Buhari is running Nigeria like Idi Amin cheesy..They are now printing empty fiat currencies just so they can loot but they still don't know the implications of this .....chei there is no hope for this economy again .. Zimbabwe and somalia will be a joke by 4th qtr

Which Buhari? You truly believe he is the one there? I don't think so. The earlier we know that we don't have a President, the better for us. We are afraid of speaking the truth so we are not killed. But they are killing us slowly.

What we're seeing is nothing but the LAW OF ECONOMIC DIMINISHING RETURN OF NIGERIA AS A FAILED STATE.
Nigeria as a country has expired! The only way out is disintegration.
Through disintegration, our new independent republics will fashion out economies that are based on our respective comperative advantages.
There's what you always say at the end your comments that am missing ! Some thing like Disintegration of Nigeria will self life , I don't know how you used to put it...

It is Götterdãmerung playing out before our eyes. The  unprecedented greed of politicians and impotence of a compromised legislative/judiciary have brought us to this sorry pass. Because of their looting we all have to go down!
we all share in the blame. Let's see if we would make same mistake again in 2023. The future of our country is bleak as Nigeria is fast going in extintion. But it's never too late to save her from imminent end

Respect for the people of the lower Niger - the Igbos. They vehemently predicted and rejected this evil administration, not just once, but twice and many times. We rejoiced when Buhari won thinking it was victory against the Igbos not minding their son wasn't the then incumbent. Now, they've been vindicated and all of us are paying the price of the wrong decision. Ndi Igbo, you have my respect henceforth.

I am very surprise that everyone on this tread is talking about and attributing the problem to President Buhari.. No one is talking about the Governors!... The Governors must have pushed the FG to go the route of money printing...
Obaseki is talking about an alternative means of revenue... Has any governor in Nigeria ever sourced for an alternative revenue stream?... All they are interested in is going to Abuja and share money...

The states budgets are all tailored toward the money coming from Abuja... No Governor in Nigeria is giving details of or properly accounting for their Internal Revenue.

We need to return to regional government.

1. You must have ONE valid ID (Driver's license, voter's card, Nigerian passport and National ID card)
2. 2 references with dorm or current account
3. Passport photograph
4 Utility bills (house rent or NEPA bill)

I don't know about other banks, but you must have a minimum of $100 balance that you cannot withdraw if you choose to open it with First Bank (that's the bank I use)

That's all.
Alright, thanks

I think the best thing that can happen to any Nigerian now is to start saving their money in US dollars. Buhari and his minions have ruined what's left of this shithole. That oldie has been singing diversification since 2015, yet they are still looking for crude oil in the north with Nigeria's hard-earned money.

Economically, Nigeria is in deep crisis, but we don't know. Like Obaseke pointed out, people are more interested in 2023 than surviving this year.
If the dullard continues to print money, the inflation that will hit this country will be unprecedented. After 6 years in office, I have yet to pick out far-reaching reforms that Buhari and Osinbajo implemented.

Railway is not Nigeria's immediate problem; fix our electricity so that people can empower themselves and production companies will incur less costs. If we continue to import, we will keep putting pressure on the US dollars and naira may hit $1/1k before the end of the year. I cannot blame our leaders alone though, I blame daft people who keep them in power just to have their people in government.

How all these debt will be cleared once that man leave office will be surprising.
It not just about his style of leadership the mind point is that he has bad luck, it doesn't affect him but his subjects. If he meet a university he will down grade it to a sec school, if he meet a sec sch he takes it to a primary school and in that order his life goes

Obaseki is just huffing & puffing. What is he doing to raise internal revenue for Edo state? The ratio of government spending to GDP is more important. In 2020, this ratio was 12%, lower than many countries in Africa.

Nigeria GDP was $400b; though still low. However This shows there is growth opportunity in private sector

Government at all levels are useless. They’re just pocketing FAAC money without developing infrastructures. We’ve all known for over 10yrs that demand for oil will decrease with move towards greener energy. Lamenting now about reduced oil revenue is dumb. instead how do We develop Information technology, agro processing, tourism, green energy, manufacturing? This is what he should be talking about

Is it about supporting buhari or the fact that there are people intentionally sponsoring hate and insecurity in this nation?

You don't care about that ?

What is wrong with you ?

And who laid the foundation for tribalism in the country? Has buhari being fair? Is it not his Clannishness and nepotism which has made each man want to tow their own paths?

How can you quench a fire from the top? So I ask, what's wrong with you?!

We need to return to regional government.

That's because resources that exist in state belong to the federal government.

That's why people are pushing for restructuring.

How can one save money in dollars?
Re: Obaseki: "FG Printed 60 Billion Naira For States To Share" by SmartPolician: 10:07pm On Apr 10, 2021
MomentMan:

How can one save money in dollars?

Open a dorm account.

The requirements are listed below:

When you have a reasonable amount to save, go to the aboki on the street, convert it to dollars and fund your dorm account. I know it's hard, but it's worth it. US dollars rarely depreciate against the naira. Even Nigerian government prefers to save in US dollars than our local currency. That's why we have foreign reserves.

If you have N10k in your account now, what that money can buy now will not be the same as what it can buy in December, 2021. Naira is depreciating at an alarming rate.
