I did and even though r, it was paramount for my mental wellbeing. Towards my last days working for my boss I will have panic attacks just at the thought of going to the office. He was an egoistic narcissistic man. I don't regret it one bit

motionarena, I have.

When I stumbled into a thread discussing freelancing on Nairaland, I couldn't sleep for days.

As a graduate working for a startup, my salary wasn't up to 100k. However, I strongly believed that I could do much better than I was earning if I took the bold step.

Finally, I did and that decision was my toughest ever, but it turned out my best career decision.

Funnily enough, my former colleagues are still earning the same salary some 3 years later. I cannot even talk about how the naira/dollar exchange rate has made my job better, the exposure I get and free time at my disposal.

Now, I get plenty of rest and look so fresh grin

No jumping into Lagos traffic.

The truth is, no guts, no glory

I want to learn Freelancing

Yes I did.

In 2017 April, I had to quit and resign my job as a Sales Executive Staff with Nigerian Breweries PLC. I worked for 4 yrs

I had to, because the stress of the job was becoming so much, worst is some senior managers who assume God and feel without the job, u will die....BIG LIE....

Since that day till today, I have been on my own and never will I answer yes sir so any stupid man/woman as manager.

I am about to quit mine. Those people dont have an organized way of running an organization. Imaging recruiting somebody with same certificate as mine and with no experience, then offering him a bigger pay than mine, while i have been complaining and lamenting for an increment. This is the height of injustice and wickedness. angry

Yes. Imagine a graduate earning 20k/month in a very hostile aluminum company under incessant pressure. Imagine being insulted almost on daily basis for no just reason? Imagine coming to work every single day with the fear that you would be sacked that day. Imagine hearing about heaps of allegations against you whenever you're sacked. Imagine being physically assaulted regularly. Imagine being made to pay for what you did not spoil. A girl was working and the PC went off; it spoiled. Her whole month salary was taken because her system spoiled. Thousands of experiences abound.

It was a 14 months trauma that I can never wish on my enemy. I was billed to pay 60k which is my 3 months salaries equivalent over something I knew nothing about. That was how I carry my bag waka before man pikin go kpai

The good thing is that within that short period of time, I became so grounded in aluminum business. I rested for some days before going to search for another job. The very first company I entered employed me in my very dream department. Today I'm a very good estimator.

But I'm not happy right now because I lost a very important contract today.

In case you don't know, I give your building the quality roof it deserves at a very competitive price. Location is not a barrier. Check my signature

Hi guys will like to know

Have you quit your job before because you where fed up and not necessarily because you found another place.

I am thinking of doing same would like to know from experience how did you cope before finding something else to do.

I once worked in a place where they pay anytime they want and not regularly.
I hate not knowing when salary was coming and they often pay what they felt like.

I trekked until I borrowed sense and left.

I just get bored with a company when same task becomes routines. Once I get bored, I move .

Let me say I am freaked about new challenges. Not daily norms you can always do with eyes closed

Yes. I have done that for 3 employers.

What I always make sure I do was to prepare for 6 months ahead. By the grace of God, I always save up to take of my bills for at least for 3 months, not 100% relying on the coming salary. I dont owe them and they dont owe me.

When I start a new job, I will scan the working enviroment if it is toxic to my well being or not. If it is toxic based on the staff I met on the job. I will assess it to see if its management style or staff attitude. Once I discover that its the owner or management's style, I begin to plan my exit by myself so as to avoid unpleasant exit from any idiot that will spoil my CV.

1st & 2nd Exit: the MD rained abusive words on me. I maintained my cool to cob. After my dinner, I type letter of resignation, scanned it and send it to the HR and copy the MD.

3rd Exit: It was a case of poor planning on set up cost; and the owner was now trying to make staff scape goat his mistakes. Me, I can not suffer for a decision I was not part of.

One thing is to quit, the other thing is to find another job.

I keep advising people that if they want to quit any job, they should be sure that another job is waiting for them or they have some personal side hustling doing.

This country is not a place to stay jobless
Sometimes, quitting, even without getting another job, might be the only way to live to see the next day.
