let get something clear! who are we? we are group of related clans coming together to be calle IKWERRE, are we IGBO'S? no! why because just like ikwerre igbo is political name given to the ibo people in the southeast, what is the relation between an ikwerre man and an igbo man? we are both ibo's. so what is the correct word? the ikwerres and igbos are ibo's. so who are the ibo's? the ibo's are group of hetorozygously related people found in the southern part of nigeria and predominantly south-east. anioma no be ikwerre nither is ikwerre igbo simple umu nnemu let us learn to respect ourselves.. But things change during and after the war.
Some locals that had been nursing animosities for the Igbos and especially the Aros decided to use the opportunity to vent their angers.
Some Aros settle ran back to Igboland. Others were hidden by their good neighborhood.
Those that remained are still resented in Ikwerre land. Visit Elele, visit Isiokpo you will confirm this.
We still know some of their descendants till date and these are the people who are erroneously seen as Ikwerre men in Ohaneze group.
Any Ikwerre man that tells you he is igbo check if he doesn't have Aros background.
