andrewbaba44:That is them. And most is rating for a brief period. But, in the long run, Mikel lasted longer at the top. Whether they rate or not. |

jihday: I watched it. They did not tell me. I used to be a died hard Manchester United fan from 1996 to 2010. Ferguson went to Norway repeatedly. The last I watched, Mikel refused to attend to him. |

jihday:I even vexed. I said who does Mikel feel he is not to listen to Ferguson after he traveled to see him. Before the news of the back forces came up. |

TheGoodJoe:Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson considered travelling to Oslo to visit Mikel, but decided against this after Mikel was reported to have left the country. (taken from Google) |

chrisooblog:Wasn't very impressive in 2006, started in place of okocha and our attack was very poor, okocha later replaced him (I think) |

wayodude:I was not blown away by him until some years at Manchester United. Years later. He was a very top player. That is what chrisooblog is talking About. Over the years at Manchester United, Carrick was highly special. By the way, I didn't even know his name at West Ham. |

jihday:I don't care if you believe. But, you can not Google and be claiming. Google are articles. I was obsessed about the news. I can even tell you Mikel stopped training with the team and was living in a hotel away from public to prevent anyone from reaching him. You can only Google and argue. |

disagree 100% Mikel in 2006 AFCON was phenomenal considering the fact that he wasn't playing club football due to the Chelsea/Manchester United controversy. Mind you we had some solid midfielders in Wilson Oruma and Christian Obodo but Mikel still outshone them both. That a young man with barely any national team experience who hadn't played club football for months would come in and dominate veterans should tell you of his talent. I remember watching how he would control the tempo of our midfield and make us dominant in that part of the pitch. Even the game we lost to CIV was lack of defensive discipline that cost us yet Mikel still held his against a team that had Yaya Toure, Zokora o!. Okocha was already spent in 2006. Just to appreciate how good Mikel was that year can you imagine Keshi or Rohr picking an inactive, inexperienced 18-year-old for a tournament like the AFCON and making him the fulcrum of your midfield? jihday: |

when spurs where known as Tottering hotspur? Carrick was just another English midfielder nobody knew even scott parker sef was better known. It was when carrick joined Man U that his game transformed for the better. I know he was part of the glenn hoddle team that finished I think 5th that season that had the likes of jermaine defoe and joe cole. jihday: |

Carrick wasn't turning heads then. The standout players then were Kanoute, defoe and joe cole. It was when he joined Manchester United that his game now really flourished. I mean look at Lampard he was just there at West Ham but see how he transformed into a world class player at Chelsea. wayodude: |

TheGoodJoe:He is wrong because the court still determined that Shittu was the rightful agent. This is Europe we are talking about here so we know there was no mago mago. The facts were presented and Shittu won the case meaning Anderson was the fraudulent agent. The rest is just hearsay |

TheGoodJoe:Essien during his peak years of 04-09 was amongst the best midfielders in the game, probably he was the best DM/box-box hybrid player. At no time did Mikel ever reached that level. Mikel was good between 07-12, so looking at it logically i really don't think using the 'last Long' argument cuts it considering both of them had 5/6 yrs at a top level. The difference between both is Essien at his peak was levels above any African midfielder.. I will commend Mikel though for making good use of his talent to play at a top level that long considering the competition he had at Chelsea. |
