Night 2 couldn't live up to d high standards of night 1, but the triple threat main event more than made up for a lackluster night.

WWE RAW REVIEWS RECAPS AND REACTIONS

Welcome to the Raw after WrestleMania.
Okay so I’ll just get this out of the way - this was a very mixed bag for me. Some stuff was good, some stuff was bad. And some stuff was really bad.
And I’m warning you now... you’re not going to be happy if you’re a fan.
I have said this repeatedly but I’ll do it again - if you like this, more power to you. I liked it when Alexa Bliss was first getting psychologically mind tricked into giving people the Sister Abigail. It was cool!
And once the magic started, it lost me. But if it didn’t lose you, that’s fine! In fact, that’s good! That means it’s working for some. Wrestling is subjective entertainment. We won’t all like everything.
But I like you because you like wrestling.
But a good thing that came from this show, storylines are progressing to the next pay-per-view... WrestleMania Backlash.

Lily
Alexa Bliss took us to her playground and said that we’re probably wondering why she did what she did.
A girl was lost, and then rescued and taught by the darkness until the darkness went away. Then she realized that she never actually needed the darkness after all. She could do it all on her own.
In the end, the end used what she was taught to destroy the darkness. She asked if the female species was truly the deadliest.
She then introduced her new friend, Lily. And then Lily snarled at us.
And then Corey Graves said “Demented creepiness is in the past, because the present is AWESOME!” as Miz’s music played.
You might not believe me, but I like Alexa Bliss. I do! WWE is who you should really be hating on. Seriously. They want to have their cake and eat it too.
One moment a doll snarls at the camera and then Graves is pushing aside that “demented creepiness” because YAY MIZ!
Or a “box-like structure” appears ring side and everyone’s dumbfounded at what that is and “WHAT COULD IT MEAN?” Have you not been paying attention for the last 4 months, Byron?
I have a question for the creative team - Vince, if Alexa didn’t want the darkness anymore and wanted to put an end to it, why did she torment the guy who lit the darkness on fire and killed him? Couldn’t she have just resurrected him a few weeks later and did all this?
And we’re going to get to Orton in a little bit.
I don’t like this. And what’s worse, it may actually be that Alexa is now breaking away from The Fiend and will be introducing this stuff to the women’s division with her new pal. I was ready for this to be over with after WrestleMania.
Now it’s just getting started. Oh goodness.

New friends?
MVP was in the ring and said that McIntyre was a formidable opponent, but it’s fine being number two to Lashley.
Drew came out and said he made a mistake but next time he’ll not make a mistake when he gets his rematch. Then Braun came out, and he said that Drew belongs at the back because he lost, and Shane McMahon lost at his hands.
And then Orton came out and said that the Fiend and Bliss are behind him and he can now focus on what he’s best at - getting the WWE championship. Adam Pearce came out to make the match official for the main event.
Orton just decided that all those months of physical torment and anguish - choking up black goo, getting shot at with fireballs, seeing himself in a screen talking with a demonic voice, the ONE RKO at WrestleMania ended all of that. Right. Huh?
So in the main event, Orton and McIntyre worked together to put down Strowman, but of course that didn’t last. Orton did the RKO to Strowman and went for the pin, but McIntyre gave him the Claymore Kick and pinned Orton to win.
And then MVP’s music played and as McIntyre was distracted, Mace and T-Bar attacked him. Yes, Mace and T-Bar, former RETRIBUTION members could potentially be new Hurt Business members with MVP and Lashley. Maybe. We don’t know yet.
IF that’s the case, that makes less than zero sense to me. But, if Mace and T-Bar are now hired guns, I might not mind that, depending on how WWE do this. They would be a pretty good tag team for the brand, which was my hope for them after the RETRIBUTION break up.
Wait and see I guess!

The Queen returns and gets right back to work
The announcers talked up her wanting to be on WrestleMania and not getting on the card.
She talked about not having her smile because she wasn’t at the the big show. She talked up being a genuine person. It wasn’t her fault she wasn’t on WrestleMania, it wasn’t her fault Asuka needed a tag team partner, or that her dad was acting like a fool, or even that Lacey Evans got pregnant.
She gave kudos to Rhea Ripley for being the biggest snake in the locker room. And now Asuka got a rematch instead of her getting a shot. She listed all the women who were on WrestleMania and said none of them compare to her.
Charlotte Flair is the opportunity for all women. She’s won’t apologize for being that damn good, and we’re all going to bow down to her.
This was a great return heel promo from Charlotte. She’s in her element.
She sounded really natural too, which has always been a criticism in the past. She’s always been the best as a heel, and WWE likes to throw in babyface runs. All the way back to when Becky first turned on her, WWE thought that they would get Charlotte over as a babyface.
Asuka and Rhea Ripley had a rematch for the women’s championship, and the match wasn’t that good. But what happened at the end was the biggest thing you’ll want to know.
Flair interfered and took out both women. It was kind of funny that the referee was facing the ramp and only realized Charlotte was there when she attacked Asuka, but hey... semantics.
She called Ripley overconfident and kicked her into the LED apron. She then went boo hoo and faked tears and said “I’M BACK!” That was awesome. I said last night that Charlotte and Rhea would be a great program, but now Asuka still is involved so this could be really interesting.

Witches be wildin’
So, I have no clue what to say about this.
It would appear, as I said in the Bliss portion, that Bliss has moved on to the women’s division and Bray Wyatt is back in the Fun House looking for a new beginning?
Am I getting that right?
How does The Fiend just... move on? Sort of similar to Orton’s way of just moving on because hey they split so... other things to do!
I will say it was nice seeing Ramblin’ Rabbit, Huskus, Abby, and Mercy again.
Uh... yeah. I’m puzzled.

The Rest
Bobby Lashley defeated Riddle
The show started with Lashley and MVP entering the building to applause, and Riddle scootered up to him and challenged him for a match. So Lashley just... gave it to him. After calling him a loser, of course.
Lashley attacked Riddle before he could get into the ring and dominated for the first half of the match. Lashley started tossing everything that belonged top Riddle around the ThunderDome. First his scooter got tossed into oblivion, and then Riddle himself got tossed over the barricade. After some cross faces to Riddle, Lashley literally just put his foot on Riddle’s neck and held the ropes for more pressure. Riddle started to gain momentum and Lashley put a stop to it immediately. Finally Riddle hit some MMA moves and hit Lashley with a high knee. Riddle went for the Floating Bro and Lashley countered into the Hurt Lock for the win.
What a dominant showing from Lashley. I didn’t really get why this match was a thing, but it felt like they were establishing that Riddle’s going to move on to lower card comedy/mid card title feud guy. That’s fine. He’s a guy that fits in that role perfectly. I hope that Lashley gets a dominant run post WrestleMania like Drew did. He has a legitimate Brock Lesnar aura about him. This is the full timer that holds the title and needs to be slayed by a rising up and comer.

Miz and Morrison defeated Damian Priest
Before the match, Maryse was the Miz TV guest and all they did was promote Miz and Mrs. but what was also happening was Miz was focusing a bit too much on Maryse and brushing Morrison to the side. Damian Priest came out to defend Bad Bunny to the Miz. So Miz and Morrison both thought about having a one on one match with him, and Maryse told them to have a 2 on 1 handicap. So they did.
And Priest lost. Already. Looking forward to this!

The Viking Raiders defeated Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander
This was a nice return for Ivar of the Viking Raiders. This dude was out for about 7 months and that’s crazy. Ivar tossed Alexander into the Raiders corner and hit a flurry of punches. Benjamin tagged in and knocked Erik down with knees. A suplex got him a two count. Alexander went to work on the mid section and Benjamin did a slam and got another two count. Ivar got the hot tag and did the senton, but couldn’t get a pin as Alexander tagged back in. Ivar did a double clothesline and then the Viking Raiders did the Viking Experience for the win.

New Day defeated Elias and Jaxson Ryker
Elias thought that his guitar was making trombone sounds. No, seriously. Good win for the former tag champions, and I just now noticed that the new tag champions weren’t on the show. That’s an odd decision. Though maybe it was better that way.

Mandy and Dana decided to get counted out?
Nia and Shayna were making fun of Mandy’s slip at WrestleMania, and Mandy walked up to Nia and slapped her. So they had a match, and Nia slipped and got angry. Dana grabbed Mandy and they walked up the ramp, with Dana saying “Calm down it’s not worth it.” HUH?!? They were in the middle of a match. Dana and Mandy just decided mid match eh she’s mad it’s not worth it. Wow. Great job.

WWE NXT REVIEWS RECAPS AND REACTIONS

Karrion Kross didn’t drown after all
Even though Finn Bálor promised to take Karrion Kross into the deep waters and let him sink beneath the surface, it was Kross who prevailed at night two of Takeover: Stand & Deliver. Having successfully completed his quest to become NXT’s world champion for a second time, Kross (and Scarlett) decided to open the show and let the world know what the future holds now that he’s back on top.
To summarize what he had to say in about half as many words: Finn Bálor tried and failed to stop me from taking what was mine, I run NXT now until I decide not to any more, and if any of you are man enough to take this championship from me COME AND TRY. Even if that was scripted for him to say from start to finish, I give him the credit due for delivering it well.

Santos Escobar’s open challenge
Let’s make this simple — in the words of John Cena, cruiserweight champion Santos Escobar said “If you want some, COME GET SOME.” His ladder match victory over Jordan Devlin unified the titles and solidified his claim to be royalty in lucha libre. Now it was time for a new usurper to lay a claim to the throne and try to become king.
KUSHIDA was the man who stepped up to answer his challenge, knocking Escobar out of the ring with a dropkick before the match could officially get underway, then working over the arm and shoulder looking for the hoverboard lock. That makes sense right? But that’s not how the match ended. Escobar had spent the majority of the commercial break and return from it softening up KUSHIDA. Escobar hit the backstabber and went for the phantom driver, seemingly having the match won, but after a series of reversals on the mat KUSHIDA hooked the legs and Escobar was down for the 1-2-3. We have a new champion!
Backstage Jordan Devlin told KUSHIDA he was in luck because “the travel Gods” had intervened to send him home, but when he returned... he’d take back what was his. KUSHIDA had a two word response: “ANY, TIME.”
We will keep an eye on what's next for Santos

The arrival of Franky Monet
The artist formerly known as Taya Valkyrie has been letting her little dog run around the Capitol Wrestling Center for weeks. I’m going to be honest with you all — I prefer big dogs that shake the room when they go WOOF. That’s actually a good description of Franky Monet. She’s a big dog with a loud bark and an even meaner bite. Despite her ridiculous new name I was anxious to see her debut on the NXT brand.
Monet used her TV time to interrupt the championship celebration of Raquel González and proclaim that the “WERA LOCA” is here to rule NXT. They exchanged taunts in both English and Spanish, with González promising that if Monet interrupted her again, she’d shove that little puppy straight up her CULO.
Once Monet departed Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair arrived, each getting their own entrance and a chance to show González respect.

MSK vs. Drake Maverick & Killian Dain
WWE wasted no time booking a title defense for MSK on NXT’s first Tuesday night show. Thankfully it was an easy choice who they would face since Drake Maverick & Killian Dain won a #1 contender’s match on the pre-show of Takeover night two. I found it highly implausible that MSK would lose less than a week after winning a triple threat for the vacant titles, but let’s be real — that’s exactly why Maverick & Dain were their first challengers.
It was a valiant effort from the challengers, so much so that MSK actually had some heat for cutting off the ring to give Maverick a two-on-one beatdown. Perhaps this was the wrong team for MSK to face if you don’t want them to turn heel. Example — Nash Carter giving Drake Maverick a bronco buster in the corner.
If you’re going to do the big moves at least do them to the big man.
At the end of the day though Dain was unable to save his buddy from MSK’s double team finisher, and to make matters worse Imperium hit the ring to lay him out afterward.

Leon Ruff and Isaiah Scott aren’t done yet!
They battled before the gauntlet match. They battled in the gauntlet match. Now they will battle AFTER the gauntlet match. The feud between Isaiah “Swerve” Scott and Leon Ruff is far from over. At this rate the two of them could battle each other for the rest of 2021 — not that I would be complaining that much if they did.
Even though Scott picked up the win with his JML driver, it settled nothing between the two men whatsoever, as Ruff jumped him during an interview with McKenzie Mitchell and rammed him in the head with a rolling cart (presumably production equipment) until officials dragged him away. THIS FEUD MUST CONTINUE!

What’s next for North American champion Johnny Gargano?
I’ll tell you what — an eight person tag team match on Tuesday night! The Way would take on Dexter Lumis, Bronson Reed, and women’s tag team champions Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart in a match where more people were looking to settle grudges with each other.
This was the main event and it probably needed to be since it was a cluster. Even though it was ostensibly mixed tag rules, that didn’t stop the men from working with the women at all times, and the referee had little to no control over the proceedings. This was mostly an excuse for comedy spots so if that’s not your bag, don’t go looking for highlights or a replay. If on the other hand you enjoy seeing Candice LeRae dangle in the air while she tries unsuccessfully to give Bronson Reed a suplex off the top rope, this is perfect for you. Indi Hartwell laid herself out on purpose multiple times just to get Dexter Lumis to swoon and carry the helpless damsel to the back, and when he took the bait, she winked at the camera.
Just like that a four-on-four match became a three-on-three, and Reed got his revenge after a failed title challenge at Takeover, hitting his Tsunami splash onto a prone Gargano to pick up the win for his team. The Way left in disarray as the show went off the air with the women’s tag team champions and their hulking partner celebrating in the ring.

Mercedes Martinez vs. Jessi Kamea
This was a literally LAST SECOND addition to an already stacked show.
This was a squash match. Don’t be fooled by the fact Jessi Kamea took the first minute of the match on offense. Once Martinez hoisted Kamea onto her shoulders in a fireman’s carry and slammed her down to the mat, it was immediately over with a decisive F, U.
Martinez chased down Robert Stone and strangled him until he coughed up the other half of the fee he promised her, then stormed to the announce desk to deliver a message to the new NXT women’s champion.

A few miscellaneous notes
A video package aired putting over William Regal signing Sarray “Warrior of the Sun” (a/k/a Sareee) to a contract with NXT after “years of negotiation.”

Roderick Strong handed William Regal a sealed manila envelope and said he was done. Regal expressed his regrets it had come to this but welcomed him to come back any time.

Tommaso Ciampa said that while he and Timothy Thatcher hadn’t won every fight, they had their heart tested in battle and came out stronger, so now they were coming for MSK.

Last but not least Pete Dunne reminded us that he had a win over KUSHIDA at Takeover, proving he was the best technical wrestler in all of WWE, daring anyone to prove him wrong. What’s next for the Bruiserweight? Getting back to championship gold.

Grade: B
I understand that the post-Takeover show needed to accomplish a lot of things, but at times it felt like they were trying to herd cats with so many angles going on. They largely succeeded but (arm chair quarterback time) I would have done this a little differently. Mercedes Martinez didn’t need a squash match on a show this busy. If it was absolutely necessary to do, I would have cut a couple of the Takeover highlight packages to give her and Jessi Kamea more time. I don’t believe an eight person tag was necessary for Reed to get a non-title pinfall. A simpler two on two with Theory & Gargano vs. Reed & Lumis could have achieved the same result, but they can’t resist putting Hartwell on camera (you can’t blame them for that). There was just a little too much talking and slightly too little pro wrestling, but Escobar and KUSHIDA had a hell of a match that brought the whole show up. That’s the last thing I would have changed — that should have been the night’s main event.

WWE SMACKDOWN REVIEWS RECAPS AND REACTIONS

The future of SmackDown is bright.
We have some new champions, we have a new commentary team, and things are looking up.
While all of this is good, SmackDown, and WWE as a whole, still feel stagnant. Raw was Raw - generally bad, complete nonsense with most of the feuds, and lazy. Usual stuff.
SmackDown felt better, even though it was still repetitive. Pat McAfee is now on commentary. I didn’t really like him, nor did I care about his stint in NXT, but man did I enjoy him here. He feels natural and to be honest, quite refreshing. He has an energy about him that feels good. I’m happy with this.
Even though this show was good, some of these decisions made were puzzling. Two feuds continuing feel good, and I talk about them in a bit. I think once WrestleMania Backlash passes us, it’ll get better.
We wear gold in this house

The Street Profits came out for Bianca Belair’s championship celebration.
They said that they will clean up the tag team division later and send the Dirty Dawgz back to 1986.
After a video package of Bianca winning the title, Ford introduced her and she looked stunning.
Belair said she feels blessed, and despite setbacks and struggles, she never stopped believing it was possible. A year ago, she never would have imagined someone saying she’d win the women’s title in the main event of WrestleMania. But then she said she probably would have said it would happen.
You should never apologize to anyone if you truly are the bEST.
She thanked Sasha Banks for her part in the historic main event and said she left something for Sasha to remember her. (That would be the gnarly whiplash across the stomach.) Belair then said this was about all the little girls watching and saw themselves when they looked at her.
Sasha Banks was interviewed right after, and couldn’t even get words out as she looked down at that mark Belair was referring to. This was perfect.
Then Bayley was interviewed and said that Bianca was crying before her match because she thought she couldn’t win, and now she’s being arrogant. We don’t want that in a champion, so she’s going to fix it and challenge her for the SmackDown women’s championship. This was also perfect.
All of these promos were excellent. Bianca was presented as a true star, and finally having Montez and Bianca together after all this time was great. “We only wear gold in this house” was what she said to Montez before his match. I love her.
It would have been even better if Sasha and Bianca were able to be like this since Bianca’s win at the Royal Rumble but let’s not think about the past. It’s not about all that. It’s about the future.
Bianca will only get better and crate even more history as the champion. It’s looking great for the EST right now.

The old and the new
Roman Reigns asked Paul Heyman to talk about the men he beat at WrestleMania.
Heyman putt both Edge and Daniel Bryan over, and said Reigns did exactloy what he said that he was going to do - smash em’ stack em’ and pin em’. Reigns said he’ll probably never be put in a triple threat again after he eradicated two Hall of Famers. Who would want to be humiliated like that?
Cesaro’s music played, and he walked down to the ring and got in Reigns’ face. Cesaro went to get a microphone and the Reigns clan left the ring.
Heyman was interviewed later about Cesaro’s challenge. He said what happened Sunday wasn’t a rain delay, it was tears from angels as they thought of the beating Reigns was going to hand Bryan and Edge. Seth Rollins had to lower himself to face a “knuckle dragging, slack jawed, buck tooth, Swiss quibbling Cesaro.” My god.
He called Cesaro a joke, and he would put an end to the joke by giving Cesaro what he wants - Cesaro one on one against... Jey Uso.
WWE really wanted us to know that Cesaro is special, didn’t they? I don’t think they realize that we been knowing that. All they were doing on this show was proving it to themselves.
In the main event, Uso did his best to hurt the “neanderthal’s” arms so he wouldn’t be able to hit his moves. He kept draping Cesaro’s arm over the ropes and pulling for maximum tear. But Cesaro did a vertical suplex and that clearly meant Cesaro is better than your silly games, Jey.
Cesaro did the corkscrew uppercut for a near fall. Uso fought out of the swing and hit a neckbreaker for a two count. He slapped Cesaro in the face and that was what sealed his fate. Cesaro gave him a clothesline and then swung Uso around and Rollins interfered to cause a disqualification.
Well... okay then. I was really getting into the Cesaro/Reigns stuff, and then oh hey Seth we’re going back to that, huh?
Post WrestleMania shows should not make me say “Oh, running this again?” But when the next pay-per-view is literally called “WrestleMania Backlash” it pretty much says that most of this will be ran back.
And how about no Edge or Daniel Bryan on this show? If anyone was going to come out at the end, I thought it would be one of them! Where were they? Like I said in my opening remarks, I enjoyed this show, but these decisions were puzzling.
That plus the continuation of everything (except one that I talk about below) made the overall feeling of SmackDown just okay, not great.

Fight forever
Sami Zayn said that WrestleMania was supposed to be his crowning achievement.
Logan Paul was supposed to be how the documentary got out to the world, but Paul’s mind was poisoned by Owens and the WWE Universe.
Zayn pointed to Michael Cole as another poison, as the corporate mouthpiece, and McAfee just agreed and and started pointing at Cole. Hahahahaha.
He said that he got distracted in the match by Paul because he was thinking about his thoughts, and that’s how Kevin Owens won. Tonight, there’s no Logan Paul or toxic fans, so his mind is clear. Owens came out for the WrestleMania rematch.
Owens was sent to the corner and exploded out of it with a running senton. Owens gave Zayn a very loud chop, and then a clothesline. Zayn went to the top rope and did a sunset flip powerbomb for a two count. McAfee asked what that was, and then said that was the coolest move he’d ever seen. I mean he was literally put in a CANADIAN DESTROYER in his match with Adam Cole, but sure buddy.
Zayn tried to escape but Owens brought him back in. He went for the pop up powerbomb and Zayn avoided it. Zayn avoided a stunner, and then poked Owens eye and retreated, and Owens won via count out.
Owens ran up the ramp and threw Zayn back into ring and did the stunner.
Sami and Kevin are #FightForever territory for me, so WrestleMania Backlash sounds like another excellent blow off, minus Logan Paul.

I need help with this
Okay.
So when Apollo Crews officially turned heel, it felt awesome.
Crews was getting a really great presentation, even when he started with the Nigerian accent. The accent was new, but I was getting into it.
WrestleMania came along, and the Nigerian drum fight was really just a street fight with drums and gongs.
And then, Crews got help from Babatunde Dabba Kato... Commander Azeez. On this show, Crews introduced him and said that he put Big E down with the Nigerian Nail.
My problem - I know who this guy is. So introducing him as a new person when he was literally on Raw a few months ago, not as a Nigerian Commander, but as a Raw Underground regular.
This promo felt off. Help me out. Am I the only one?

The rEST
The Dirty Dawgz defeated The Street Profits
Ziggler had a great drop kick to start, and then Ford tagged in and did his own drop kick and went for a quick pin. Roode tagged in and Ford ducked him and the Dawgz collided. Roode was tackled and given a corkscrew elbow by Dawkins, but he turned around and did a nice spinebuster. Roode tagged Ziggler and Dawkins sent him into the corner. Ford and Roode tagged and Ford hit a wicked clothesline on Ziggler. A kip up and standing moonsault by Ford almost got the victory. Dawkins tagged in as Ford flew over him to take out the champs. But Ziggler tagged in when Ford wasn’t looking and did the Zig Zag for the win.
Well, I was a bit disappointed with this. Ziggler and Roode have been doing well, but it felt like the interaction with Bianca from before was to set up a Street Profits win here. However, it does make me think that the Dawgz will be set up for a feud with The Mysterios and that will be the next babyface tag team to take them out. Yes, I’m still on The Mysterios as tag champs and you can’t talk me out of it!

Rey Mysterio defeated Otis
Otis started by bulldozing over Rey and dumping him over his head. He slid Rey out of the ring and I almost thought Rey was going to spike his head on the floor. Rey did a senton and bounced off the ropes right into Otis’ arms. McAfee called the 619 and Rey went to the top rope and pinned Otis in a quick but fun bout. This was Pat McAfee’s first match on commentary and he was very good. Otis and Rey had some good chemistry, as do Dominik and Gable. This should be a fun feud.

Natalya defeated Shayna Baszler
This has to stop.

A champ that doesn't show up to the show he is a champ in? WWE is not boring without him

I also heard that he don't go to shows like make a wish, Wwe hall of fame night, he just stays at home doing nothing.
He is a crazy introvert.
I also read about him, he said "he cares about his family alone and no one else" cheesy

WWE RAW REVIEWS RECAPS AND REACTIONS

WWE managed to hit that lull period after WrestleMania just as fast as 2020, with the Raw After Mania, traditionally the biggest episode of the year, looking every bit like a forgettable mid-summer offering leading to some B pay-per-view no one will watch.
This week felt like more of the same.
We did get some new directions, some questions were answered, some went unanswered, and the WWE traditional of false advertising continued.

A shooter
I really enjoyed Charlotte Flair’s promo in her return last week, to the point I called it her best work ever. I was told how incredibly wrong I was for this, and I do appreciate being disagreed with on that. Maybe I was caught up in the fire of the promo itself. I stand by my argument but some of y’all made me sway.
She was back at it again on this show and now she’s shooting!
One of the things her boyfriend, Andrade, mentioned in an interview after he was released by WWE was that Charlotte isn’t well liked by her co-workers out of what he claimed was jealousy and issues with how stiff she works, among other things. So, naturally, she made that a part of her on-screen persona here.
She called them “rats” while saying “they don’t like each other as much as they don’t like me” and how they’re all lame and fake to each other. They’re just pissed because she’s the big star and they don’t like that.
What makes this really great is it’s less reality era and more taking something rooted in reality and just turning it up a bit. It’s fitting this comes one night after the A&E Biography on Stone Cold Steve Austin, one of the biggest stars in the history of the industry, who became as much by basically being himself and just cranking that dial up to 11.
Flair’s a great heel in this way because she’s so easy to hate when she’s being like this that you can go ahead and admit you absolutely loved it when Asuka finally shouted her down with “Charlotte, tonight I’ll beat you, BITCH!”
And then she did beat her, with an assist from Raw Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley, who was paying Charlotte back for last week, and Flair absolutely lost her shit and attacked the referee a couple times as the show was going off the air.
I’m all the way in on this.

What a strange story
You know, it’s amazing how easily triggered people get these days, according to beloved babyface Drew McIntyre, who threw that line into his promo putting himself over as the guy who won a triple threat last week to earn another shot at Bobby Lashley and the WWE championship. Seemed strange!
Also strange: T-BAR and MACE being asked about their affiliation with MVP and The Hurt Business and responding by listing off random animals before the latter mentioned a saber-toothed tiger and the former used that to say they would make McIntyre extinct in a match later.
More strange for ya: During said match, which started as a 2-on-1 Handicap, Braun Strowman — one of the easily triggered mentioned by McIntyre earlier — coming out and deciding to team up with McIntyre. He was a great teammate to him! What a swell, triggered guy!
By the way, MVP swore earlier these guys aren’t affiliated with The Hurt Business at all. I want to believe that’s just a story beat and, actually, they absolutely are but literally everything WWE has ever done tells me it’s entirely possible they’re just big dumb idiots attacking some guys and the two stories will never actually connect.
They were both unmasked here, which wasn’t really played up all that much but did lead to a great spot where both got slapped upside the head with their masks. RETRIBUTION is dead and gone but they’re still acting like they did while they were in the group and going by the tremendously stupid names they were given by Ali, who they kicked out. Why would they still be doing that?
Strange!
This is all supposed to be building to another McIntyre vs. Lashley match, by the way. Bobby did not appear on this show.

All the rest
False advertisement: WWE spent the week promoting Randy Orton vs. Braun Strowman, up to the day of the show, and then completely ditched that idea without a word in favor of the aforementioned inexplicable team up with Drew McIntyre. This is an incredibly lame thing that WWE really needs to get out of the habit of doing. Orton was left getting pissed off at Riddle for interrupting him during an interview, then went out and lost a match to him. They played this up like a huge win for Riddle, but I’m left wondering how this best serves anyone considering Orton’s win at WrestleMania.

Naomi & Lana def. Jax & Baszler: There’s a talk to be had about the women’s tag team division and how it’s an absolute mess that shouldn’t exist at all if WWE isn’t actually going to dedicate real time for it but the best example of why it sucks is that there aren’t any actual tag teams just singles wrestlers deciding to hang out together, which is really just WWE’s way of cramming as many women onto the show as possible without actually dedicating real TV time to them. The women’s division is generally just “top singles program” and “everyone else thrown into the tag scene.” It’s very bad. Now, the main story of that scene is Shayna Baszler getting fed up with Nia Jax costing her and maybe a breakup coming. Which, that will probably happen right around when they need a new challenger for the top singles program.

Lilly and Alexa: I suppose I should mention Alexa Bliss here, seeing as she sort of fits outside what I just mentioned. Then again, she’s now taking a backseat to a literal doll named Lilly. I guess we’re to believe she’s going to run through the women’s division thanks to the newfound powers she has courtesy of said doll. This might work for certain segments of the audience but I am not in any of those segments, and I have zero patience for this kind of nonsense at this point in my life. I’m here to see conflict rooted in legitimacy solved via simulated violence rooted in reality. This just isn’t for me.

Open challenge: I quite enjoyed Sheamus on this show. Adam Pearce tried to goad him into doing the old John Cena open challenge gimmick now that he’s United States champion and Sheamus went out and just made a mockery of the whole thing. Then he savagely beat up Humberto Carrillo. I’d love if this was a weekly recurring segment, where he issues a challenge and then never lets the match actually get started, instead just beating people up before they ever get a chance.

Elias def. Kofi Kingston: This was a surprise. Elias played some guitar, Xavier Woods interrupted him and got to flex his bass playing skills (he’s been learning in his spare time), and then a match happened that saw Elias beat Kingston fair and square, right there in the middle of the ring. It was such a surprise to see that kind of straight forward booking, I didn’t know how to react to it. Still don’t.

Jake Paul: WWE really wanted to get a reference in to the guy who just did pro wrestling better than WWE does pro wrestling, so they had Damian Priest call The Miz as delusional as Paul is for thinking he’s a real fighter. Cute. Priest beat Miz in a match later that wasn’t terribly interesting.

Viking Raiders def. Alexander & Benjamin: The breakup of The Hurt Business sucked, and now the talented duo who were booted out are doing jobs for the team who just returned from injury. That wouldn’t be so bad if it was for a story but it definitely feels like they’re just there to heat up Erik & Ivar. That feels bad.

This show wasn’t terrible but it also wasn’t all that good.
