Yampotatocarrot:I just heard Emenike the footballer is building his hotel now just after completing his hospital project. Violence in Owerri won't last long it's temporary because the residents of imo state abhors violence, knowing that it's bad for their business and peace of mind. |

PROUDIGBO:They recently commissioned a 200bed infectious disease center as part of there CRS and they will be spending approximately 1billion per year on corporate social responsibilities, this specifically applies to Seplat. In addition, there is a framework for a job quota to the community/senatorial zone/state with a ratio of 10%/15%/20% respectively, these percentages are encompassing (don’t quote me on these, I read these figures a few years ago) Additionally, IMO state govt will benefit through taxation and percentage based on amount of gas drilled. There are plans for Anoh to erect a state of the art office at a price location in Owerri, and an establishment of a school that will liaise with oil rich training facilities in Texas for training and knowledge sharing. In a nutshell the benefits are immeasurable. But the problem lies in the implementation. |

Yampotatocarrot:maybe you don't understand me..I never said anything about expansion on that warehouse road/area..I meant expansion of construction of road networks of roads already pencilled down for construction in owerri master plan of decades ago that wasn't or hasn't been done on the first instance..I am not for a flyover construction in owerri and for those ones rochas did I see then as waste because first things first weren't done |

Kelechi121:I think he is also interested in how those processed gas help in attracting industrial and manufacturing concerns into the state by tapping the 'cheap' gas produced |
| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Kelechi121: 6:55pm On Apr 18, 2021 |
asha80:Well it is actually attracting industries to imo. Innoson is building his biggest production line in imo state, not due to his likeness for imo, but purely because of the benefit. Click this link for a direct quote from him. https://igbodefender.com/2020/08/16/innoson-to-set-up-car-manufacturing-company-in-imo-state/ Zinox also has shown interest in setting up a laptop manufacturing unit. These projects are all within that axis. |
| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by PROUDIGBO(op): 7:20pm On Apr 18, 2021 |
asha80:Exactly! The clincher would be to have gas-fed guaranteed power supply to dedicated industrial zones in Imo...extending to Anambra too! kinda like what OBJ did for Ogun State! |
| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by PROUDIGBO(op): 7:24pm On Apr 18, 2021 |
Kelechi121:These investments are commendable! Hope they’re not all scattered all over the state, but are located in a serviced industrial estate! This industrial estate should be located in another senatorial zone, so development can spread evenly around the entire state! |

sanctity454:A state with so many hotels and a 50% unemployment but they’re building more hotels. The stupidity is unbelievable. |
| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Ngorbungor(m): 9:15pm On Apr 18, 2021 |
igbobabe02:Oga what stops you to build your own industry or factory since you are wiser than those building hotels |

huncho22:Owerri is matching on, all this media hype about attacks is not having any impact on anything. Everywhere is balling in o-town |

Ngorbungor:Man, here you got me on the jugular. Kudos. |
| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Amah70: 9:46pm On Apr 18, 2021 |
PROUDIGBO:In bold. Mbakwe’s government acquired industrial estates at Amike-Orlu and in Okigwe. Those estates are still not encroached into. Emeka Ihedioha talked only about revitalization of Owerri industrial zone till he left office. Tertiary education institutions in Owerri zone have zoomed off modern development and urban expansion in Owerri zone. So it all depends on what type of governor in Imo state who can understand that the other two senatorial zones in the state need the industry factor to induce development in them. A governor who does not understand a thing will pile up everything up in Owerri; and tell us: because Owerri is state capital. Lol. |

| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by rtdCivilservant: 9:54pm On Apr 18, 2021 |
huncho22:But if I may ask u, do hotels not employ people? In fact a standard hotel employs more people than many factories. We should stop this 'Owerri is hotel hotel' as if we all don't live in Nigeria, as if other states have industries scattered all over. |
| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by anselem87(m): 10:22pm On Apr 18, 2021 |
sanctity454:I don't know when we will start seeing 21 century modern hotels in our cities, hotel with underground car parks etc that's how it's done in developed countries. we can't keep on building poor structures |
| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by emmamajesty: 10:33pm On Apr 18, 2021 |
anselem87:My brother there is nothing bad if u can build one as example, as for me those Hotels in owerri are not too bad base on resources in our hands |

PROUDIGBO:lol they are trying sha |
| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Amah70: 1:08am On Apr 19, 2021 |
anselem87:In Delta or some other oil producing states, the best hotels are found in the oil producing areas. In Imo state, the hotels are in Owerri but not in oil producing Ohaji/Egbema area where oil money comes from into the coffers of IMSG, but the money is used in urban development of Owerri; sustaining all government institutions of development in Owerri; economically over-empowering the native land owners in Owerri area. You turn around to abuse me from Orlu, Orlu which is also cheated like Ohaji/Egbema areas. |
| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by huncho22(m): 4:05am On Apr 19, 2021 |
Amah70:u well at all ? Na government dey build the hotels ? U are even wrong in rivers State obio okpo and port Harcourt local government are not oil producing lgas but the best hotels , are located there , meanwhile oil producing lgas are like shit hole |

PROUDIGBO:I get you Sir... Thank God you added "with good management" Atleast we have to start from somewhere. I read about the Bafokeng tribe in South Africa and I was impressed with what they've done with the money they get from platinum mining rights in their community... Even have scholarships for their indigenes As I said earlier, we have to start from somewhere |
| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Yampotatocarrot(m): 4:25am On Apr 19, 2021 |
sanctity454:Yeah, your second paragraph is very correct. The big men in the state who have their hospitality investments there will do all they can to frustrate any plan to cause insecurity in the state, which is a very good thing... Add that to the fact that Imolites naturally abhor violence |
| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Yampotatocarrot(m): 4:32am On Apr 19, 2021 |
PROUDIGBO:A gas powered industry estate will be a very nice idea. Such can even be extended to industries in Abia state seeing that Geometric is not fully allowed to supply electricity to residential houses not to talk of industries, due to the greed of Emeka Offor. If I'm not mistaken, Anambra already have such, powered by gas, I once read the news. I also concur with the fact that the industrial estate should be located outside Owerri, probably in Okigwe zone to reduce concentration of people in Owerri and at the same time spread development.. provided the Owerri-Okigwe road is fully and completely constructed |

PROUDIGBO:Industrial zone kwa? in Imo... Please which industry are you talking about? I guess u mistake hotel zone for industrial zone. |
| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Nobody: 9:04am On Apr 19, 2021 |
PROUDIGBO:Waltersmith group is planning an industrial park within that axis and it will be gas powered |

huncho22:Shut up. Do hotels get built in areas where roads barely exist, like in the oil producing areas of Ohaji/Egbema in Imo state? If you ask me whether I am well or not, you foolishly believe you have insulted me. |
| Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Kelechi121: 2:09pm On Apr 19, 2021 |
I think and industrial zone is quite a good idea, but many companies are still skeptical about investment until ANOH becomes fully operational, but I think the govt should push strongly for the establishment and have a signed agreement that stipulation conditions, as this halted the growth of Industries in Aba. I remember the hopes and excitement about geometric power plant and how excited moribund industries within Aba axis were, but all that hope got squashed as Emeka ofor failed to understand the economic impact Barth Nnaji had in place, he basically looked at it from a business point of view. FYI: This constant complain about hotels, are there many hotel in Owerri than needed ? Yes, but remember this isn’t built by govt, do we now start telling people how to spend there hard earn money ? |

Kelechi121:The park is owned by waltersmith group owners of the modular refinery, which already has agreement with seplat on the supply of crude oil to their refinery since their ibigwe oil field can't meet up with the demand. The waltersmith group is also going to establish a power plant after delivering the second phase of the refinery, with a fresh dual carriage from the industrial park to pH road owerri. https://waltersmithng.com/2020/11/27/signing-ceremony-between-waltersmith-petroman-oil-limited-unido-and-uneca-with-respect-to-our-industrial-and-innovation-park/ https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.energyvoice.com/oilandgas/africa/refining-africa/287527/seplat-signs-deal-to-supply-waltersmith-refinery/amp/ |

Kelechi121:The geometric issue is a very big loss to the whole States in the Southeast, all because of the greed of one man. I pity Nnaji though, and I pray he finds favour in the sight of the government in power so that things will turn around not just for him alone, but also in the light of power generation and distribution in the whole South East, starting with Abia and Imo state. Are there more hotels in Owerri than needed? You said YES, I beg to politely disagree. Any current decline in patronage is due to the Covid19 and schools not being fully operational yet. Let higher institutions resume fully and things get back in place, you'll be surprised you'll visit some hotels and they'll tell you there's no room available. This same low patronage is being witnessed by hotels around SCOAN, Ikotun due to the fact that the church has been closed down for a long time, as per Covid19... Let church activities resume and you'll be lucky to get accomodation around there. Imo state wants to become the hub of entertainment West of River Niger+Benue and it's gradually getting there... All the lowclass hotels or those ones with poor services will definitely have to close down for others to survive. It'll soon be a case of serious competition which will lead to hotels rendering top notch services to keep customers |
