It is not your job to make laws. There are already made laws guiding every Nigerian.
Of course, that's why SW is sophisticated... We do things accordingly and in a diplomatic way..

Stripping non indigenes some of the things they have been benefiting from freely laws shall be applied soon across the 6 SW states.

Put that in a record... Though na slipping

Is there any State in Nigeria that don't need more money? where are you going to get more money for Lagos? Is the country not short of funds already?
The basic law of sound investment is to invest where it has to greatest impact...
If you have 10% of the population in Lagos, it makes more sense to invest in Lagos infrastructure.

The problem that I sensing with you is that suffered by most Nigerians...
You seem to think that the special status is about SHARING money rather than infrastructural investment.

The reality is that better infrastructure, schools, hospitals, in Lagos....
Means 10% of the population has access to better infrastructure and social services, a CATALYST for development.

Which is precisely why it deserves a special status... grin grin grin
How many other states can say the same (apart from the FCT)?

It already gets special status as the first destination for investment. All resident of Lagos made that possible.

With what has already been invested in Lagos, they should be able to survive on their own without thinking of sharing from the Niger Delta oil revenues.
States like Lagos in other countries bailout other smaller states.

Kano may have a huge Population like Lagos but its not generating enough money for the FG like Lagos.
Why are you guys even indulging the obvious mischief of that poster? Kano has a population of 9.4million while Lagos holds 22 million people in a much smaller total area.

What sensible or logically sound comparison has he made for Pete sake? Lagos total size is 1,171 square kilometers while Kano size is 20,131 km². Idiocy to compare both for anyone who knows anything about population density.

Kano has a population density of 470/km2 while Lagos population density is 17,079/km2 based on population of 20 million. So is it not obvious the baseless and mischievous comparison that distractive poster is making?

With a total population of 14,862,000 as of 2021 within the city proper, the Lagos metropolitan area has a total population of 21.3 million, making it the second largest metropolitan area in Africa after Cairo.

Then Kano needs special status as well cos its the commercial capital of northern Nigeria and is easily Nigeria’s most populated state.

Rivers as well cos it’s the commercial capital of oil revenue which Lagos state highly benefits from in terms of allocation.
Without your oil revenue Lagos can survive on her own meanwhile during obasanjo tenure he stopped giving Lagos allocation the state never complained about it.

Brilliant. Good to see that we still host analytical thinkers on this forum. Lagos, by far overpopulated, deserves special status for physically bearing the huge burden it does. Simple as that.

Lagos is an oil producing state, and for kano, commercial capital for what, that state is a fucking dead land no comparison to Lagos in any way.

Lagos already have a special status or do you think it is easy for oil companies to be operating in Niger Delta but have head offices in Lagos.
You think it is easy to lock up other seaports to enable Lagos monopolize the sector or it is easy to have foreign country embassies in Lagos as if it is our capital?
I can go on to name them...

Nice one Sanwo-Olu

Lagos is the home of 20million Nigerians from accross the 774 Local Government of Nigeria, that's like 10% of Nigeria's Population

Lagos needs special status, special allocation .... It has the busiest Sea and Land borders serving the entire Nation, it hosts most the busiest international airport, host many embassies, it has too many Federal roads abandoned since Abuja became capital

All these burdens makes Lagos require Special Status

.
Special? same lagos will arrest your okada, arrest your korope, arrest your keke and tell you to go back to your state.
The annoying this is that even those from Ondo, Ekiti, Osun will tell you to go back to your state and i begin to wonder if they are also in their state.
Some will say it is a yoruba land and i wonder if they always write yoruba land as their state of origin.

Federal government is generating trillions on Lagos as non oil revenue and not giving Lagos anything back give Lagos 13 percent back minimum like u doing in oil revenue state
You also think other states Dont produce non oil revenue to the federation? for example Rivers has money generated by sea ports in the state , the debate is not who generates more but they don't get money as just like Lagos state. The fundamental stroke that would permanently nip in the bud for ever is to champion for individual control of resources and a percentage given to the federal government as tax , in so doing Lagos, Rivers and any other state that wants survival will be so prosperous and the rest that wants puberty will remain where they are. Check out the US for example, California, Texas, Florida, Illinois are rlso rich that each of them are richer than some five states combined together, take California as a case study it's economy is rated the fifth biggest in the world only lesser than USA, China, Japan, Germany. Grow at your own pace will be the biggest catalyst to Nigerian prosperity, this is the type of development we want not this vicious circle of everyone wanting peanut share of the cake instead of cutting the cake into two half and taking the lion share.

Special Status Ke! Magic.

Just even present a bill on it, and all the states will be presenting special status Bill's.

Without Benue, nobody will eat yam in this country

Niger is generating a significant amount of electricity through Kanji Dam, we can't do without them

Onitsha is bearing a huge burden of commerce and distribution of goods, especially to middle belt and North east, it needs Federal Support

The population of Kano is huge and if not properly catered for can destabilize the whole of North East Nigeria and Lagos. Needs Special Status.

Least we forget:
Current population of Lagos is as a result of Obasanjo's ethnocentric agenda, where he found reasons to close Eastern ports including Warri. His then deputy utilized the opportunity to become the investor in ONNE.

Every good or service demand you see in Lagos is derived from other states. Lagos only consumes about 10% of goods imported, every other thing is passed on. Meaning that if you allow other ports to flourish, those demands will still be satisfied. Nothing special about Lagos, except the parochial operation of a single port in a country with miles of coastline.

Those of us who work in Lagos pay about 30% of all out earnings including allowances as tax, long before the FG adopted same cut throat taxing system instituted by Tinubu. The Question is what is the money being used for? Luxury provision in VI and Ikoyi where the rich and politicians reside. The rest of Lagos are slums. Even in so called new areas Lekki, once you go past Lekki Phase 1, every where returns to the Chaotic landmark of Socio Pathic Black Man.

What exactly has the billions Lagos already collects as revenue been used for?

1. Tinubu political career- When you pay a company stupid percentage for collecting revenue. Till today, Tinubus political structure is still funded by Touts extorting us whenever we commute, for the so called Area Fathers, who are the real people that ensures only Tinubus anointed win any election in Lagos state- A brand of Democracy.

2. Fashola had the opportunity to end traffic in Lagos by building light cost effective rail lines down Lekki axis or ikorodu Road axis, but no. He spent the funds on a 10 lane road down to Badagri for god knows what, it is still unfinished. But even when finished has no impact on Lagos number one problem, traffic.

3. Was it not last year, we heard of how the speaker of the state house was milking as much as he wants.

Make them go rest jare. Seems the current Governor has some ideals but he should work with what he has already, it's is huge compared to other states

4. Least I forget, most of the big companies, simply pay income taxes for all their operation spread across Nigeria to Lagos State. Yet they have employees in Benin, Enugu, Kano etc. Lagos is already stealing from other states due to poor accountability and the ethnicity of the people who are often in charge of managing these companies.

The voting part is very important. We don't want outsiders voting in YORÙBÁ lands. Anyone who's not okay with this should go back to their region. Also, all our police officers should be YORÙBÁs. New developments would come up with time.

Just decided to highlight the voting part. We don't want òmó Igbo or Aboki people choosing our leaders with us.
