Earning money is difficult whereas spending money is easy. So, it is necessary to spend judiciously. I have seen that sometimes a richer person is unable to manage his expenses because of extravagance whereas a poorer person manages is expenses successfully. A person should spend in such a way that he can save some money for future. Some guidelines for spending judiciously is given below:

1. Don’t buy what you don’t need
2. Don’t borrow to buy wasting assets
3. Have a saving habit; it helps you in rainy day
4. Don’t try to impress anybody with your clothes or cars
5. Avoid friends who make you go into debt because you want to belong.
6. Have annual financial plans

Lastly, salary is never enough. Put your money in assets that can yield returns. such as Money Mutual funds, T-Bills, Digital Assets etc

Good tips. However, the most important is STRIVE TO EARN MORE.

No matter how hard you try to save, it is important to note that it takes just a single emergency to wipe off an entire savings... especially when you're saving in a valueless currency like the Naira.

As such, salary earners and others should try as much as possible to create at least three sources of income (in a country like Nigeria). If possible, at least one of these sources should pay in hard currency. The OP made mention of this in the last paragraph.

Easy to say abi write but in reality your salary is even mostly spent before you collect it with pending issues to resolve awaiting it

Your girlfriend/wife upkeep
Your brother/sister in school
Your relatives/friends who knows u earn salary
Your Internet, Call card, dstv and other utilities
Food in d house
Transport upandan
That person u owe to repay....The list goes on

While it is well to save/invest, it is very difficult for someone who is underpaid to invest.
With the little exposure at work, I always imagine how possibly can a bachelor survive with 20k salary let alone a married man...

you forgot that most people salary is not enough to cover their recurrent monthly expenditure like transportation, feeding, domestic bills especially this one that NEPA bill is even more than minimum wage.... how do you cope with that.....
