Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has revealed the government has done more infrastructural projects with less money, unlike the previous Mahama administration.

At another town hall meeting Tuesday, he pointed out that the government is constructing four interchanges at nearly the same cost of one done by Mahama who is seeking a comeback to power.

Dr Bawumia mentioned the Tema, Pokuase and Obetsebi Lamptey interchanges in the Greater Accra Region and Tamale in the Northern region, all at a total cost of $289million.

But the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange in Accra alone was constructed at $260million, he compared.

“I would just leave that for you to ponder,” he said, suggesting his government has been more prudent than the NDC when it was in power.

So $94m is a colossal drain on Ghana.
Construction cost debate is a completely different case because I am aware it could take us on another intellectual trajectory which require new set of facts , figures and comparisons.

This is garbage.

FDI inflows varies among countries within a year and from year to year.

You get a more accurate picture of investment flows into a country or region by calculating it over a 3 to 5 year period, NOT over ''the last 6 months'', and when you do that - which is what economists do - you get a better and more complete picture of the investment trends in a region. When calculated properly, you'll easily find that Ghana is merely experiencing a spike, and is nowhere near being a major African investment destination, and there is no reason to suggest it will maintain 1st position in West Africa even 3 months from now.

All it will take is for the oil multinationals to come round to the new regulations set by NNPC, which was what led to a drop off in FDI, and Nigeria will be right back up again.
