Nollywood na ediot.

One Princess would refuse to go to Harvard because she wants to marry the son of a poor banished widow.

Or Desmond Elliot will come from Lagos to be pursuing a blind Genevieve upandan in the village.

No be say e no dey happen sha, some of us fit dey lucky. grin
since 2007 when we told you ppl to stop watching nollywood y'all said we were forming foreign things now see how they ve messed with ppls head to think that being poor will earn u some kind of dignity. It has always been like that; the rich attracts the rich.

Even the bible hates poor ppl to an extent it layed a curse on the poor so my brother hustle double!

I will tell you the reason why most times it is hard for the rich and the poor to ever gel to the extent of getting married. Agreed they may meet in a public university and date or have a fling but it will not just work out 9 time out of 10. The reason is not because of the unavailability of cash or excess cash in the account of the poor man - It is the mindset of the poor that irritates the rich

1. The poor are not daring, they love to be in their comfort zones and will easily withdraw to their shell when faced with adversity, while the rich always see adversity as an opportunity to solve problems and profit from it

2. The poor are mostly ingrates. Forget all that smiles and endless thank you and the deceptive saying of “My God will bless you for me” bla bla bla _ underneath is deep anger and resentment laced with jealousy. And if you as a rich person is patient enough you will see sparks of that resentment and unwarranted resistance due to jealousy in the relationship.

3. The rich value trust and that is how they network amongst themselves and you can not build that good network and trust if you are an ingrate. This attitude of being ungrateful is an attribute the poor have in abundance

4. The poor have trust issues. They always believe someone is out to get them, superstitious beliefs rule their minds and they are weirdly antagonistic to concepts and practices they don’t understand. They believe every failure is due some witches or wizards coming after them, while the rich - mostly business men believe bad breaks do happen and they look for solutions and learn from their mistakes. Once your mind is blocked and made up that some powers beyond your control is responsible for your failure, you can never succeed in anything you do, because you will keep looking for solutions where they don’t exist.

These and many more are the reasons why the rich avoid the poor either consciously or unconsciously and no one should fault the rich for that because “A mind is a terrible thing to waste”

One reason I love the average first-time Yoruba couple is, the age difference between them is hardly ever much. Growing up I always wondered where they even got the money to do wedding, lol.

HML to the couple.

Nairaland has made some of you unnecessarily sensitive and petty on tribal issues.

My point was, the couples were usually young and just starting life. I used to wonder how they were able to finance those huge Yoruba parties.

Go check your own head.

You just seem like a saucy bitch.... For every story you have you find it important to state if they're yoruba or not.....with your vailed tribal jabs and stupid generalizations..

Reasonable people would simply say....HML and they'd fvck off.....but you couldn't resist the urge to shalaye and talk about your biases.

Yea. It's a nice observation. For us that has friends all over the country. The Yorubas are the best when it comes to helping each other during events like wedding, burial etc. The whole family both nuclear and extended contribute in one-way or the other into these family events. Apart from the general contribution a good number also prepare their own food and other entertainment items for their guests and even other guests. So the party is heavy and fun.

Move to the east, where we copy the Yoruba owambe, but in our case you are typically OYO. Move to the north, where they too have copied the owambe, they too are OYO but the difference is that only the rich in the north copy this but in the east everyone wants a loud party like the Yorubas thereby putting us under enormous pressure.

One reason I love the average first-time Yoruba couple is, the age difference between them is hardly ever much. Growing up I always wondered where they even got the money to do wedding, lol.

Forget Nollywood
the rich usually marry from rich homes while the poor are more likely to marry their fellow poor.

with this if you come from a poor background you are more likely to marry from that same background unless you are lucky enough to meet people from other backgrounds. undecided

p.s Dangote's daughter never married a poor man
Did you know him? I'm keen on some information about him. Care to share some?
