So UI dey use Catchment abi? Which school doesn't?grin. Catchment should be Abolished as a basis for passing post utme. The foreign countries we're trying to imitate only use Catchment for fees. Then somebody will say we're all "Nigerians"gringrin

check the official released cut off on their portal, its just a mere approximation of the merit cut off, so catchment is merit.

Hello medics, I don't even know if this is the right thread to ask this question but let me just ask.

How is Best graduating student BGS awarded, what is the criterion. (both medicine and pharmacy)

How is the Best in a particular professional exams awarded For pharmacy?

My school just recently released her professional exams results and it was clearly stated that those with "B" grade were to resit and those with "C" were made to repeat. Abeg make person interpret this thing grin

Since Pharmacy is unclassified, do they still award B.pharm with distinction in Nigerian universities. Like will it be boldly written in the certificate or it's the same B.pharm awarded? If yes what's the CGPA requirement to attain that. Thanks

Good morning everyone . I'm an Aspirant of Physiology ,and I have a few questions . I initially wanted to go for MBBS but my jamb score was not Okay for MBBS in University of Ibadan . I had 277 . I had tried MBBS in 2018 (UTME score was 278 ) and 2019(248) and I still didn't beat cut off , so this yr(277) I went for physiology and by His grace I beat the cut off . However someone adviced me that I should have gone for med lab or pharmacy , cos physiology has few job opportunities . So I am asking , is this true ? Of the two courses , I prefer Med lab but can I switch at 100L . If I can switch , I know it will be hard but please any advice or tips for me ? Also , please can anyone recommend 100L textbooks for me to read cos I heard all medical sciences will take mostly the same courses and I will like to read ahead . Thank you

Also , please what next after cut off has been released . I know its accepting the admission when it is offered and wait for release of admission list . But please after that what next ? What documents will I need for my clearance and Registration ? Also I have 2 results , WAEC GCE and NECO SSCE . Both are okay but the GCE has better grades . I know UI doesn't give points for o level but do they accept GCE results ?

You cannot switch at 100L. You can only switch at 200L.

Moving from Physiology to MLS would be easier because they are of the same faculty. As compared with Pharmacy.

In 100L, in addition to your Physiology courses, you have to add and take the courses students of MLS are taking like Mathematics (just find out).

And just slow your roll, enjoy yourself before getting into the rat race.

What result did you use in registering for your UTME? Present that during clearance. And UI does not admit students combining O levels for any course in the COM.

PS: Professional Training Levy for Physiology is 20k, that of MLS is 80k at 500L. I can't remember those for other levels. That's excluding your school fees, accommodation fee blah, blah, blah

Different schools have different modus operandi, which shouldn't be too surprising.

From my understanding of how UI Pharmacy works, the student with the highest CGPA graduates as the BGS, which invariably mean that person would have lots of distinctions.

Yet, an individual can have lots of distinctions and still not graduate as the BGS. Hence, being the BGS is CGPA dependent.

In medical school, most often than not, the best graduating student is the person with the most distinctions, since the MB;BS and it's variants are awarded as unclassified degree.

In Medicine/Dentistry/Veterinary Medicine, it's either one has a Distinction, Pass or Fail in a course.

Repeat and Resits are based on the number of courses one passes or fails.

In Medical School Pre-clinicals, a repeat applies when a student fails two or all of Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry.

Resit applies when a student fails one of the trio: Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry. They move to 400L with their colleagues but rewrite the exam for the course they failed.

In Pharmacy, criteria for Resits and repeats differ by Level. The number of courses one fails determines if one would be repeating or resitting. And the criteria varies among Universities.
