F1 visa denied in 2019. Now studying for MSc in Germany and want to transfer to US. Got an admission with partial funding already. What should I look out for at the interview. Interview will be in Germany.

I seem not to understand why people still try to opt in for the U.S even after travelling to other countries. Is it that other countries like Germany, China, Europe etc are not suitable to build a career as an international student?. Just a thought anyway.

As regards your interview, I think you need to demonstrate strong home ties. However, let the bosses come and give their experiential contribution.

I run a company that has a Bank account that handles some cash flow that could stand as my proof of fund for the Visa interview.

Are company accounts allowed for proof of funds?
The company is registered by me.

Happy Sunday Guys,

So, I mistakenly booked appointment for Abuja. (how it happened-- I was looking up dates for Abuja and forgot to change it back to Lagos, as I got info here on dates available in Lagos, I just went straight ahead to book not Knowing it was still on Abuja.)

Can I make any adjustment/change to Lagos?
Secondly I'd have to request emergency within my 60 days can it be changed to Lagos at that time?

I need ur advise please.

As long as the scholarship is stated on your I-20, feel free to put nothing in that section.

If you've not cancel before, you have one chance to cancel and choose Lagos again else if you cancel you'll pay another MRV fee

Yes you can cancel and reschedule. But you can only request for an emergency appointment when you are within 60 days of school resumption. i.e 60 days and less, not more than that. For example, if you are to resume school August 17th, then you can reschedule from June 17th or 18th or 19th and so on. No earlier than that. At the time of rescheduling, you can conveniently choose Lagos with your preferred date within 60 days to program start.

well firstly your SOa might never be requested during the process of interview depending on how good you could defend your self, and 3 month statement is enough, I’m not sure who set the 6 months standard.

OK...thanks.

That isn't true at all. There is a reason everyone wants to do an MBA at Kellogs or UPenn rather than Idaho State.
MBA in those schools is mainly for networking. All organizations can't pay the salary of a Kellogg MBA graduate. If you finish from Idaho your own job will also be waiting for you. The current Indian global CEO of Deloitte Punit Renjen is an example!

Good evening everyone!
Been following this thread since 2019 and I'm about to begin my visa application journey...

I got a full ride at Amherst College; hence, in filling the Ds-160 form, what do I input as 'person paying for this trip'?

Who is paying for your flight? .... you can use self and have your bank statement with flight cost.

There are reasons people do that. Family, Language, Higher chance of integration, opportunities in the sector where you operate... Its better for some people in other places compared to the US. Everyone with what works for them OR what they think will work for them. Europe is fantastic but some are better off elsewhere, same way some are better off in Nigeria.

Congrats on Amherst. That's a really big one. Welcome to NESCAC league. You can put Amherst College as the one paying for your trip. I remember I had a similar question earlier, and when I did my research I learned that if you are getting funding, just put the school's name. It's sad that the form is not really clear cos that question can be interpreted in several ways.

Exactly! It may not be Goldman Sachs, PIMCO, Morgan Stanley, Mckinsey, and co, but you go still get job if you hustle right and persevere. Some people just want to make more money in a decent place, not necessarily the most coveted positions. Heck, you can even get a solid gig from a not so highly ranked school. I know someone (African) in a top 80-100 MBA that already has a juicy offer in Google. The school is not among top 50 MBA.

Does 'person paying for your trip' mean who's covering the travel cost or who's covering your educational expenses? Cause the response earlier from TWoods implies that it means who's covering the total educational costs..

I'm confused please...

Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by kastgeraldino: 12:19pm On Apr 18, 2021
Well you have to start with getting a decent GMAT score or GRE (if GMAT is too hard). Good score means your GMAT score is 20 or more points higher than the school's average; I don't know for GRE but sha let your score be ideally higher than the average. And then you do your research by using the US News MBA rankings and then go to school's site to conduct further checks. Schools will tell you holistic evaluation, bla bla bla. But your test score is your golden ticket. This assumes that you have work experience. And what's your definition of less competitive?

my passport will expire by April 2022 and I heard it's difficult to renew in the USA. Do you guys think it's advisable to renew it here in Nigeria before travelling?

I want to go for the interview with my own bank statement. Because the funds I need has been transfered there by my sponsor. Is that ok. Or do I need to go with my sponsors bank statement. I'm.old enough to handle this things. I want.to.knoe.if it's ok

I am in same situation. My sponsor equally made the payment to my account. Will this be convincing enough?
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by EffectEn: 2:45pm On Apr 18, 2021
Why do you need to add all these complications?

Who is paying for the funds according to your I20, that's the person's statement you are to use. If you claim to sponsor yourself, they could ask how you got the money; remember you've already filled your monthly income and job in your DS 160. If the sponsor has transferred the money to your account, you can use a backdated statement from your sponsor (as long as it's within the timing - 6 months). This is way better than going to talk plenty plenty.

It means who's covering for the total educational costs. If you got full assistanship, pick organization option and input the name and address of the school

I would say what is realistic... tell people how the way look like and don't sweetcoat it. Japa na survival... more than 50% International students don't have funding. How many foreign students fit pay the tuition with 20 hours of $10 on campus jobs? Hence, most international students resolved to work their ass out. This way na hustling things and nothing is sure.

Where is the sweet coat? I’m asking question. What skill set are you suggesting when you are not allowed to work outside campus? Going against the law that you signed at the embassy isn’t sweetcoat?
