THE Obong of Calabar, Edidem Ekpo Abasi Otu V, has denied claims that he has given the Eze Igbo Cross River, Chief Emmanuel Ezenwenyi seven days to leave Calabar.

In a press statement by the Etuboms Traditional Rulers Council of the Palace of Obong of Calabar signed by His Highness B .O., B Duke made available to Vanguard, the Obong said the letter sent to the Eze Igbo giving him seven days to leave Calabar is an attempt to incite the public and lead to the breakdown of law and order.

‘Our attention has been drawn to a letter credited to a group, Nka Ikemesit Mkparawa Essien Efik Duoeba giving an individual- Eze Igbo seven days to leave Calabar if he does not apologise for ‘ insulting the Obong’ during the visit of a dignitary to him”.

The Obong stated that he “frowns seriously at the attempt by some persons to use social media to misquote, politicise and incite the public over this matter and according called for restraint.

He admonished all neighbours and non-indigenes who have lived in the state to continue to live in peace and avoid provocative actions.
He warned against the use of social media to create actions that can lead to the break down of law and order in the city.

I think the social media and internet have to be regulated in Nigeria in a way that people are held responsible for the information they put out in public domain.

Responsibility and accountability should mean something in this part of the world. Fake news, like Donald Trump calls it, can cause bad blood and destroy the fabrics of Nigeria's society

The mischief makers are nothing but the loud mouthed idiats from the brown roof republic.

The are haters of light and everything good from the east.

The are selfish, self centered, animalistic and very barbaric, the are skull Miners and organ harvesters.

You will see them in Lagos, you'll find them in Oyo, Ogun, and others.

They are always bitter with the truth, yes that's who they are.

They are the real enemies of Nigeria who have been sowing the seed if discord between brothers.

Their people are in idp camps in Niger republic.

Need not say more.

Any igbo who still have anything to do with such low lifers always pay a terrible price are they are the worst enemies of the Igbo race in the history of man kind.

I remember last week when I read the news, I saw how afonjas were masturbating on the topic, I can even mention all their monikers.
Their was no name afonjas did not call Igbos, within me I knew vividly well that obong can not just send such a letter, even if obong is having issue with Igbos he can't issue that statement.
Afonjas very terrible people,
I HV dinned and wine with them, they don't HV a stand just cankerworm neither here nor their.

Anti Igbo propaganda is at its peak in the social media.
Why this Taqqiya against the Obong and targeting Igbos using a faceless group in Calabar?

The Igbos and Efik have a lot in common, some of the masquerades and cousines in Igboland and Nsibidi alphabet were imported from Efik people and plenty Igbos still go to Cross River (Mba Mmiri) to get 'Traditional Power' for their self defence and can't disrespect the Obong whom they hold in high esteem as custodian of culture.

Many people on this forum pretending to be Yoruba are always spreading hate and fake news which the Mods conniving with them quickly moved to FP without verification and trying to create enmity between Yoruba and Igbo.

Sad that some people come on social media to incite hate. Only people who do not know their history would assume any animosity exists between Igbos and their neighbors in Calabar. Most of y’all do not even know how much these people share in common. Have you heard the Abiriba man speak his dialect of Igbo? Lol, a lot of Efik words form the base of their dialect. Google Efik traditional attire and that of the Abiriba. In Nigeria, we must learn to celebrate the things that unite us and not the things that separate us. It’s a shame we do this too well. The entire south should bury their beards in shame

Those beating drums of war should understand that bomb's and bullets is no respecter of tribe or religion.

Never has Nigeria been divided a long tribal and religious line like I see today.

Our leaders statements and body movement fuel's the discord more.
