I love this.this is a smart and good policy.what do they need 100,000 workers for? How can govt spend 90% of its revenue on 100,009 workers while leaving nothing for the remaining 9 million? Cc fergie001, anansek 5 Likes |

Kaduna state like most northern states in Nigeria have been living false life. They are supposed to go into agriculture for internally generated revenue. But they wait for crude oil money shared through federal allocations from ABUJA FCT. Governor Obaseki gave a warning this past week on the dangers of waiting for FREE MONEY. WILL NIGERIA GOVERNORS HEED THE WORDS OF GOVERNOR OBASEKI OF EDO STATE? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ld1uv19luEk 3 Likes |

If Nigeria breaks today, Northerners will suffer. I have just confirmed it. See most of them on jumbo federal allocation already going bankrupt just because of reduced allocation whereas states like Ebonyi and Anambra that had been receiving small allocations from FG are still paying salaries on time and building world class airports. |

Most agencies of government are just revenue guuping avenues. They are redundant, unproductive and portray a danger for the future. take an example of the ministry of works in most Nigeria state , they still contract out common road maintenance and most government rot away without basic maintenance. Then why on Earth do we have that agency if all they do is sign papers and sit in the office to gossip. Nevertheless, the political class needs to take the first step in cutting the enormous cost of government before they can lay the burden of the incompetency on the masses. 2 Likes 1 Share |

truth is bitter but lets say it is dangote otedola and bill gates working for govt? most big business owners get there money from business not by sitting in office for thirty days pushing pencils and staying at home during corona lockdown doing nothing and still getting paid if we say the truth we will die, if we dont we will die the truth is bitter but lets say the truth, most of the igr for most states are from, entrepreneurs and small businesses, many big men and companies dont pay taxes, they evade taxes kudos to HELLRUFAI, I DONT LIKE HIM BUT HE IS ON POINT ON THIS ONE 4 Likes |

Liposure: Totally agree. 100,000 running Kaduna state?... doing what?. He can cut that figure down to 25,000 while deploying technology to bridge any gaps. The problem is there are MDA's for everything under the sun just as at the Federal level. If Nigeria is properly structured you don't need more that five to seven items on the exclusive list covered by ministries, the rest can be handled by Commissions which are essentially private partnerships of which everyone is paid according to performance. No government liability there. Transportation, Petroleum, Communications, Works & Housing, Sports, Tourism, Science & Technology amongst many should not be government businesses but government regulatories, government refereeing only and Commissions suffice. If I was a governor I would reform my state's tax system and end blanket rates. I will rather collect targeted levies that are project or sector specific for exclusive items and sell specific bonds for PPP's. 2 Likes |

Truth be told, this is going to be a difficult move to execute but highly recommended not only for Kaduna state but the entire states of the federation and the Federal service personnel. Less than 1% of the population of a state cannot be consumint the entire monthly allocation. This same civil servant are also frustrating business in the name that they are not be paid well. Can't imagine people are employed only to be frustrating people trying to setup business that will pay tax that will be use to pay their salary. 1 Like |

owobokiri: Good points, but i think there maybe some holes in your analysis.. 1 - China curbed its population with it's one child policy which ended a few years ago spanning over 20years of the practise. 2 - Cjina does not have the extremely bad indices we have. 3 - if we are talking about Skilling up, we should be talking about factories and industries aswell that mops up that skilled populace. Which we dont have neither do we have the neccessary amenities to make one possible in the nearest future. 4 - The chinese Govt runs on communism and pays its industries the differences to makes its market the cheapest in the world, thereby rendering useless most indigenous industries of other nations. 5 - Yes population explosion is a major problem especially in Nigeria because it's only reasonable to cut down consumption when the available is no longer enough. Nigeria strongly needs the two child policy to sustain a united Nigeria.. 1 Like |

fergie001: True.most of these workers are even performing duplicating functions, they add little or nothing to the advancement of the state.but they should mostly be senior staffs between level 14 and 17 who have less than ten years to go...it is one of the problems of crs.most states spend their budget on these staffs |

One thing I have known this El-rufai for is to cause pain to people at a short notice. How can you just disengage workers like that. If it is not staff verification it is staff downsizing. So where is the due process in all this. Even if he must lay off, what arrangement has he put in place to at least cushion the effect, like paying immediately their gratuity and other benefits, or are you just realizing that your monthly allocation can not all go into recurrent expenditure. I can bet that the claim of 90 per cent of the states's revenue /allocation going into recurrent can not be true. Show us proof of this bogus assertion. Tomorrow now, you will hear: Kaduna state is recruiting 1000 teachers. Who is fooling who? 1 Like |

Esseite: China is no more a communist economy. Full blown capitalism.. Yes, the government has a strong influence in businesses, but it's just like what you had during the military era in Nigeria when we practiced what was called "mixed economy". They had a population in billions and decided to follow that trend. India has billions and has never stipulated such. In the end , efficient patriotic economic management of resources and politics are the reasons why China is where they are today. It should stun you that with almost 2 billion people, Chinese feed better, live in better cities, ride in better buses and trains and planes than Nigerians, because the state functions better. There are more unoccupied houses in china than in Nigeria. It all boils down to educating your citizens! If 50% off the Nigerian population are seriously educated and actively operating in the national economic activities, their output could be enough to take care of the remaining 50%! Do you know this? Check how much conglomerates like Hyundai and Samsung pay as taxes to the korean economy, vis a vis the number of people in their payroll. Same with the Toyotas and the big conglomerates in japan or Germany. It doesn't have to be university education for all, basic skills acquisition in domant sections of the economy can be helpful. Many Nigerians are not doing anything apart from retailing chinese goods.. Many good brains are wasting away.. That's the problem.. I know of few Nigerians who were petty traders in Nigeria but who have factories in China today.. It's the mismanagement in governance that brings out all the wrongs in the big population... 2 Likes |
