Independence Hall, U.I comes to mind, the students even clean their water tanks. The students should take responsibility.

The honest truth is that schools in Nigeria are grossly underfunded.

Either fees go up, or taxes go up, or we just accept the mess and stop complaining...this mess is awful, but it is what we can afford.

I knew it will never go out of all you v just mentioned. But i just wanted to be sure. Same in my school IBBUL.

Dirty students because no one cares...if they can't do it why don't they pay monthly contribution for cleaning.

I spit on this hostel

I stayed in Block B during my remedial years back in 2000. Then every where was sparkling neat. You could even eat in the toilets if you were asked to. We lack maintenance culture in all spheres of our national life. Just imagine the level of filth!

I stayed in this very hostel (block D, popularly known as Zamf) for 5 years. Apart from the dirt, it's a fun place to be.

All my years there I moved from town to the school spending daily #450. I can't go and kill myself because of school

Talk is cheap. Have you ever heard of the “broken windows theory”? If not, I suggest you google it.

The government is to be blamed here.
The government or the school authority ought to have employed cleaners and make sure the cleaners do their jobs very well.

When people (including dirty people) find themselves in a very tidy environment, they usually adjust. Might not be immediately, but they eventually adjust and live accordingly. The same applies to untidy surroundings.

The government have failed these students. Students are not sent to school to sweep hostels!

zamf hostel, I still can't believe that I actually spent five years in that hostel. if you survive zamf hostel then the World becomes a playground to you. I still hail my alma mater.

Oh my God! 2008 is so many years back. You must have gone so far in life. The school no get joy na. The maintenance policy of the school is just so bad. U need to pay it a visit and see how dilapidated things are. My Greatest Makurian, I pay my respect, sir.

Those set of boys staying in that hostel are very dirty and their should be evicted for the hostel immediately. For that to keep their environment is a crime for than. Dirty set of students staying there.

I think you see the so-called "leaders of tomorrow". How does someone who's always crying victim (and unwilling to take charge of their own environment" become a good governor or senator?

Is it FG or the caretakers that threw all that trash around?
If students contributed 300 each for some bleach, brooms, and a tanker of water, they can clean this up real quick. Dig a small refuse area, pack the rubbish, then burn that crap.

It has been more than a month since academic activities kicked off in the federal university of agriculture Makurdi. I went to the boys hostel yesterday to collect study materials from a friend and what I saw very much unpleasant to all my senses.

Now the question is who is to be blamed for the state of the environment because the students themselves are blaming the school's authority but personally I feel the students are to be blamed too

What is your own opinion

You see this saying "youths are the leaders of tomorrow?" It is very correct. We are breeding in most universities in this country the next round of useless leaders, and citizens as well. We are no different from the present useless leaders we have. My Year1 in hostel in school was frustrated by delinquent students. I packed and cleaned shit from my toilet and bathroom floor tire, plus urine. Human being go see toilet seat but go still shit for the floor. I suffer for wicked students hands o. No sense of responsibility on the part of most students to keep school properties and environment clean.
