I am a public servant with a regular salary however I am addicted to betting and it is affecting my finances and most especially, my family.
Please nairalanders , how do I get out? It is killing me

I hope you married a sensible wife. She's your answer. Instruct your bank to pay her 80% of your salary. Then let her be giving you only transportation money from it.

Let's see how you can gamble with 20%.

First start by deleting all apps relating to betting and stats predictions. From there you will also need to stop watching football( for now) and start engaging in more profiting activities like reading and praying.

I hope this helps.
funny ppl every where, when did praying become profitable undecided

How does watching football influences betting??!!!

So what will you tell one who bets and plays football??

To stop playing football....
you can be watching football and all of a sudden, a betting site partnering with the football club u are watching will pop up. Tell me, wouldn't it make you quitting betting look more difficult.

As much as I believe, all betting sites are relatively the same with slight odds differences... The beautiful game of football is for the fun and love of it

Well if it will further help him quit, then it's a valid point

Don't mind op. He's greedy.

For. Instance, I do stake on 3 odds with less than daily cashing out almost 27k daily. Just understand what's working and explore it.

Since the past 1 year, I haven't go beyond this set target and it works.

I can relate to your dilemma, I was once addicted like you but these are the steps I took that liberated me from the dark bondage of gamble.

1) DELETE THE SPORT BETTING ACCOUNT: if you're having any sport betting account you have got to delete the account. In deletion of any sport bet account you've got to send mail to them and details your gambling conditions before they can delete the account for you but if you're the type that do visit bet shop to gamble there is different method you need to to apply to stop going there which I'll enlist to you as you continue reading.

2)DELETE ANY LIVE SCORE APP, BROWSER AND ANY OTHER APP THAT KEEPS YOU CONNECT WITH SPORT: This is to ensure you're not getting sport update for some bit long of time till you finally get over it.

3) FIND A NEW MEANS OF ENTERTAINMENT IN EXCHANGE WITH FOOTBALL SPORT: this is to unfriend yourself and abstain from anything call sport.

LASTLY: You need to reconcile with God if you are Christian or Muslim, make a new decision( Be born again), study the word of God and communicate with God often( through prayer) and daily work on your spiritual growth...by doing this you'll be able to grow spiritually and strong enough to resist the temptation or of Gambling when it comes.

Why number 3 is very important among the checklist above is because of the spiritual force involve in gambling especially when deciding to stop it like this.

You need to pray to God often to deliver you totally and through the word of God which is spiritual weapon of believer warfare you shall subdue over this addiction.

https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/compulsive-gambling/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20355184

Treatment for compulsive gambling may include these approaches:

Therapy. Behavior therapy or cognitive behavioral therapy may be beneficial. Behavior therapy uses systematic exposure to the behavior you want to unlearn and teaches you skills to reduce your urge to gamble. Cognitive behavioral therapy focuses on identifying unhealthy, irrational and negative beliefs and replacing them with healthy, positive ones. Family therapy also may be helpful.

Medications. Antidepressants and mood stabilizers may help problems that often go along with compulsive gambling — such as depression, OCD or ADHD. Some antidepressants may be effective in reducing gambling behavior. Medications called narcotic antagonists, useful in treating substance abuse, may help treat compulsive gambling.

Self-help groups. Some people find that talking with others who have a gambling problem may be a helpful part of treatment. Ask your health care professional for advice on self-help groups, such as Gamblers Anonymous and other resources.

Treatment for compulsive gambling may involve an outpatient program, inpatient program or a residential treatment program, depending on your needs and resources. Treatment for substance abuse, depression, anxiety or any other mental health disorder may be part of your treatment plan for compulsive gambling.

yes it is of great help to stop watching temporarily. Once they score goals, the bettor watching the football might start saying something like, if i had bet these goals now, i would have won as addicted bettors don't think of anyother thing except betting betting betting

You ve big eye that's why u re not winning, play small sure game and don't play more than 200 also, don't play draw games or direct winning play 1x or 2x handicaps, always read tables and know when a team is picking up, check next matches too, etc moreover play for fun and don't play as if ur whole life depends on it. YOU RE ALMOST THERE. I prefer playing than wasting money on drinks and women. Remember play it for fun

]How I stopped betting. First of all, I asked myself "why do I bet in the first place". I bet because of money. When I win, I make money, and when I don't win, I lose money. Sometimes I do win and make money, and other times I don't win and I lose money. After any given period of time (one week, one month, or a few months), I notice no matter what happens, I lose much more money than I gain.
This made me realise it will be in my best interest to stop betting. And that's exactly what I did. And my financial life is better now.
My advice to you op, you need to stop betting right now. If you stopped betting now, you will see the massive difference it will make in your life.
Thanks so much!

We have given advice to many people like you on this forum on this same topic in the past half decade or more.

Many came back to say thank you for saving their destinies after following the step by step advice given to them.
(We told them all thanks and Glory belongs to God alone.)

We hope to come across one of those threads and give you the link.
Too long to start typing all over again.

May God save Naija youths from gambling.

The number one Rule for Gambling is : NEVER bet with what you cannot afford to lose.
But these ones will bet with their school fee,
pocket money,
they borrow loans to play bet, use friends and family members kept with them to play, they use their house rent etc.....

Dem no dey telli person......
