I don't know why this doesn't seems to be a good development to many people. In most developed countries, RFID tags are been used to track animals. It's a positive suggestion the senator made in my own view.

If you say we have other pressing needs above creating databases for animal is understandable. We are still a developing nation. But to rubbish the suggestion in totality makes me worried the way Nigerians reasons.

It reminds me when former Minister of Agriculture, Akinwunmi Adeshina proposed Mobile Phones to farmers in 2003. Many mocked the decision. They didn't see how that will help farmers.

They didn't see how that will prevent 3rd parties and middlemen from highjacking and inflating the price of fertilizers and improved seeds. They didn't see that developing the rural communities.... so much they didn't see.

They didn't see the overall picture which the Minister and his cabinet must have thoroughly considered having taking several feedbacks from farmers.

Nigeria is full of illiterates, backward, unexposed and ignorant people.

They want to live in a civilized, orderly and developed country, but they are always against what people in civilized, orderly and developed countries do.

I wish there is a way to leave these ignorant and backward people behind in their villages and let the rest of us move forward.

Nothing wrong in having a database for livestock most countries we are always quick to compare Nigeria with have it in place. But I would just wish we put that energy in getting a proper database for the citizens first.

This is what you get when food meant for the children is given to the dogs. At a time like this when some nations are planning on sending a man to mars these ones are talking of a database for cows. since the advent of this unfortunate administration "cows" have taken a center stage than the citizens of this nation and its quite unfortunate. They are not talking about creating a database for the millions of almajiris that litter every state of the north, not even a database of unemployed youths in the country or some other matters of great importance but here we are talking about a database for cows.
With Northerners in power, Nigeria is forever condemned to remaining a perpetually undeveloped, stagnated, and irredeemable nation. They just don't have anything to offer but just want to be in power for the sake of being there. You need to look at the speed at which others African nations like Rwanda, Botswana, Namibia etc. are developing at weep at the way we seem to be retrogressing as a nation. Before talking about cows do we have a database for the citizens? Is this what is most pressing to us at the moment?

What is our business with the moon or what's the moon got to do with the health and safety of the meat you and your family put in your body?

The people that are going to the moon already have a cow registration system so what is wrong with you having the same system to guarantee your nutritional saftey?

Enagi said in addition to checking cattle rustling, the bill will help address the diseases and other threats to human lives caused by the movement of livestock.

When you think you have seen or heard it all, bam! you get whacked in the face again with another imbecilic idea. If the government has to spend meagre resources available to trace, track and address the diseases and other threats to human lives as a result of movement of livestock, would it not be prudent to curtail cattle movement by going into ranching? Let the cattle owners like any other private entrepreneur buy land and start ranching. Why is it a very hard concept for these FULANI people to understand?

The confused southerners that are still thinking one Nigeria I hope you can see your life? So you want your generations to come to live with people that reason like cows With all the chaos going on should any reasonable person even have such an idea? The Nigerian Twitter Community is the largest in Africa, that alone is a great reason for Twitter HQ to be in Nigeria - but after thorough feasiblity study Twitter saw that it would be a bad idea to domicile their HQ in the useless country all thanks to some of the actions or utterances of the people of Amajiri Republic. Ngozi is a member of the board of directors of Twitter, did the government made any effort to reach out to her and see if she can try her lucky to bring Twitter HQ to Nigeria I am sure no is the answer.

But if we are not stupid as people why should we all wait and fold our arms until the fool in ask rock completes his tenure Why do we like suffering and be expecting miracle from God even when the solution is in our hands? Why must Buhari be allowed to finish his tenure despite the poverty insecurity and chaos all over the place. I think we are just stupid like our leaders if not we will never tolerate what they are doing to us. We are looking like fools and wait for the next victim of various atrocities going on. Who is going to be the next victim of kidnapping , who is going to be the next victim of raping, who is going to be the next victim of accident due to the bad road, who are going to be the next victim of tanker explosion etc

Let's continue waiting till we all die then - it is not a matter of in Jesus or Insha Allahu or whatever you believe in. Remember that yesterday's victim also pray to God, infact some were coming back from church or mosque, so use your brain and stop saying it is not my portion. Even your pastor or imam won't escape it the way it is going. To be fair we deserve the kind of leaders we have.

No functional database for humans yet. Despite all the NIN ish, some years to come, another government will complain of unavailability of citizens data. But what bothers our leaders most at a time when there's an unprecedented rate of insecurity ravaging the entire country? A database for cows! Cows are truly Senior Citizens in Nigeria, thanks to the current government.

Una sha wan make being a Nigerian something to be ashamed of.

Lol.

It's not like cows are endangered species that is subject to illegal poaching and hence the need for protection.

I get cattle rustling could be curbed by the chipping of your cows, but cattle rearing should be a private business and the people who own the cattle should be educated on ways to prevent and limit cattle rustling.

To create an agency when there is Ministry of Agriculture for this purpose is completely out of place.

The only way this makes sense is if cattle rearing is a government venture. It is not, but with the look of things it certainly looks that way.

As much as you're correct, you forgot we don't have a database of our citizens. You don't seem to remember that this who applied for National ID card haven't gotten it 4/5 years later.

My question is, was this the state of those countries you love to point out before they started tagging their cows??... A good thing done in a wrong time becomes a bad thing... Bible says, "Don't let your good be evil spoken of"

But if they say there'll be no money budgeted for it, no special agency will be created, rather the they'll make use of the ministry of agriculture workers, agricultural extension department, Livestop production staff, e.t.c, trust me, Nigerians won't have issue with it... Oya, touch your heart and tell me if you believe thats what they'll do.

Honestly before I clicked this topic I thought to myself that this must be a joke. But alas! It is real and the bill has passed second reading. Inflation, insecurity, unemployment and other challenges facing Nigeria are not been talked about. How the senate president allow such bill to pass shows where his priority lies, I missed Saraki. So it is now official that in this present day Nigeria, cows are better valued than humans.
Who knows there might be even dumber bills in the senate. These are trying times for Nigerians.

This is pure madness when database of citizens have not been captured but they are talking about having database of cows. They might as well have database for mosquitoes.
This country is a joke.
