In life, it is what you focus on that expands. If all you wrote up there is all you you focus on, that is your reality and it will manifest.
Your mindset precedes your thoughts and your thoughts precede your words and your words are seeds, they bear fruits. The land will bless those who bless it and curses those who curse it. Every day you curse this land called Nigeria, you will not be blessed by the land and I guarantee you that except you change, years from now, you will still be lamenting and won't still see anything good of the land in your life even when others are being blessed. It is your mouth and mindset to blame.
Check yourself before you completely wreck yourself. Right now you can't afford to miss it by choosing wrong companies and not reading good books.visit www.freestuffsng.com for latest freestuffs in Nigeria.

I strongly disagree with you!! Cos even the former chief of staff to Buhari was killed by Covid too... And Omo if anyone in Nigeria likes let him curse UK or US or Canada nothing go do the country at all!!! They are developed and no spiritual things can change it...

National Bureau of statistics or so made a publication last year or so saying the people who have 500k in their account and above are just 2% of the total Population of Nigerians ....so out of more than 250M people na only 2% get up to 500k and above in their account you see say Poverty don chop the country finish!! So all these " Do you know who I am...Do you know who I am??" Omo na 2% O grin

Someone can't read a thread In travelling section with out the thread being derailed by the pro abroad and anti- abroad people.

The OP is talking about what those staying abroad illegally pass through, it has degenerated to another abroad is good/ bad , Nigeria is good / bad thread.

When posts like this one come up, you see them coming out to say its to discourage people from travelling abroad and then they argue and argue.

Shuuu, those that will go abroad will go and those that will stay in naija will stay.

I am not sure you read the story or perhaps you did not understand it ma. These are people doing well in Nigeria yet travelled overseas and decided to cheat the system of their host country.
Not everyone wants to go Yankee ma. Not even by this crooked manner . All the preliminary signs are always there. A crocodile in Nigeria can't become a Tiger in UK/US. That Henry guy must have been breaking the laws but getting away with it in Nigeria, he just carried such obnoxious behaviour overseas and unfortunately for him, he now can't get away with it anymore.

If he is not a law breaker, he should have left UK and returned home rather than living the rest of his life as a fugitive.
When people create problems for themselves they should be honest to admit it instead of blaming others or their native country.

Some people are so good on their jobs here in Lagos that they are routinely sent overseas to work and they return home even before their visa expires.I sometimes cringe when I see some Nigerians hustling overseas getting paid far less in overseas for what they can earn more for here at home but too ashamed to come back home.

It is never too late to come back home and rebuild especially when you see your life goals flashing away before your eyes. Why on earth will I want to spend years overseas as a fugitive or a menial job worker? visit www.freestuffsng.com for latest freestuffs in Nigeria. God bless Nigeria.

Brother, me read it very well but nothing changes the fact that it's better out than in Nigeria. Nigeria has no value system no matter how tiny. No respect for each other, no value for each other, everyone I just lawless, ignorant while being intentional about it and irreproachable.

This is a nation where we trample on the right actions intentionally and even with confidence starting with Mr President himself to ordinary beggar on the street. We promote the wrong social values and ethics even in the name of affluence or to be seen as favorable. The worse part is those that have the capacity to influence things to be done right are just simply cowards and divided. Nigeria is a very disorganized, unsettled nation of hypocrites but we earnestly pray that God will intervene.

In the UK, no matter how bad life is, the systems works. So they would keep doing anything to stay in an environment that works than return to uncertainty.

It really does not matter sir. It's just a matter of time, you will realise that you will get from Nigeria what you wish for Nigeria. You will get from Detroit same thing you wish for Detroit. I know someone who talks down on Nigeria like you and feels he has spent long enough years overseas to insulate him from the curses he rains on his fatherland. When covid-19 swept people away in the UK, he was one of those who didn't make it back soon enough and the rest is history. He is 6 feet down below somewhere overseas not even his graveyard was seen by his relative here in Nigeria.
When he needed to run down to Nigeria, by providence, our airspace was shut and he was shut out. He got exactly the bad stuff he gives to the land and even both his living and dead did not make it back to Nigeria.
If you can't bless the Land of Nigeria, don't curse it because it will haunt you someday.

First I didn't say anything about menial jobs I don't know why you keep bringing it up.

Secondly I was talking about thier system of government and taxation policies

And thirdly abroad is not just about making money it boils down to good standard of living.

If its all about the money making in Nigeria, then politicians wont be relocating thier kids abroad for schooling and medical trips or checkups.

When Nigeria was sweet was back then in the 80s and 90s.

The way things are going on in the country right now(kidnapping, banditry, religious killings, ethnic crisis) if care is not taking the economy will crash to the ground before 2050.

Living in Nigeria right now is a risk.

That's why people say if you can survive in Nigeria you can survive anywhere in the world

OP,
Thank you for taking your time to write in detail what migrants experience in these foreign countries.

I am also disappointed with the lack of understanding in the comments section.

I used to dream of traveling out of Nigeria for greener pastures until I got a work with an NGO that assist stranded migrants in Europe. For over 2years, we have assisted more than 500 persons. About 99.8% of the returnees are regretting why they ever traveled. Their stories are very sad and difficult to listen to. Most of them don't make it back alive. It is not as rosy as those who never traveled think.

Staying irregular in foreign countries is quite miserable. There is no problem if your papers complete tho. But once it expires.... hmm...your name na sorry!

Africans should have some pride. If your leadership is bad, get involved in politics and improve it. Build businesses and create jobs if you can't get one. Do whatever you can to succeed, live a good life, and develop your own country. There's dignity in labor, especially when you're succeeding against all odds in your place of origin. Don't migrate to Europe and America and become a second class citizen that are treated like slaves. Their weather can even kill you because that's not your natural home, or haven't you heard about blacks dying of cold weather?

If Europeans ran away from their countries while they were still developing, would you guys have anywhere to run to? Have some shame and pride. If you are strong and smart, you can succeed anywhere, Nigeria is no exception. Anyone that's too desperate to run away is either mentally lazy or a weakling, and if you follow their progress very well, even in abroad, they don't go far there. If there's no Europe and Nigeria is the only country there is, won't you work smart and hard to succeed here?

If you are in need of quality education, and you can afford to get it in Europe, by all means go, get it, and return to your country and apply your knowledge here. We should all learn to give back to Nigeria and build it up. If you can't travel to get better education, get busy and make use of your God given brains, the richest people are not the most educated. Education is not synonymous with being smart, but can add to the quality of being smart. So get smart, and quit complaining. There are more greener pastures in Nigeria if you open your eyes to see.
Look, I'm as much a self believer in African pride as anyone, but all you're doing here is meaningless armchair quarterbacking.

All this talk of "if Europeans ran away from their countries", as if all the white people in the USA, Canada, Australia and the South American countries simply sprang out of thin air - if you'd bothered to read a history book, you'd know that most of their ancestors were driven to flee Europe by the very same impulse that pushes Nigerians abroad today, namely the desire for a better life in a country with real prospects of upward mobility.

As for the imaginary "greener pastures in Nigeria" you're talking about, unless you're single-handedly ready to provide quality jobs, honest government and trustworthy security to the many millions of educated and under-employed Nigerians who remain behind, spare us the empty platitudes, because nobody's buying what you're selling.

As clear as I've tried to be on here in the past about those trying to sell wannabe illegal immigrants on false dreams of streets in London and New York being paved with gold, people like you who try to make a hellish Nigeria out to be some sort of heaven on earth are just as bad. The truth is that this country is horribly misgoverned, with Buhari's utterly lifeless and incompetent tenure having managed to make GEJ's incompetence and graft seem almost ideal by comparison. Nigeria is nowhere near where it could be if those who had a clue were in charge, but the educated and idealistic sorts who could make a difference are heavily outnumbered by the tribalists, religious zealots and fantastists like yourself who always opt for the same tired old crooks and know-nothings, so who can blame those who know better for wanting to take their skills where they'll be put to better use?

It's simply absurd to expect people who have taken the time and trouble to make something of themselves to allow their lives to be wasted begging for scraps in a sh*thole of a country where even paving the road to the main international airport is beyond the government, let alone providing reliable electricity, policemen who fight crime instead of committing it, clean drinking water and other basics which are simply taken for granted almost everywhere else in the world.

Go back to school, go and learn the real meaning of millionaire or billionaire. mobutu sese seko ex president of D.R congo died a millionaire via corruption how many wealth did he create? Life is about safety, about security, about normal basic amenities like good roads stable power supply, good medical facilities. Your clown of a president going abroad for medical treatment said it all. You are benefiting from the corrupt system that's why you think the system is ok.

Nigeria is bless with all you mentioned above but citizens can't enjoy good power supply? Your budget is to enriched politicians. Republic of Benin have got better power supply than your lot.

It is about creating wealth oga leaving a legacy Nigerian abroad are doing great. If i return to naija today with £20,000 that automatically make me a millionaire cuz thats in 20k in naira is over 13 million naira.

That is why said you should go back to sch to.learn the meaning of millionaire billionaire per country.

Who is slave? Politicians hiding food meant for the masses or government helping masses during pandemic? Stay in your zoo of a country if you are loving it, but stop being fake by saying naija is alright for average Nigerians. For your information a pound is 675 naira meaning that will take you nearly 2 yrs to save a pound if you are saving one naira every day.

There are somethings that cannot be controlled when you have a bad leadership. The only thing that should register in your mind is that God will always protect his own.
