I can see the police are trying to do image laundry to the culprits. by saying "they siblings descended on him after the victim tried to kill their mother"! I pray justice is served accordingly. The statement of the police didn't add up considering the statement of village elders and witnesses. They want to free the police officer and siblings by adulterating statements.

I see greed here.

Family house belonged to the first son who is now deceased.
He was also to get a plot and half while the other siblings get a plot each but he refused.

The other male siblings are still living in the family house which by inheritance belonged to the first son on the condition that they will move when they’ve built on their lands but first son refused.

The machete attack in my opinion was started by the first son. The cut on him might have been reactionary.

Na wetin them go talk , but I still dey doubt it ... One and half plot for the first son and he still say No... I doubts it.

Poverty story: you're 24, with 2kids and still pregnant, your husband is just 29 already littering the whole place with kids. As is typical of your people, you're a full time housewife meaning you don't mind do anything, you're unemployed afterall, "it is the man's work to face life alone and come feed you and the kids". The man foolishly also believes this - thats why you're Africans, that's why you're Nigerians, that's why you're ibos. "Its your tradition". That's why you drag for property and inheritance, that's why you live in a family commune, that's why you and his sister got into a fight.
Its all traditions and customs

All property immediately goes to the widow. Everyone does 10 years in jail.

All I see is poor parenting and upbringing. I still wonder how I'll become enemies with my siblings. May God forbid and take away anything that will cause such in my family. Family is everything for me.

I blame the parents, that's my thoughts

Not all Igbos , my grandfather gave all his children including the women among them , my mother get more than 6 plots of landed property from him. BTW he shared his wealth when he was alive and only asked them to take over whenever he's gone... So everyone among them know his or her own Shares before the man join his accesstors 18-20 yrs ago.
Very good one from your grandfather

I have a friend who usually says Lagos is too tough he will go back to the village and collect all his late father farms, houses and sell them to help himself,. I ask about his siblings he said they were not his business nor problem

He claimed he's the first born hence the rightful owner of everything, this is someone whose father last born is still in secondary school yet unwilling to give her anything because she is a female that don't deserve inheritance

Can I blame his siblings of same father same mother if they poison him? Of cause I can't

Only God can save the Igbo from the igbo. Very backward people. A disgrace to humankind. Killers, Cultists, ritualists, kidnappers. SE perpetually immersed in all manner of wickedness.
May God continue to bless our dear native land of Nigeria and shame/decimate its detractors.

Dude, shut up...did you say your native Nigeria, taaa.... you and your likes are not indigenous to Nigeria, y'all are from futa Djallon, that's where you fulanis came from...your native Nigeria indeed grin

I suspect your grandfather was highly educated. The good thing is I see a lot of young igbos on social media championing an end to some of these practices. Osu system, land squabbles, female vs male children inheritance, bride price, e.t.c. Everything boils down to lack of education and social orientation.

There's more to this story than what is written here...

In Igbo land no sibling would dare challenge the first son except if he has done something really bad

This is one of the reasons I keep saying I will never leave any wealth for my children, I will train them to at least university level for those who wanted to go to school, a plot of land each, both male and female, and 3 million each to start up their lives when they come up in age .. the remaining money i will squander it with my wife till I die ... make them no get hope say I keep anything for them

Exactly

But one major thing is that they have an enabler culture for this greed, it's a crime enabled and sustained by culture

As a Yoruba it's near impossible to pull that off because it's completely alien to our culture, but when you see your uncle do it, a village friend pull that off too and another distance relative take all his father's properties and leave other to suffer, if you're the first born it seems all is set for your greed

Unless they fight it from the cause which is the culture, more of this will still continue to happen

Babaric children.

People just birth children like chicken without proper training, only to die and leave them causing havoc and problems everywhere after their death.

Parents, please try to train your children and bring them up in the way of the Lord to avoid such discord in the family when they grow up.

My Igbo brothers, please stop killing yourselves over properties that will end up rotting away when y'all are gone. Hian!
