Politics is a game of numbers. Instead of the other denominations complaining and hoping the catholics will hand them power, they should work on convincing other catholics why their candidates are better options.

Peter Obi created the deep denomination divide you see in Anambra today.

Pentecostalism don't work in anambra and igbo land in general. In the cities, people may attend Pentecostal churches but whenever they go home, they will go to Catholic or Anglican. I think in a way, because Catholic and Anglican allows one to practice his culture and tradition, igbo people are comfortable with that. Unlike Pentecostal that will ask you to forfeit everything you are and follow one man's teaching all in the name of born again. Just very few. Bishop Mike okonkwo was only popular outside igboland.

By the way, people should go to each state in igboland and get the denomination stats.

Catholics constitute a whooping 70% of anambra population ,take the Anambra south senatorial zone for example I am very sure there is no religious leader in the zone that is more powerful than his lordship bishop Hilary odili okeke the Catholic bishop of nnewi, of course we all know the story of the South Africa based business man (alloysius ikegwuonu) the one that built a Catholic Church in ozubulu.. then in the anambra north there is no religious institution or leader that is more powerful than the Catholic bishop of Awka same with the archbishop of onitsha (bishop Valerie okeke) ..not forgetting the likes of rev father obimma (ebube muonso).. even father the highly respected fr edeh that built Madonna university @okija, u can also remember the likes of the late fr tansi, archbishop obiefuna ..during festive periods like Christmas and new year eve most of my Pentecostal and Anglican friends do follow me to crossover nights in the Catholic Church.. not forgetting the events of the popular August meeting where Catholic mothers do showcase thier wealth and authority ..the point is that the Catholics are the major inhabitants in Anambra there is no point arguing that even most of anambra indigenes living abroad and outside the states claiming to be Pentecostals still go back to their catholic roots whenever they travel home to their villages

That's what many people don't know. Those saying Obiano made it worse should also acknowledge the person who started it.

During the return of Schools back to Missions. Peter Obi cunningly returned Anglican schools to catholics... That was the initial basis of the friction.

Now it is clear that Anglican was the first to arrive on Niger and so most schools were built by them even outside church Jurisdiction.

So Anglican asked why Obi should return their schools to Catholics, he said he wasn't aware or was not properly briefed.

Though he was forced to reverse it all but that doesn't stop him in creating more catholic school termed public same period.
