The Oyo State Government, on Monday, says it has set up a Special Joint Security Post, set up at Mamu village – a border between Ibadan and Ijebu Ode in Ogun state is to complement efforts of the security operatives in nipping insecurity, especially issues of kidnapping, in the bud.

Gov Seyi Makinde, who made this disclosure while on inspection tour to the border area, declared that the Ibadan-IjebuOde road had been in the news recently for kidnapping of travellers plying the route.

He said the Mamu Joint Security Post was set up to secure the entry and exit points in the state, adding that the Mamu post was a pilot project that would soon be replicated in all the borders with other states.

According to the governor, there is CCTV camera at the post; that is being monitored from the Security Control Room in Ibadan, “So if there is anything going on here security personnel can quickly be alerted and deal with the situation appropriately.

“For us, if we know people coming into the state we can trace them or if any crime is committed within the state and the criminals want to escape from the state’ we can activate the process, whereby they can be apprehended at the exit point here.”

Makinde assured the people of the state of his administration’s committment towards provision of adequate security of lives and property.
He added that his administration, in collaboration with the security agencies in the state, were working round the clock to ensure that residents of the state were secured.

Heads of security agencies in the state; Ngozi Onadeko – Oyo State Police Commissioner and Iskilu Akinsanya – Oyo State Commadant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps(NSCDC) took part in the inspection tour.
Gov Makinde later handed over nine patrol pickup vans to the Police and NSCDC; five pickup vans for the Police and four pickup vans for NSCDC

Stop being a learner of Nigeria politics! This guy is scheming for second term in office and the already starched billions are meant for service of account. The real money for the campaign project will come steady and slow grin grin

Sharp guy forming protection at the 5th hour...

And for all the politicians sponsoring violence and shedding of blood all over our land, along with all the stooges they are using, along with all their supporters online and offline.
Terrible deaths await them all.
No matter the political party they are.
They will never witness the end of this year, if they refuse to repent and if they keep being happy with the deaths of our citizens and military personnels in Nigeria.
Blood and sorrow will never depart from the doorsteps of any one involved in blood shedding in our darling country.
If you are one of such people (quote this post NOW, let Nairalanders know you!)

Peace is all we want in our nation, and peace we shall have whether the evil animals like it or not.

Rather than plan on infrastructure, Nigerians are planning against kidnapping and banditry.

I do think that it was a fatal mistake disbanding SARS
If I was the IGP I will immediately restore SARS solely to confront ipob and baditry
Who disbands a whole security architecture due to some isolated incident?
Sheybe e don dey clear for our eyes small small

Modified; I think the vehicle distribution by the governor (5to police and 4to nscdc) is unfair.
The nscdc is almost useless when it comes to combatting insecurities.
Aside arresting a few common thieves I've never heard or seen any major security achievement from those guys
Just like our refineries nscdc just a waste of scarce resources

These devilish people will start targeting these security people from the bushes around these posts and check points.

It is high time various state govts try to possess well equipped drones and professional indigenous drone pilots to tackle this menace. That's the best way to face and conquer what we face currently. Most of these people operate from the thick forests. So drones with heat detectors should be deployed. Smoke them out and finish them once and for all. End of discussion. Desperate times needs concerted and desperate actions.

We must genuinely pump money into security at this stage (not the one they have been doing in the past), after all, if there is insecurity in the land, there won't be room for development of any kind.

May God help us embarassed

The right thing is to form a better security network to fight this like they are doing now. If you took your time to really read the testimonies of people affected by SARS, you won't say this.
