An army corporal serving in Borno State has allegedly committed suicide after shooting himself in the head.

The deceased must have ended his life as a result of depression, one of his colleague serving with 212 Battalion, Maiduguri, has said.

The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday when the soldier was found lying next to his gun with a severe bullet wound in the head.

“Cpl Kila Jima from 152 Battalion, Banki on 10-4-2021 just carried his personal rifle and shot himself dead,” his colleague said in a text message.

The soldier was said to have shown some sign of depression before he eventually took his life.

According to his colleague, “He was among the soldiers involved in counterinsurgency campaigns who have overstayed in the theatre of operation.

“He had shown a lack of interest in the job because of depressive disorder.”

Army authorities in Borno State have yet to make clarification on the matter.

Soldiers and teachers ought to be the highest paid in the world especially Nigeria but the reverse is the case. In Nigeria, their reward is usually in heaven.

So sad he lost the fight!
So sad no one was around to have stopped him!
Now he's gone forever from the realm of the living mortals.
What a pity he lost the fight.

Why waste the bullet on yourself when you can become Nigeria's hero by waiting for one of those corrupt looting army generals or COAS or President himself to come visiting and you test the bullet on their devil ridden head and put your name on spotlight for life!

some overstayed yes.
not paid or fed No.
sometimes their feeding is being delayed due to uncontrollable circumstances but doesn't change the fact that they are well fed.
they are paid their salaries in full, paid monthly special force allowance and also paid combat bonuses.

nigeria teachers don't deserve high pay.
they've lost that privilege a long time ago..
their attitude of oppressing their subject and their careless nature that costs students a lot is enough reason to.

see my guy, don't believe everything you read in the news.
the media has it way of inflating the whole situation.
a private soldier in maiduguri receives about #55k as monthly salary.
#20k as monguno allowance (not regular)
#45k as special force allowance.
also they are being granted bonus for every successful operation.
I'm telling you this first hand.
it was in the same news we read that soldiers are still using weapons used in civil war which is pure lies
