its everywhere. Even here in sokoto metropolis I pay about 30k per annum for a small single bedroom self-contain. The best is to get land n build urz

shocked 30k for self contain, very verry verrry cheap. So so cheap that it doesn't even get you a single room here in Lagos or even a Batcher in PH.

Ok bro! Na mouth government go take do an? How much tax have you paid all your life? Sorry if I am sounding rude but where do we expect the government to get the money from? Please, where? You sound so stupid. Where do they get the ones they are looting and the ones they use to pay themselves oversized salary and allowances.
Stop this your slave reasoning!

I see Nigerians going back to mud houses with rafia palm roofs, because of hardship, I see youth both male and female walking nakéd due to their inability to afford clothes, I see all the top government officials being murdered, I see a new government arising to save Nigerians. This I have seen.

This might be the best you’ve seen if it happens bro!

So what should those of us in Lagos do?

Lagos is the worst. A single room selfcon is 350k now and that's even the least you can get cos some are 650 to750k in my area. Then Three bedroom flat is around 1.6 to 2 million naira per annum.

God help us with this housing issue.

Where is your area?

you sound so foolish and myopic. Also ask yourself, where do they get the ones they loot, the money they use to pay themselves oversized salary and undeserved allowances. Stop this your suffering and smiling mentality.

I will not insult you cause you are talking foolishly and ignorantly. Go and check the breakdown of Federal and State government revenue for the past 10 years. You have to look at the numbers, run the numbers and do a reallocation and come back and rewrite the emotional rubbish/trash you wrote up there. I work with FACTS bro!

Eradicating corruption will not change our circumstances much. It will only help us to prioritise needs better and introduce sanity and discipline into our budgetary and monitoring systems.

A plot of land bought for #2.3 million in 2013 in Awka is now been sold at #11 million. The agents be doing as if the money is been picked at the backyard.
Rent is very costly in Awka I can attest to that .
Is a place I visit often.
I don’t understand the rationale behind increasing the rent in an occupied building, not as if they even carry out maintenance when another tenant is packing in.
Awka is inhabited by mostly working boys and big men and students that can pay whatever rent the landlords demands
The more reason the landlords no get pity for an average man there trying to survive

Bro tell us how much you pay. You don’t have to upload your tax receipt to prove it, I am ready to take you by your own words.
I don't need to prove anything to you......
Just know that in the absence of government funded projects, situations like THIS will surely arise

At least you can get some modern houses at Onitsha, what about places like abakiliki , Enugu? House rents are as high as PH but structures are obsolete, colonial, houses still using pit latrine, with no running water yet landlords charge heavens rent.

I actually thought rent is reasonable in Uyo. But you may be right that rent is out of reach for the common man because Uyo is a civil service city.

Sysdatek:
rent hikes are everywhere

even Uyo has experienced a serious rent hike
there is a scarcity of new houses in reference to new population

This is the problem with some Nigerians, towards the end of this write-up, I saw something like "those blaming the landlord should inquire of the cost of building materials" my question is "are the houses in question just been built, or are they old houses? what has the current cost of building materials got to do with a decade or more old house? some people just reason anyhow.
Please blame not oga landlord, but blame the dwindling naira
Do you know if the landlord is now feeding from the house rent, so you want him to go hungry because he bought cement at 20 naira 30 years ago, no no no

Ripple effect of bad economy.

If you see how much building materials be now, you go pity landlords.
