the fact. Mikel was a top player for a longer time. Finito. Just like Iniesta and Toni Kroos we're top players for a longer time than Ronaldinho. Thus rated higher than him. Finito. Deep down, that is the truth. |

TheGoodJoe:Mikel was no where near michael essien level Mikel rated ahead of essien ? mikel wasnt even starting for a top team at 30, maybe if he had continue in the epl like willian and david luis playing for a top team then we can argue this You always say rubbish written in BLUE with a little good use of the English language EOD |

Samueltemi337:If only we had a reasonable coach that is not afraid to make bold moves and decisions, dis formation is what suits us right nw, and we strikers who could do well in dis formation...although am skeptical abt aribo ability to do well in a 2- man midfield he plays better in a 3-man midfield.. |

andrewbaba44:How was Mikel not starting for a top team when under Ancelotti he was even rated among the best passers in the epl. How was he not starting and Mikel started in the Champions League and FA Cup finals? |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 2:20pm On Mar 25, 2021 |
andrewbaba44:I don't know your problem with me but saying that I always say rubbish does not give your point weight. Mikel was a starter at Chelsea. Sometimes he ended on the bench and sometimes had a regular run. The two times Guus Hiddink was at Chelsea, Mikel was a regular. Mikel was a regular under Ancelotti. Mikel was a regular for Roberto Di Matteo. Mikel is one of the most played foreign player in the history of Chelsea. So saying I am typing rubbish does not change the fact. |

TheGoodJoe:I never said he didnt start at a top team sir, i even said he was man of the match against bayern in a champions league final, you think i have anything against mikel ? but at 30 mikel was not playing for a top team and you feel he is better than michael essien with his longevity extended to china and playing at trabzonspor Same me here have argued with someone who said he isnt world class, but saying he was on a higher level than michael essien is pure nonsense A finish michael essien at 32 which is not his real age (dude removed nothing less than 8 years from his real age) but he still got to play for real madrid and ac millan, but same cant be said of mikel |

andrewbaba44:https://lastwordonsports.com/football/2020/05/18/the-legend-of-john-obi-mikel-chelseas-most-underrated-midfielder/amp/ See the word there? A permanent name. He was a regular. Being on the bench sometimes is natural when your time at a club span a decade.

andrewbaba44:At the time Essien was at AC Milan, they were not at the top of European Football. After Mourinho left, he was not a regular at Real Madrid. Mikel was consistent at the top scene with Chelsea when they had a trophy haul. So what is the problem? |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 2:30pm On Mar 25, 2021 |
andrewbaba44:Mikel does not need to be a journey man to get the rating. It is longevity at the top. So typing someone is saying rubbish does not change the fact. |

andrewbaba44:Because there was something they saw about him and in him. One of the greatest in Portugal, Eusebio was taken from Mozambique and the rest is history. Same with our Finidi from Sharks to Ajax. |

TheGoodJoe:If they did not need him how come he played so much? Even under Mou when it was easier to loan him out |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by andrewbaba44: 2:33pm On Mar 25, 2021 |
TheGoodJoe:After mourinho he was no longer regular at madrid , thats a silly excuse as if mikel was regular at 29/30 when conte was at chelsea He played at madrid when he was 32 and you cant change that , mikel wont make that madrid team even as a CB |

andrewbaba44:His career was over a decade at the top. His career at Chelsea was a high career. career was long and glamorous. |

andrewbaba44:Playing at Real Madrid is not the point but Longevity. Essien did not have a long career at Real Madrid. He had a good career. He is a top player but Mikel had a longer career at the top. The point is simple |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by andrewbaba44: 2:36pm On Mar 25, 2021 |
TheGoodJoe:I didnt say mikel wasnt regular at chelsea or not a good player , my point is that he isnt michael essien level He stayed for chelsea at 10 seasons so he should be their most played foreign player, some players beat that achievement below 10 seasons |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 2:37pm On Mar 25, 2021 |
jihday:Not true. Carrick had a brilliant career. It is the role of play. Mikel would have had a long wonderful career if he was utilised the right way. |

nelszx:I equally believes Uzoho is better than Okoye. Funny how some people think Okoye should be our number one goalie. The guy to me is poor at crossing or aerial ball. |

andrewbaba44:We are not talking about some players. I said Mikel had a long career at the top. So rated ahead of Essien. The point is too simple. |

Longevity at the top is the point. You can not have a long career at the top if you don't have quality. That is why I used Kroos and Iniesta to buttress the point. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by andrewbaba44: 2:41pm On Mar 25, 2021 |
TheGoodJoe:Michael essien played 9 season at chelsea 1 at madrid and 1 at milan, i guess thats not longevity compared to mikel 11 seasons with essien winning same trophies as mikel Should i also tell you on how essien was so important to Lyon winning the ligue 1 twice and also winning the ligue 1 player of the year ? What about chelsea player of the season ? |

jihday:Ferguson would have not. He flew to Norway three times to convince Mikel to turn down Chelsea. I watched two of them on MUTV. He wanted and had a plan for Mikel. He would not have sold him. I am telling you how desperate Ferguson wanted Mikel and his belief in him. You are just guessing and writing people are delusional without a reason to back it up. He even nicknamed Mikel- Obi Wan. |
